  Menu for recent recordings
Posted by: LeGrandZombie - 2021-09-06, 02:02 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

On the page with recent and upcoming recordings I believe that only recordings from the last 7 days are displayed. I'm always pretty far behind on watching my recordings so I would like to be able to either enter a number of days to display, or select a number of weeks from a pulldown. I like that the list is displayed in descending order, but it might also be handy to choose to reverse that and list the oldest ones first.

  Localhost Not Working
Posted by: NND - 2021-09-05, 07:40 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (49)

Hi.  I have just done a fresh installation of the latest version 5.1.4.210802 on a Windows 10 PC that is fully up-to-date.  However, I cannot launch NextPVR in either of my browsers.

Chrome gives:  127.0.0.1 is currently unable to handle this request.  HTTP ERROR 500.

Firefox just gives a blank page.

Since I can't even launch the program, I have no idea how to get to the log files.  Any suggestions?

emby Next PVR plugin endpoint errors
Posted by: tblade - 2021-09-05, 04:03 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (2)

Hello -

New to NextPVR, old to computers in general...

running emby server 4.6.4.0 and nextpvr 5.1.4.210802 on ubuntu and just can't seem to get the recordings to show up

NextPVR plugin (version 3.3.3.0) installs fine on emby.

Resolved fs permission errors, created recordings with NextPVR using web interface - ok
changed admin password, created a pin, and allowed unauthorized access from LAN streaming

After almost giving up I checked the logs and turning on debug logging on emby I see that the endpoint for the NextPVt server is giving numerous NotFound errors (see sample below)
Hoping this is a config/permissions tweak, but a bit beyond what I can figure out.
NextPVR is running on 192.168.11.52:8866

Any help would be appreciated! Wink

  Extras Device, FFMpeg hw acceleration
Posted by: dlfergrd - 2021-09-04, 02:45 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (8)

I am using a usb hdmi capture device for my tuner via an extras file.
I can run this from the console and it works fine without any errors or warnings

Code:
ffmpeg -f alsa -thread_queue_size 2048 -thread_queue_size 2048 -i plughw:CARD=C920,DEV=0 -f v4l2 -thread_queue_size 2048 -input_format mjpeg -s 1280x720 -hwaccel vaapi -hwaccel_device /dev/dri/renderD128 -hwaccel_output_format vaapi -i /dev/v4l/by-id/usb-046d_HD_Pro_Webcam_C920_788F946F-video-index0 -vf 'scale_vaapi=format=nv12,hwupload' -c:v h264_vaapi -r 30 -g 30 -acodec aac -b:a 192k -f mpegts -vsync 1 -async 1 pipe:1 | ffplay -i -
I use the webcam for testing as it simulates the capture device.

Extras file:
Code:
<extras>   <channel name="Logitec WebCam">     <command>ffmpeg</command>     <args>-f alsa -thread_queue_size 2048 -thread_queue_size 2048 -i plughw:CARD=C920,DEV=0 -f v4l2 -thread_queue_size 2048 -input_format mjpeg -s 1280x720 -hwaccel vaapi -hwaccel_device /dev/dri/renderD128 -hwaccel_output_format vaapi -i /dev/v4l/by-id/usb-046d_HD_Pro_Webcam_C920_788F946F-video-index0 -vf 'scale_vaapi=format=nv12,hwupload' -c:v h264_vaapi -r 30 -g 30 -acodec aac -b:a 192k -f mpegts -vsync 1 -async 1 - </args>   </channel> </extras>

When I try to watch the webcam channel, I get the messages Starting Device then after a few seconds, Transcoding failed.
I notice the light on the webcam turns on for about half a second.

Digging through the system log files I found this

I have an older pc with an intel hd video that requires the use of the i965 video drivers.
I do have an environmental variable set that persists over reboots
LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=i965

The line from the system logs:
Code:

suggests to me that nextpvr is trying to use the iHD driver instead of the one I need to use.
So I am at a loss as what to try, or if there is a setting in nextpvr I can change to specify which driver to use.

NextPVR log files are attached as well.

WHY?: 100% CPU while watching select IPTV streams
Posted by: Pete (NZ) - 2021-09-04, 08:26 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (10)

I loaded http://i.mjh.nz/nzau/kodi.m3u8 into an IPTV device (NPVR 5.14), and am playing channels via Kodi v19.1, all on a single Windows 10/4GB/Intel i5 laptop, from Martinborough, NZ, via 4G mobile internet.

The NZ channels seem to play fine with around 15-25% CPU (Kodi specs displayed on screen via pressing "o" key), mostly 720p at the time.

However, I'd enabled a couple of Aus channels, and found that while playing them, e.g. ABC channel (also 720p), I was getting significant caching/buffering happening while watching in Kodi.

While the Kodi stream specs were onscreen (I was checking to see if there was a resolution/bitrate difference), I noticed the CPU was at 100% when playing the Aus stream.

