I just did a fresh install of windows vista and installed gbpvr 1.1.5. I had been using windows xp pro just fine I have a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 for the tuner. For some reason while watching live tv in Vista the video seems to be jumpy, and not play smooth, and the quality just seems to be bad. I have tried a few decoders and so far nvidia's pure video, and ffdshow have not helped at all.
Is there anything else I could try? What decoders do you recommend?
After playing for many hours I have now successfully set up a home theater PC that can control a coolsat 5000 flawlessly using the supplied IR blaster on a WinTV-PVR-500 MCE. http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/...00mce.html
No Coolsat ccf files needed, simply teach HIP "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0"
I was also able to use the latest remote drivers for the MCE as I tricked HIP in to mapping a different remote and thus can use the GBPVR MCE remote settings without the double click problem everyone has.
All my remote buttons work including page up and page down in guide. I tried the hacked driver for the MCE and hated it because many buttons did not work and I could not login to my computer with remote so this is awesome!!
If you have a Coolsat and winpv with IR blaster I want you to know that it works fine to change the Coolsat and I have zero missed or wrong input channels and I feel confident that live channel surfing and guide recording send the correct data to the sat and changes correctly with 100% accuracy.
Hip is a remarkable free tool to learn remote inputs and pass them on to the IR blaster.
I removed the tape on the IR bean and simply stuck it to the right of the clock and the IR is not weak as many have stated....
The trick is to input the delay timing when you set the capture source.
During my initial failures I was about one day away from buying a UIRT - USB for $60. No need now as imy wintv IR blaster does the job in flying colors.
It's been changing and recording dozens of channels for hours hours without one bad input.
I download the channel information from Shedulesdirect.
The EPG updates for a few seconds then all the data after 7:00 p.m. is no longer shown. I can't find a fix. I tried replacing GBPVRbackendcommon.dll but nothing changed. Am I missing somthing?
Windows XP Pro
Just wondering what type of signal levels all of the NZ satellite users are getting out there?
I am getting between 18-33% signal, 100% quality - is this too low, and could it cause some skipping in playback (sometimes the recoirding skips forward 10 mins, but other times there is no issue with the whole show)
(12483/TVNZ transponder is the lowest, and usually hangs arond 25%, whereas the TV3 transponder is more 33%)
I'm in Wellington CBD (not that I'd think it would make too much difference for a sat)
Would having the sat signal split to 12 different apartments cause any major signal drop? (installed by Sky when the building was constructed) - not sure how many of these people are actually connected to Sky, as Telstra supplies the whole building too.
I was tempted to set this up as a poll, but thought better of it...
Video I've been recording for the last two years seem to have been slightly corrupted on record in some way.
this shows up when i use "comclean" to cut out adverts and top and tail programs.
Although this has not been apparent on playback using GBPVR or Videolan, it is causing problem when encoding to DIVX
Videolan seems to play anything i throw at it but my new HD player, the Rhapsody N35 seems to only like clean DIVX's
I've recently moved to a newer server and still get the same errors above
If i encode any DVDs or such like with any programme, the rhapsody is happy to play it.
If i play the GBPVR files in the rhapsody if it happy
If i encode GBPVR files into DIVX using the same settings as abouve, it will not play them smoothly at all.
Is there anything i can do to smooth the programme file before i encode it that may help?
Firstly - the setPopup call isn't working in this piece of code. Everything else is fine and I see the Logger messages for 'About to set popup' then the one for creating the process....but no popup appears.
Code:
Logger.Verbose("Play invoked");
if (DVBTRadioProc == null)
{
Logger.Verbose("About to set popup");
setPopup(new GBPVRX2.Popups.PopupMessageBox(this, "Starting DVB-T Radio service. Please wait..."));
try
{
Logger.Verbose("About to create process for Dvbtr.exe");
DVBTRadioProc = System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(GBInstallDir + @"plugins\DVB-T Radio\Dvbtr.exe", "529834 8 9018 16384 18560");
}
catch (Exception e)
{
Logger.Verbose(e.ToString());
}
finally
{
setPopup(null);
}
}
Second question - Dvbtr.exe is a command-line program so I get a command prompt appear on screen. How do I start this minimized? I can see the Process.MainWindowHandle property but that is an IntPtr and I can't decide how to use it. Or is there another way?
The preview window is too small. I have my desktop resolution at 1600x1200 and I can't read most text in the preview window. This isn't as big an issue with most channels, but my cable system has Music Choice channels in the clear QAM range. These channels have infrequently updated screens and sometimes use weird fonts to display the ID.
It would be nice if the size were an option instead of being a fixed resolution. As it is I'd probably make it 4x or 8x the current size.
