My Scientific Atlanta 2100 has RCA video and audio out going into my PVR-150. Viewing TV looks "softer" in GB-PVR compared to what comes out of the cable box direct to TV. Using the cable box remote (no blaster), when a channel is changed it takes 2 or 3 seconds for it to show on the TV - normally channel changing takes less than 1 second.
What kind of config settings will make channel changing "instant" and make the picture quality better?
Then I have a question about picking a channel changer using the blaster, I have no clue about which option to pick in the config dropdown list.
My hardware
Compaq D510 SFF (P4-2.5HGz)
NVIDIA GeForce 6200
Single 160gb IDE drive
XP Pro
Dedicated to GB-PVR
Thanks for taking mercy on a newbie. Yes I have run through the forums and stuff.
Im having some issues with my hauppauge win tv nova t 500. In that there is some sort of hardware compatability going on causing random bsods. Other than the random bsods it is a great card. http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=9888
A lot of other people seem to be having the same problems
So i gave up trying to sort it and bought a pinnacle pctv dual dvb-t pro card. Which doesnt crash, but it doesnt pick up all the channels and those it does have poor reception.
So now i have two card niether of which work properly.
Any recomendations as to what should be next on my list? Cheaper the better, dual tuners, DVB-T, and obviously they need to be able to work with gbpvr.
Edit: I realize that the title makes it look like I'm blaming the interference on the ATI card. I'm not. The card worked great in a normal tower. It was my cramming of components next to each other in a small footprint case that is causing the interference...

Hi Guys. I have been using GBPVR for well over a year now, and love everything about it. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was using an old Dell tower to do everything, and it all worked great
Recently, I decided to splurge and built a very small HTPC, using a Flex mobo and other small pieces, including a very small custom built case. Needless to say, everything is crammed in the case, with literally millimeters seperating the different parts.
Now, I am getting some interference on my cable signal. It only affects a few channels, and it isn't very severe. My concern is that it affects all tv's connected to my cable line.
Is there a way to isolate the interference so that only my PVR is affected? I'm thinking like a coax version of a diode? Would a ferrite clamp help?
I don't really care about a little interference on my recordings since I just watch the things on my iPod, but I don't want to see the lines on all of my tv's.
Anybody doing this? Is it possible? Does it have to be wired or is wireless fast eniough? Which DVB-S capture card do you use? How fast does the computer have to be?
I can browse to it on the localhost, but when I try to access via computer on the network I can't get it to open. I'm guessing that IIS or something along those lines needs to be installed. If so, what's my best option, I'm running Windows XP Pro.
hi!!!
i have to capture two tv analogic channels in the same computer at the sametime, is possible to do it with gbpvr software if i install two tv tuners in my computer?
in the features of your product you wrote that "No GB-PVR limit on number of capture devices", are you refering to tv tuners too?
i haven't bought those tuners yet, so, can you recommend me any that work perfect with gbpvr? (i live in spain)
is possible to schedule two differents recordings at the same time but in differents channels (obviously using two tuners)?
I've just set up a computer as a PC client for GBPVR. (I'm using PVRX2.exe, configured for streaming.) I have not been able to play any recorded programs. Every time I select a recording and press the play dialog button, I get a black screen; about 2 seconds later, I get back to the recordings menu. This is accompanied by the following bunch of messages in GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file on the server.

I dug a little deeper by looking at the client/server communications using Wireshark. I see several TCP sessions opened. I see a suspiciously high number of TCP RESETs. There isn't a firewall, by the way. The TCP sessions are opened completely first (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK), then they're RESET. When I look at the payloads of the packets, I see the contents of my ComSkip file, but I don't see the beginning of the MPG file. I don't think anything should be timing out -- from first SYN to last ACK is 1.46 seconds.
I use WinXP with limited user accounts; I use administrator sparingly. I have had plenty of permissions problems with GBPVR, but I don't think any permissions problems are causing this behavior. Still, keep this in mind.
Any suggestions? Any requests for log/config files?
By the way, Sub, nice use of the 0xdead_beef protocol... :-)
Because of the Release 1.0 of GBPVR, I bought a used Ati Radeon 9600 from Saphire. This is a VMR9 Card. I installed the card with the delivered driver cd and it worked with VMR9.
After using the card for a while I recognized a stuttering every second while playing an avi file, so I tried to download the latest catalyst driver from ati. I installed the driver and try to start GBPVR, but GBPVR tells me that the card is not a VMR9 card. Does someone know why?
Unfortunatelly the stuttering of the avi files is still there.
I removed the old drivers with Hwclear and installed the new drivers from the Hauppauge site a few days ago.
I have subtitles enabled in everyway in gbpvr config and still cannot get the captions to work. I am using files in english and spanish with no luck with any of the files.
I downloaded mpeg2srt but I got lost trying to figure it out.
Please help.
