  Possible to stream GBPVR screen?
Posted by: DrDDT - 2007-10-08, 12:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Is it possible to stream the GBPVR screen so other clients, like VLC or XBMC can pick it up?

I know about the mediampv, but I'd like to use other clients.
Something like Windows Media Encoder can do with 'broadcast a live stream'.

  question about USB tuners
Posted by: gangaskan - 2007-10-08, 12:44 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

i'm looking at experimenting with a USB HD tuner, but i am still unclear as to what you can or cant do with HD tuners.

mainly, i want to watch my digital/HD channels via time warner (i think i read somewhere its possible, but cant do on demand?) also, i wanted a second mpeg2 tuner for my current analog cable. i do have one extra PCI slot, however my maze 4 waterblock is kind of covering it Tongue

i am fairly confident my pc is capable of doing HD

specs are :
plain 256meg PNY 6800 PCIE
2 gig corsair / kingston ram (4x 512 in dual channel)
some NForce board (dont remember the model but its a foxxcon)
stock opteron 165 very limited on OC options due to my mobo
PVR-150 MCE
vista business
1x 160 gb drive
1x 250 gb drive

should i bother getting a HD tuner? or stick with a analog with mpeg2? mainly, my focus is on using it as a second source (is there a way to record with one source or does it just go with what is available first?) it has to be USB and i want to stick with hapaugee if possible.

can anyone shed some light on possible USB tuners, cheaper the better, but i dont want to sacrafice image quality for it being x dollars cheaper.

  Best ATSC tuner
Posted by: elbryyan - 2007-10-08, 12:29 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Does anybody know how the Dvico Fusion HDTV5 RT Gold tuner and the Vbox Cat's eye 150 compare? I'm looking to add a new ATSC tuner to my machine but have had issues with weaker signals in the past as it seems there is a lot of interference in the cable line dropped in my living room. I've heard good things about the Vbox's ability to lock on to weaker signals but in another thread here people were talking how good the Dvico Fusion is. The Dvico may be out of my price range now but I may be able to save up for it if it just does alot better than the Vbox 150. Thanks for any input.

  DVR-MS and Buffer Overun
Posted by: mruane - 2007-10-08, 09:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi

I have configured v1.0.16 to save DVB-S output as DVR-MS. Tonight I set up a bunch of recordings - all of which recorded just fine. But, when I try to watch from a client mode PC using PVRX2 or GBPVR and the client running Vista 32bit, I get a buffer overrun error as soon as I start to watch the recordings.

Playback on Windows Media Player is just fine as is playback on Nero. Its just in a client mode PVRX2/GBPVR that I get this error.

Has anyone experienced this?

Cheers Mike

No Channels after Config & EPG Setup. Help!
Posted by: AllenRM - 2007-10-08, 08:51 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've been reading a lot in the last three days about GB-PVR and Xmltv in the hope I could get things going without posting a message here but I'm really stumped now so I hope someone can help.

I'm using a PVR-250 with the Direct Recording plugin and the Xmltv Plugin for EPG. Over the past 24 hours I've downloaded and installed I-Xmltv, signed up with Schedules Direct and tried twice to download listings from them. I don't think I ever succeeded in downloading any listings although the DOS box did indicate listings were being downloaded. Afterwards, I was never able to get EPG setup in GB-PVR. Could never find the TVGuide.xml file and no channels are listed in GB-PVR. I read about a problem at SD with the newest version of GB-PVR (which I am running) so I installed the patch but still no channels. A short time ago I was looking through some of the log files and I found the following statement repeated again and again throughout the log:

"2007-10-08 04:06:08.209 ERROR [5] Caught unexpected exception: System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: Unable to open the database file..." along with some additional information. Oh, the video part of GB-PVR works great. Have been able to watch a number of my MPEG files and have been pleased with the results. By the way, the OS is Windows XP Home, AMD Athlon, Nvidia graphics card, Asus A7V600 MB with 1 GB RAM.

Will greatly appreciate any help you can give.

Late to the party again I know
Posted by: stangdaman - 2007-10-08, 07:26 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I haven't upgraded or anything in a long time. Mostly because GBPVR has been running really well. I'm kind of a if it aint broke don't fix it kind of guy. I was using version 99.5. I have been putting off messing with finding new epg source because my monitor burned out this summer and trying to install software or do anything in windows is such a pain on my SD tv. Way too much squinting. Well I got a new monitor this week. Actually a new TV an Olevia 32" LCD, which is also awesome by the way. No more monitor and TV just one monster monitor. Well anyways I decided to upgrade last night before doing anything else and just wanted to say wow. This is amazing. I don't usually marvel at upgrades that much but way to go. I really like the new look and the customizable skins and everything great release. Thanks.

DVDs Ripped DVDs and Hauppauge remote
Posted by: stangdaman - 2007-10-08, 07:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Is there a way in the config to have it use the remote differently when playing DVDs and ripped DVDs then when watching recorded shows? For example when I watch a ripped DVD on GBPVR and hit the skip button it does the usual skip forward of whatever it is (30 sec. I think). Is there a way to make it skip to the next scene or chapter instead?

Also, is there a button assigned for the Hauppague 45 button remote for choosing different sizes for you picture. When I watch live tv even though it should be in 16:9 I still get two small bars on the side. Not like what you would see if the picture was supposed to be in 4:3 but almost like it thinks the screen is smaller then it is. With DVDs and other things I don't have this problem.
