hi, i brought a SAPPHIRE 100204L Radeon Theatrix 650 PRO , it include this
so i'm thinking about whether i can connect my ps2 to my tv tuner , then i use some software that i can play ps2 in my lcd?/
[I've searched the forum and wiki and can't find anything that addresses this. If I missed something, please let me know!]
I'm using an HVR-1600 to record over the air HD (DVR-MS) and Analog (MPG) programs. I think most of the HD programs must be 1080i, as the file sizes are huge (7GB per hour) and playback is a little jerky (but incredibly clear). The hard drive is filling up way too quick with files this large.
I tried transcoding my DVR-MS programs to MPG, but that didn't change the size.
I'm just playing these back on a regular TV, and I'm fine with a quality anywhere from VCR to DVD quality, which I expect could be easily kept down to 1-2GB per hour.
What would I need to do to reduce the size of these files? I would prefer to keep everything in MPG. I'm in the US so it's NTSC.
We seldom watch anything live (and usually not for several days), so it's not essential to convert them quickly. I just need them converted automatically, preferably within 24 hours. It would be really nice to be able to convert my existing DVR-MS files as well.
Any suggestions, tips, or detailed walk-throughs would be very much appreciated!
This is a subject that I wish I had not started reading about! Before I had no idea that PC's use a different colorspace to that of, say, a DVD player, and that the way colours are presented on a PC changes depending on what video renderer you use!
So just wondered how other users have tackled this issue?
My concern was banding and crushed blacks when using GBPVR with a digital (LCD) display. I started finding threads like this one http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=523614
And I have now managed to eliminate these issues by adjusting my display.
Certainly I have found this subject, along with deinterlacing, to be the most difficult to grasp when it comes to using an HTPC...

I had posted on another forum about this a while back and for some reason I just thought of it recently. I never really got much of a response but I figured there seems to be much larger community from all over on this forum. What exactly was the beef here? Not that I will be shedding too many tears for Microsoft but what's wrong with them bundling media player with their OS. It's free to anyone who has it and it's not as if they restrict people from using some other software if they should so choose. That's not a smart ass remark I really am interested in understanding the reasoning behind it.
Will Win2k not run PVRX2? When we try it says "this system does not support vrm9" . I found in the configuration on the wiki that W2K does not support vrm9 rendering. I set this to overlay mananger in the config still no go. Also when I try using GBPVR I receive error object not found when click on live tv. I had this working fine under XP but just had a trial copy of XP and had to go back to 2000 so I am stuck.
I have a Gyration MCE remote control with built-in air mouse. It is pretty sweet but I'd like to add more functions to control various other functions in Windows. For example, I'd like to program a button to be the equivalent of Alt-Enter and one to be Alt-Tab. Anyone know how to do this?
is there something special with this combination? I just moved the card from my old Windows XP machine to the new one running Vista.
Vista automatically installed drivers 1.18.21.23257 and insists on them beeing optimal. Do I have to install the complete Hauppauge software? WindowsMCE regognized the new tuner card and was able to record and do live tv.
But I would prefer using GB-PVR. I configured the card the same way as I did on the XP machine, but to no avail: Live tv is allways a blank screen. Recordings are defective .mpg files.
The tuning assistent finds all channels after complaining about not beeing able to connect the audio pins - I've already heard that that is normal.
Basically GB-PVR does work on the Vista machine: There is built in card (AverMedia M779) and I managed to configure it to work with GB-PVR.
I have a Windows XP machine configured with a Hauappage PVR-150 card running version 1.0.16. I am trying to get another computer setup as a client over my home network and when I try to watch a recording or live TV I only have audio - no video.
Two other machines on my network are already configured as clients and they work just fine so I know the sharing is setup properly.
The client not working is also running v1.0.16 and this is what I tried so far:
- Changed decoder from system default to Nero Video Decoder.
- Tried all video renderer options.
- Tried all BDA multiplexer options.
- Opened a recording over the network with Windows Media player and both audio and video worked properly.
I don't really understand the video renderer options or BDA multiplexer options so I may be off base with my testing. The log files are attached and these were the settings in my test:
- Nero Video Decoder
- Microsoft DV-MRS
- Configured for streaming mode.
Finally got through my installation problems, but now have a new one. I have no audio on Channel 52. All other channels appear to have audio. I'm getting audio on Channel 52 with the cable connection to my television, but not on GBPVR.
My card is a Hauppauge PVR-150 and I'm running GBPVR on Windows XP. I appreciate any suggstions.
