I wrote a web page for NextPVR primarily for myself because I have trouble keeping track of new shows now and in the future. The page draws it's data from this page https://www.tvmaze.com/ The page has two main features, first it shows all new shows around the world including shows on many streaming platforms. The second feature is it shows the new show upcoming today.
Although it is a static page, it does try to integrate with NextPVR creating recurring recording and season recording. It tries to match shows to the guide data you have when the titles match It doesn't have any server-side smarts so there are inevitable warts that aren't worth fixing
Enough prelude here is a demo video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DniqYhqHkwi of it in action. If anyone is interested or has questions let me know. I used a similar feature in V4 through Searchlite but since I probably was the only one so I figure it isn't worth documenting it at this point. If you have ideas for similar pages let me know too.
Hi All,
I used to be a NextPVR backend user many years ago on Windows... before it was apparently available for Linux. TVheadend is doing my head in a bit and I just noticed this section indicating NextPVR can be installed on linux..... oooooh I'm interested again.... does it work on a raspberry pi does anyone know???
Thanks
I would love for there to be a way to select or de-select groups of channels in the channel list using the SHIFT key (Click a channel, hold SHIFT while clicking the channel at the end of the group). In order to avoid getting a "Failed: A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host" error on some channels that I make recordings on, I have to regularly re-do my channel scan (usually every 2 weeks to be safe). Perhaps my cable co routinely changes things, I don't know why I have to do it, but I do. Anyway, there is a block of about 100 music channels that I have to de-select by clicking one at a time... Very tedious. Having he SHIFT selection option available, would make this process much easier. Thanks.
Tried doing searching everywhere but apparently nobody has the exact same error as me. Logs don't give much useful info either unfortunately.
Situation: Trying to add m3u/ xml tv (.xml.gz) and getting errors for reading the XMLTV file. M3u adds fine if no xml tv is provided.
Further info: file is formatted fine, can't see any obvious errors in the xml. am able to access from multiple machines without read errs.
Running docker amd64, showing current version as Version: 5.1.1.210328
I'm a long time user of NPVR and love it.
Recently started having issues with the KODI add-on (Matrix! Grr!), so have started looking at other options, and the Android client was worth a shot, so I installed it on my phone to test so as not to upset the wife whilst watching via Kodi.
Anyway, no issues what-so-ever, excellent, I'll go an install it on the Shield, which uses my google account.
Found it via the app store, only option is to pay again, so off I go an submit the payment.
Google comes back and says, you already own this, so refunds me straight away, and still no option to install.
I find it listed in the Library of Apps, not installed on that device, and open it, and it takes me back to the purchase page, and around and around we go.....
Am I missing something? Surely you can have it installed on multiple devices with the same google account?
Happy to pay per device, as it's well worth it, but who should I be contacting? Is it an NPVR thing or Google???
Anyway, any advice appreciated, if some one else has seen similar.
Steve
In order to get my new Android TV TV and various chromecasts with google tv working with my TV server without the need for Kodi. I thought I'd give NextPVR a go. I'm installing the server on windows - install and setup couldn't have been easier but the problem is tuning the sat receiver - I read through the forum and saw that you can get an updated ini from kingofsat - so I did that for 28.2e and it finds 100's of channels - but most are duplicates for the various regional versions of say BBC, ITV etc. Has anyone got an up-to-date freesat .ini file that I could use to save spending hours 'fixing' what I have?
Also Channel 4 is missing (both sd and HD)
I also read in one of the threads here that you were looking to use bouquets (is that right?) in a future release - did that ever happen? it would really take the pain out of getting Freesat working in a friendly way. I read in these forums that TVHeadend works that way?
Lastly - the NextPVR android app doesnt show up in the list of apps on the chromecast with googleTV - am I missing something? I downloaded (and paid) on my phone and it works brilliantly.
Thanks,
Sam
P.S. I dont have anything against Kodi, far from it - its just seems overkill if all you want is to quickly watch TV from a googleTV setup. I have run Kodi on odroid boxes for years with mediaportal back end and its worked very well - but I thought it time to embrace the stuff that now shipped in the new TVs :-)
I'm currently running version 5.0.9.201026. It seems like version 5.1.1.210329 has a fix for a problem I was having with missing channel logos, so I'd like to upgrade. I note that the directions for upgrading are quite simple, but I want to verify that, when I do upgrade, my settings, recordings, and scheduled recordings will be preserved.
Will these items be preserved?
Sorry if this is a dumb question and thanks in advance for any help.
I have 3 choices for the target directory when I add new recordings. In the WebApp, I can add a new individual recording (i.e. record once, not recurring) from the TV Guide and can select the desired recording directory. However, when I click on the on the resulting item in the WebApp on the "Scheduler/Pending" screen, the directory shown on the details is always the first one in the list -- not the one that was actually selected. This would appear to be an issue with the dialog's initialization because the recording will still occur in the directory that was initially selected. Also the details for the recording do appear correctly in the Desktop app.
I think this is a bug since the the selected directory does show correctly for recurring items that are on the Pending screen. This can make planning recordings from the WebApp difficult because, for me, one the target directories is a ramdisk with limited space. I can never tell where a recording is actually going to be saved.
I have a strange problem, if i want to watch a station via Kodi or browser i get Failed to start requested stream, but if i try to record it works fine with a 5 minute test so far. Any ideas how i can fix this?
