I installed Vista on my HTPC (specs in signature) and I am using EVR which appears to have resolved my stutter issues I had in XP (I tried everything possible to get rid of them with no luck). One problem I am having in Vista is pressing the Menu button while watching live TV. With VMR9 I would get Live TV in a window on the left side and the menu on the right. In EVR I see a flicker (with the menu appearing on the right) and the it goes right back to fullscreen live TV. Has anyone else experienced this?
I just built my new HTPC. Asus G33-based mobo, E2160, 2GB RAM, ATI TV Wonder 650 PCI, and NVIDIA 8400GS (for DVI). It's hooked up to my Toshiba 65" DLP. The HDTV has built-in tuners and my OTA reception both HD and SD is working great. However, when I stick that same coax up to my ATI card, I get nothing. I'm using the channel scan utility that installed with GB-PVR and I select the ATI 650 PRO option, and USA, all I get is static, static and more static. I even tried other card options with no difference.
I haven't used this card for several months, and I lost the CD that came with the card, so maybe I am missing some critical driver? ATI Tech support said I needed the CD for Catalyst Media Center, but the complete drivers were online (which is what I downloaded and installed).
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Btw, I LOVE this software so far. It looks great and I really look forward to tweaking it once I get this last major hurdle resovled.
sometimes playing a movie with subtitles selects the wrong subtitles language or font.
Is there a way to access vobsub during movie playback to control the subtitle file/language etc?
I want to upgrade my HTPC from Version 99.12 to 1.01.05. When running the Setup i get the following Error Message:
"Error 1904. Module C:\Programme\devnz\gbpvr\PsiParser.ax failed to register. HResult -2147010895. Contact your Support Personal."
I run the Installation as Administrator. The Operating System is XP Media Center Edition. I don't know what PsiParaser does and where it is registered. Can anybody help me please?
Thank you in advance.
I have a very large pictures library.
Entering the pictures library takes a very long time.
Browsing and viewing options are few, and slow.
My libraries are all on the home network - not on the HTPC.
The connection is a 802.11n @300Mbps. Steaming video and audio are smooth with no problems.
Why is the picture browsing so slow?
Also, is it possible to use an external app to do the task?
i.e. could I launch picasa when I click on "Pictures"?
When I schedule two recordings one immediately after the other I lose the second one. I schedule via the TV guide, and I have a standard five minute post padding set. What happens is that the second recording requirement is identified, and GBPVR stops the first recording. (It seems to want to transfer it to the scond tuner). It then starts the second recording, but then notices that the first one should still be recording, so it stops the second one and restarts the first. Result is that I get two files for the first recording and one for the second but the second one is of zero length.
The zipped log file is attached. This happened for the first time last night, but I replicated it today as per the attached log file. The offending secion starts at 2008-01-14 12:29:00.156. Both DVB tuners are working. If I schedule two recording simultaeneously they work fine (you can see it in the log attached too) I am running version 1.1.5.
I'm sure this question is asked a lot, and I realise that asking this a board dedicated to GBPVR isn't likely to be unbiased, but I thought I'd ask peoples opinions anyway.
I set out to build a MythTV box, first out of my old desktop, and then to be transferred to a nice media centre case with a few new components. One of my TV cards isn't supported by Linux, so I stumbled upon GBPVR, and although the other TV card I own doesn't work with GBPVR, I'm now not sure which way to go.
GBPVR seems easier to set up, and I know my way around Windows a little better than I do Linux, but I intend to set up the box and then leave it alone, so I won't let a little initial hard work put me off.
How do the features compare? What is Windows/GBPVR stability like? How much support does each program have, and how do plugins compare? Anything else I should be aware of?
ExternalDisplay is a plugin that displays PVRX2 information directly to a variety of different external LCD and VFD displays. It is an alternative to solutions using iMONVFD, which is limited to the Soundgraph VFD, or LCDSmartie. ExternalDisplay is a PVRX2 port of MediaPortal’sExternalDisplay.
Supported displays include HD44780, Crystal Fonz, iMON LCD/VFD, Toshiba, and VL Systems, although I have only been able to test the Soundgraph LCD (96x16 display – not the16x2 VFD)
Please see this post for the plugin and support thread.

Run the attached installer file and run ExternalDisplayConfig.exe. Please note that this plugin does not show up in GBPVR Config. Further documentation is in ReadMe.pdf in the plugins\ExternaDisplay folder.
Known Limitations
XML deserializer does not work in settings.cs when run as a plugin. Brute force is used, but doesnât have flexibility, and does not handle custom characters or isNull and isNotNull conditions within an AndCondition, or, OrCondition (This is only an issue if users decide to write their own xml file. I thought this might be a similar problem, but it doens't seem to be) [Fixed in Feb 20 release]
Driver does not shutdown gracefully. Eg the iMON driver should shut down and blank the display, or display the clock, but doesnât because all the threads just terminate. One solution is to wait for sub to implement a call to a âshutdownâ method in the plugin when PVRX2 terminates.
Music non ASCII characters are not displayed correctly
Soundgraph LCD sometimes has LiveTV and Recordings stutter/pause for several tenâs-hundredâs of milliseconds and then catches up. I am particularly interested to learn if this problem is widespread, or specific to my system
Graphic Visualisations available on some displays are not supported by ExternalDisplay.
Occasional SQLITE error upon shutdown.
TODO
Display current position and duration of recordings (waiting for sub to provide a method to do this)
Interface to allow other plugins to send messages to the display
Allow disk space monitoring of several drives, each with its own minimum space requirements
Flash the volume message when button is pushed and already at 100%, or 0%. (is there a GBPVR method the send âvolume button pushedâ)
NOT TESTED
Drivers other than iMONLCDg and DebugForm. Other drivers expected to work, since they are from MediaPortal.
Use with MVPs [Support included in Feb 20 release]
Vista
Use with GBPVR - I think there might be problems.
There is no support for, nor is there any intention to support, the display of system parameters such as fan speed and temperature, so please do not ask for it.
If there are any problems, please post the logs when asking for help. I'll try my best, by having only the Soundgraph LCD, I may be limited in what I can resolve. I've also probably reached the limit of my C# and .net expertise - hence the large number of known limitations.
Note: I use CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll version 3, and the plugin will not work with version 1 of this dll (it will give and error described in post #2 of this thread.)
Edit: Note on CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll; Clarification on Configuration of the plugin
Edit: Jan 26 2008 - Attach installer for new Beta.
Edit: Jan 27 2008 - Removed the old beta version.
Edit: Feb 05 2008 - Please see this post to address problems with the default xml configuration files that cause a lock up when there is no LiveTV data returned from the EPG database.
Edit: Feb 20 2008 - New Installer includes the following:
Default XML file to prevent lockups (Feb 05 edit)
XML Deserializer now works correctly
MVP support
Additional debug logging
Edit: Feb 21 2009 - Please see version 0.2 release here
Guys I'm interested in building a media server I mainly convert all my DVD's to ISO and all my music files are in mp3 format. I'm not interested in recording live TV all I want to do is play my music and video files. So is gbpvr right for me as I stated I don't want to record live tv can this function be disabled. Also what kind of hardware would I need on the server end since I'm only going to be doing music and playing back video I forgot to metion I also will use it for pictures. I want to be able to use a remote control to control the interface also. I'm also trying to decide what I need on the client end I know gbpvr can be used as a client however has anyone used this device http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6882103603.
