I've just upgraded from V4.2.4 to V5 5.2.0. I tried to carry over the Config.xml and the .db3 but I had issues logging on to the server. In the end I started with a clean install and built the profile up from scratch.
Everything seems to be working as expected - the Web-Client works fine, but I have found a consistent problem with the native client.
When I do a search, I enter a search term and it finds the programs that match. When I click on a Program to bring up the details - Bang! Unhandled Exception, Red X lines across a white window, Clicking Continue makes the window title change to "Not Responding" which will go for a while until I get the Close Program / Wait for Response prompt.
I've done it a few times repeatedly. if I don't enter a search term and just use the alphabet, I can sometimes get it to work as expected, but it also leads to crashes.
Not sure what other information is needed to diagnose the problem. I think the Log file has something in it that might be a clue. 5.2.0.210912 5.2.0 but
There are a couple minor bugs I found with the web client when downloading recordings.
#1 From the "All Recordings (List)" page, clicking on the download button does nothing.
#2 When when clicking on the download button of a recording that has a comma in the filename the download fails and an error web page is displayed. I reported this a while ago but got no response. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid558397
First, thank you developing and maintaining the nextpvr application. I’ve installed the latest release (Docker), however, I found it much slower (mainly the guide display) than the previous version.
Unfortunately. I no longer have the older version’s image. I tried to find a release archive on github to no avail.
I’d like to install the previous version and compare.
Appreciate if someone can direct me to where I can find the older image.
Bulk Video Converter
A flexible and featured Bash shellscript that recursively scans a folder for files to convert/re-encode to different codec/encoder using ffmpeg.
Tested on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Context
I am using this script inside a Ubuntu docker container running on my Synology DS720+ NAS (Intel Celeron J4125 4-core CPU + 6GB). It daily converts all the MPEG2 recordings made by NextPVR with my HDHomeRun tuner.
I am converting them to libx264 which is generally about ~7x times smaller and converts at a 2.4x speed.
Using libx265 it's about ~12x times smaller and converts at a 0.7x speed.
I am a long time BeyondTV user. I know one day it will no longer work in a future version of Windows 10/11. I have to jump through hoops as it stands now to install it fresh.
I am 80-90% sure I will be using NextPVR v5 as my next PVR .
Since I am new to NextPVR, I have a question about OTA TV scheduling and recording.
BeyondTV has a recording behavior where the start and end times are more a recording window then a start time and end time. That way, if for some reason, the recording service gets restarted the recording begins again as long at its still within the recording window. The file name recorded to is appended with a sequential number.
How does NextPVR handle this scenario, TV shows starts at 8pm and ends at 9pm. The recording started as scheduled at 8pm, but the computer or recording service gets restarted for some unforeseen reason at 8:30pm. Does NextPVR start the recording again when the computer is back up and running (since the recording window is still between 8pm and 9pm)?
Quote:NextPVR UI image rendering has been updated from System.Drawing to Skia. This is the UI used by nextpvr.exe and remote UI clients (nlite etc). It should look largely the same to users, but be a bit quicker in places. This change was required since Microsoft will no longer support System.Drawing on future versions of .net, and we're intending to move NextPVR to .net 6.0 in the near future.
Direct3D and Direct2D no longer required or used by NextPVR.exe.
Minor skin improvements and tweaks
Minor improvements to how the background behaves when showing popups in nextpvr.exe
Added detailed stream information to player. In nextpvr.exe you can see it with ctrl-i key combo. In web app you can hit the 'i' in the UI.
Added token to Schedules Direct artwork requests. This will soon be required by SD.
Added ability to specify a preferred bitrate when importing an m3u, by adding "|preferred_bitrate=1000000" to the end of m3u url. This setting will only matter in situations where multiple bitrate versions of the stream were available.
Added ability to change audio stream in the web app
Added ability to force an m3u import to treat all streams as VOD (by adding "|forcevod" to the url)
Added ATSC SAT>IP support
Improved support for themoviedb and tvmaze for artwork.
Improved logic for selecting streams to use when m3u8 stream has separate audio/video streams.
Now storing recording size, so that kodi can display this information
Fixed issue with handling of Schedules Direct artwork.
Fixed issue stopping screensaver from functioing on remote UI clients.
Fixed issue with IPTV scanning sometimes not showing status updates
Fixed IPTV bugs with some m3u8 streams
Fixes and improvements to SAT>IP support

Fixed issue with icon missing from button on main menu on remote UI served by Linux backend.
Removed thetvdb artwork source
In the past 2 weeks or so, the automatic update has stopped working. I can still manually update on the NextPVR webpage and the webpage still shows an update time. Using Schedules Direct. Any ideas on where to start looking?
It seems like an encoding problem. When I met the file "data/tuning/DVB-T/Belgium - Walloni?ini", the install program crashed. Did anyone here met this problem? I wish this bug will be fixed in the next version... Thanks!
(That dialog said that "There are invalid characters in the path").
Upgraded Kodi to 19.1 and WinTV to 10. Could not get NextPVR to work on Kodi so when for fresh install and now NPVR cannot find channels. TV Tuner card is listed on devices but scan comes in with no channels. WinTV 10 had no problems finding channels and works fine.
Log attached.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
