HD streaming from PC to TV via MVP?

Anybody doing this? Is it possible? Does it have to be wired or is wireless fast eniough? Which DVB-S capture card do you use? How fast does the computer have to be?

Cheers

Is there any other streamer (or other method) which is HD capable? (that will work through GBPVR of course Big Grin )

Same question but backwards: can GBPVR talk to a D-Link DSM-330?

The only device that has fill intergration, giving user interface etc, is the MVP.

You can use other device for playing your recordings, but you'll have to setup some upnp server software and point it at your recordings directory. (ie, the media appliance will be a glorified file browser)

I see 4 different clients for HD media extender users right now

1. Those that want to watch recorded live tv as mpeg-2 or h.264, who I want to support with emulation mode changes I hope to make.

2. DVR-MS users, who likely will want a MCE extender like the xbox 360

3. news group and torrent users who want HD in MKV containers

4. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray rippers. who want 1080p in the new .ISO formats.

GBPVR and the MVP deals well with the SD equivalents of these, but the future doesn't look good if you want all of this without using a true GBPVR client. I think the hardest hit with the fewest choice will be those who prefer DVR-MS.

Sub, is there anyway to avoid an "mkvforcefailure" exit with mvpmode when I attempt to play a file in an mkv container? FFMPEG seems to be able to keep up, at 50% cpu , even at 1080p, but I have to rename the file to avi to fake it.

Try the attached patch and let me know. It should work.

Amazing, I don't even have time to take the dog for a walk and there's a patch! Works great with 720p and 1080p x.264, and ffmpeg even transcodes DTS files I can't listen to on my PC. However, I think this might be tough going on slower machines, on mine every single read is short as follows and I did need to boost the pre-buffer for 1080p

Code:
2007-11-25 19:06:55.633    VERBOSE    [7]    Not all bytes read. Got:141312  Filesize now:4036608
2007-11-25 19:06:55.633    VERBOSE    [7]    End of stream

One new thing in the logs which might be work in progress,

Code:
2007-11-25 19:06:23.336    WARNING    [6]    Unexpected error in SkinHelper.loadImageFromFile(C:\movies\mkv\x264-sample.mkv): System.OutOfMemoryException: Out of memory.
   at System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(String filename, Boolean useEmbeddedColorManagement)
   at System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(String filename)
   at GBPVR.Public.SkinHelper.loadImageFromFile(String filename)
