  Confused channel changer 1.1.5
Posted by: garymeds - 2007-12-11, 03:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

hello,

fresh os and gbpvr install with newly created capture devices.

capture device 1 : hvr1300 (nova-t) BDA no channel changer
capture device 2 : pvr150 direct recording and exe channel changer

i set up the channels on capture device 1 first and have a few duplicate channels, example bbc1 which is channel #1 on capture1 and channel #101 on capture 2.

if i press 101 on the remote for BBC1, PVRX2 sends 1 to the .exe changer and doesn't tune into capture device 1 on channel 1.

is this something stupid i've done or is there a problem?
cheers

  Aerials ...
Posted by: blackpaw - 2007-12-11, 12:46 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

Setting up a PVR box and for various reasons I have 6 DVB tuners - 2 Dual and 2 Single, one of which has a pass through (WinFast 1000T).

I also have an external aerial on the roof which gives good reception - picks up all digital FTA channels at 80 - 90% Strength/Quality

I figure I'll need at least two splitters - will I have problems with degrading the signal? is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks - Lindsay

  Subtitle Capture and Database Search
Posted by: RangerBob - 2007-12-11, 11:14 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hello All,

Just read an interesting article here.

This Snapstream box has 10 tuners in it, and a paltry 1.5Tb storage. But the interesting bit for me was this:

"We've not seen anything like it in the DVR world: the DVR stores the closed captioning signal—where available—as a stream of text, which is then searchable by the end user like a database. Spelling errors on live television events aside, this allows users to flag any shows in which certain keywords pop up, and even send an e-mail alert when this happens."

Could be an interesting feature for GB-PVR. I can think of quite a few uses for this functionality!

What do you guys think?

  Skin Idea
Posted by: Hairy - 2007-12-11, 10:38 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (5)

I'm not exactly sure where to post this.

I first started messing around with GB's skins to see if I could learn a few Photoshop tricks really. So it's always been on the graphical side for me, I really don't have the coding abilities to release a proper skin for the community, but I've had a few people comment on the latest idea I've been working on. So I thought I'd see if anyone with real skinning abilities might be interested in working on my very rough idea.

I've attached a few thumbs, it's mainly just a background and task images, but I'd really like to give back to a community I've gotten a lot from, if even in a tiny way.

Let me know

Cheers

  Reducing to size of recordings
Posted by: joolzhaines - 2007-12-11, 10:35 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi,

Is there a way of reducing the size of the mpgs that gbpvr creates, if I use DIVX converter a 2.5GB file reduces to 500MB with very little quality loss but I have read somewhere that gbpvr can not play DIVX?

It would be nice if after recording a show gbpvr would auto reduce the recording to save space.

Thanks for your help

Julian

Black screen, and DVB EPG Doesn't work in NZ
Posted by: BenT - 2007-12-11, 09:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

Hi All

I'm trying to set up an old PC i've got as an HTPC. I've got a Hauppauge Nova-S-plus DVB card and am running Win2000.

After fumbling my way through the setup, I've got GBPVR up and running and detecting all the New Zealand freeview channels. I get a picture a picture in the preview window and sound. So far so good.

Problem comes when I try to update the EPG. It starts scanning OK and counts down from 60 seconds, but when it gets to 1 second it just stops and does nothing.
I've tried changing just about every setting I can find that looks even slightly related, but all to no avail

My next problem comes when I try to view live TV. I get sound OK, and the channel logo and info, but no picture.
I've tried just about all the recommended codecs, but still nothing. I get picture OK in GGPBV when using overlay manager, but in any other mode or in PVRX2 there is no picture.
Same thing when trying to view videos in the video library - no picture only sound.
I'm guessing its a codec conflict, but how do I tell which one is at fault??

Attached are my logs

Ben
