Hi All

I'm trying to set up an old PC i've got as an HTPC. I've got a Hauppauge Nova-S-plus DVB card and am running Win2000.

After fumbling my way through the setup, I've got GBPVR up and running and detecting all the New Zealand freeview channels. I get a picture a picture in the preview window and sound. So far so good.

Problem comes when I try to update the EPG. It starts scanning OK and counts down from 60 seconds, but when it gets to 1 second it just stops and does nothing.
I've tried changing just about every setting I can find that looks even slightly related, but all to no avail

My next problem comes when I try to view live TV. I get sound OK, and the channel logo and info, but no picture.
I've tried just about all the recommended codecs, but still nothing. I get picture OK in GGPBV when using overlay manager, but in any other mode or in PVRX2 there is no picture.
Same thing when trying to view videos in the video library - no picture only sound.
I'm guessing its a codec conflict, but how do I tell which one is at fault??

Attached are my logs

what are the specs of your pc
the video card may not be upto direct3d playaback ie pvrx2
you could try new drivers sometimes that helps

Thanks for the quick reply Stustunz

Specs of the machine are
AMD Athalon Thunderbird 1.2
512mb ram
GeForce MX440 graphics card
Win2000
Hauppauge Nova-S-Plus

Its old, but not that old. Still plays any sort of file fine in Windows Mediaplayer.
Running Filmerit tells me I have 305 filters installed. It found some errors, but fixed them.

And check on all the extras being installed. They are all either freshly installed or have been on it for a while.

If you go into you capture source settings and disable that 'Test' channel (which is only showing a test pattern anyway), does it get past the EPG problem you were having?

No picture during video playback with older nvidia card. Several users name reported lack of video in PVRX2 with their older nvidia cards like GeForce2/GeForce4 cards (MX440 etc). This was resolved by updating the nvidia drivers, specifically: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...stcount=30.

You can find more discussion about it in this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28694

Sweet. The drivers worked, and I now have a picture. Big Grin

I disabled the Test chanel and updated the EPG, but it still didn't work. Just stalled at 1 second again.

Attached is the log. It's not showing the same error any more, but I don't know why its still not happy.

I'm not really sure. There is no obvious sign of the cause in your logs.

Well, I grabbed a spare hard drive and installed a copy of Vista on it.

Now the EPG works OK, but I can't get a picture again, and I can't find any drivers for Vista to support my crappy old GeForce. (Its a GeForce2 MX400 too by the way, not a MX440 as per my previous post)

I noticed when I try to update the EPG on the old XP install, it plays sound from one of the chanels while it trys to update.
On the new Vista install it did not play sound while it updates.

I also had a corrupted download of GBPVR the first time, which caused file psiparser.ax not to register sucessfully. Forgot about that on the original install, only remembered when I went to install on Vista. I re-installed with a new download, but it made no difference in my old XP install. What does that file do? Download EPGS? :p

Oh well, off to do a clean install of XP I guess.