Further investigation with "Process Hacker" revealed that Kodi was using around 5% and ffmpeg.exe, under the NPVR service, was maxing out the CPU. So I'm presuming that was the cause of the caching, not the internet stream bitrate/connection. (?)

I verified no recording was scheduled at the time.

I changed channel to TVNZ (720p), and CPU went down to the usual 20-25%, with ffmpeg showing little CPU use.
Switched back to ABC channel, and back up went ffmpeg's CPU use.

So what is the role of ffmpeg here? Why doesn't NPVR just pass the stream on to Kodi, without any transcoding? (...if that is indeed what it's doing to the ABC stream?). If it is transcoding, why doe NPVR think it's required? Is it a situation that is fixable?
The "Inputstream FFMPEG direct" plugin is enabled in Kodi, but I'm not sure exactly what that does, or if it's related.
(BTW, I have "Prefer no trancoding" set in Settings.)

Again, in advance, thanks for your generous help! Smile

  Schedules Direct Days
Posted by: MikeM - 2021-09-03, 07:16 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

I am using NPVR (5.1.4) with Kodi (19.1) and Schedules Direct for the EPG.

The Guide under both Kodi and NPVR only shows a couple of days and I would like it to show at least two weeks or even more. The guide does keep up to date.

In the NPVR config.xml file I can see the entry   <SchedulesDirectDays>14</SchedulesDirectDays>

In Kodi Settings I see Future Days to display = 14.

What else has to be set to get more days of guide info? Where are these settings entered?

Thanks, Mike

HOW: Restrict IPTV stream to a max. bitrate...?
Posted by: Pete (NZ) - 2021-09-03, 01:36 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (10)

I loaded http://i.mjh.nz/nzau/kodi.m3u8 into an IPTV device (NPVR 5.14), and am playing channels via Kodi v19.1

Similar to what Matt Huisman seems able to achieve with his various kodi addons for streaming providers, I'd like to be able to restrict the max. bitrate of the streams to 5Mbps (so a max resolution of 720p).

This is because I'm setting up a TV system for my elderly parents who live in a rural area and tend to have the Sky box on all day, every day, so would chew through gigs... and often their mobile internet isn't always up to scratch. I've found that setting Matt's addons to a max 5mbps bitrate for my parent's setup creates the optimal reliability for them.

I'd prefer to use NPVR for its wonderful ability to record FTA IPTV streams -- a feature that Kodi does not seem to officially support (I'm presuming due to it's avoidance of anything that could potentially be associated with piracy)

So any way of setting NPVR so that it only ever gets (so sources, as opposed to serves to a client) a 720p-max stream, or is it all dependent on the URL in the .M3U file? Or is it purely dependent on the client (kodi) to ask for a different stream?

Thanks for any help, and education, in advance! Smile

No Freesat EPG on new install
Posted by: simbloke - 2021-09-03, 08:10 AM - Forum: Linux - Replies (22)

Hi,

Just trying out Next PVR for the first time. I am running it on my Ubuntu based server but using Sat-IP. I installed using the deb but have also tried docker.

I can scan channels (on 28.2E) and get the expected hundreds of channels, but the EPG never populates. I went into the channels screen and used the auto map to set them all to Freesat UK (I know they're not all Freesat) but still nothing was picked up. I have given it hours to do the scanning.

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Sim

Photo How to setup Multidec with HDHomeRun HDHR4-2DT
Posted by: spin35 - 2021-09-03, 05:36 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hello NextPVR Forum, I've got a HDHomeRun twin tuner with most recent firmware that I use with NVPR 4.2.4 on a Windows 10 PC.
It's running fairly sweet, but it currently uses both tuners to record/play channels from the same frequency.  When I look at the Tuner status NPVR does not have a Virtual Channel or Program number and the data rate is 22 or so Mbps.  When I watch a channel with VLC the numbers are set and the data rate is 2-4Mbps.  I figure that NPVR is pulling through the whole stream with all the channels in there.

I've been looking in the forum and googling around and I think I need to install BDA drivers and then setup Multidec in my NPVR Device settings.
I have some BDA drivers that came with an old PCI Tuner card, but they are WinXP vintage and I'm not sure how drivers for a PCI card would help me with an Ethernet based Tuner.
I've found DVB Dream and they appear to have BDA drivers in their package, but I'm not sure how I can extract the drivers without having to install their whole package.

The NPVR manual pages are dated 2011 and make no mention of BDA drivers and I'm not confident to "make it up as I go along" so I was wondering if someone could point me to a set of instructions and direct me towards a set of BDA drivers that will allow me make the Multidec work.

On a side issue, I've stayed with V4.2.4 because "it Ain't Broke" and its been a reliable tool for a couple of years. Is it worth moving up to V5? Is it stable? Is there a seamless (or relatively trouble free) upgrade path?
