I've mentioned this remote before - but I just got a Hauppauge 1600 and saw many postings on people getting it to work with the Hauppage IR receiver by using Phillips remote codes. I started this process then I discovered it actually has a code for the Hauppauge - 90% of the buttons worked and it learned the other few with no problems.
Its a $20-$30 one remote solution, works my GB-PVR, TV, Cable Box and my receiver with minimal effort so I can't recommend it more.
Here's what I did to get I-xmltv to work with Schedules direct.
This quasi-guide assumes you had I-xmltv running with the free zap2it labs EPG.
I used I-xmltv v1.2 (build 9/11/06).
Here are my I-xmltv user settings:
Code:
REM *** User Settings ***
SET DaysOfEPG=14
SET Incremental=0
SET Zap2ItStatus=2
SET AddDetails=1
SET MVSwitches=/md/() /mr/{} /m#/[]
SET TVSwitches=/sx /oe /se/ - /dd/() /df/Y-M-D /gd/1 /pi/* /tp/-6
REM *** Test & Troubleshooting settings ***
SET FixUTC=1
SET EmptyEPG=0
SET ReProcess=0
SET Use_tv_cat=0
SET MinDaySize=60
SET ForceDownload=0
SET PaddSoapRequest=0
REM *** Organize channels & Shift Listing times. (Not used with GBPVR)***
SET OrganizeChannels=0
SET ShiftListings=0
SET Offset=-0600
SET ShiftedFile=TV.XML
The important is the SET Incremental=0 entry. In my limited testing it seemed that it worked best.
Delete or rename the tv_grab_na_dd.conf file in the .xmltv directory.
Extract the files and move the xmltv.exe into your I-xmltv folder which will overwite the old xmltv.exe file.
Doubleclick on your UpdateEPG.bat file in the GBPVR directory. I-xmltv will start and since you deleted the tv_grab_na_dd.conf, it will ask you for info to create a new one.
Fill out your Schedules Direct name, password, offset and lineup choice as requested. A new tv_grab_na_dd.conf should then be in the .xmltv directory.
In the GBPVR config app, set your recording source to XMLTV plugin. Set the path to the TVGuide.xml in your I-xmltv directory.
You can now test it by starting UpdateEPG.bat and manually importing the EPG from the config app or run pvrx2.exe -updateepgonly.
Why is this question here? I'm doing the wiki, and of all people I should be able to get this working... What am I doing wrong?
My biggest problem is that I'm trying to migrate from Zap2it to SD. I'm trying to keep my recording schedule.
It's possible that because I'm trying to keep the recurring recording schedule, that there are differences in channel numbers. That may be the problem indeed.
One thing I noticed while trying is that after several attempt, I became unauthorized. Am I being locked out because of too many requests for data?
Anyway, I have tried to empty the EPG in the Capture source screen, and then update with the new settings. Usually the channels are out of order...
I did get them in the right order once, but didn't know what I did right so I could document it...
Has anyone here had any luck getting the IR Blaster from irblaster.info to work with HIP? Mike from irblaster.info reports that his hardware works with LIRC, but is unfamiliar with HIP and is not sure whether it will work with it or not.
I have a very weird problem, and I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything else like it.
Here's the background. I use my GBPVR system for digital OTA to capture ATSC in the USA. I use a DVico Lite card. I have a NVidia 6200 card, which works fine for HighDef output. I use winlirc and irex to capture signals from my IR remote and convert them to keypress events, and that all has worked fine. I was using NVidia PureVideo decoder with Overlay renderer.
Last week I upgraded from .99.x to 1.0.16 of GBPVR. As you all know, to use the new interface, I was forced to use VMR 9, which at first caused me problems with my decoder. A couple of support threads suggested I download and use the MPV decoder, and I did. They also suggested that I start the new executable with the -FSE flag, to force exclusive mode.
Yaaaay! That made everything (almost) look smooth and great, and better than using PureVideo with Overlay as I was previously.
The only problem is when I was watching a signal from a station that was broadcasting in 1080i. The deinterlacing to my progressive scan HD set was horrible. I messed around with the deinterlacing options of the MVP decoder, and nothing really gave me a great picture, until I tried the checkbox marked "Set interlaced flag in output." (Or something like that, I can't remember exactly what it said.) That now gave me beautiful output on the interlaced sources. Yaaaay! I'm guessing that checkbox made the decoder put something in the video stream to indicate to my TV to use its de-interlacer, or something like that. (???) Anyway, it looked great, whether the source was 720p or 1080i.
But, my last problem is this: With that flag on, AND watching a 1080i source program (either live or recorded), the remote barely works. It only gets maybe one of 10 or 20 remote keypresses. I initially tried everything, new batteries, putting the remote right up to the IR receiver, etc, but I figured that wasn't the problem when I unchecked the "Set interlaced flag in output", and then the problem went away and the remote worked fine again.
It only does that if that box is checked, AND the source is 1080i. If the source is 720p, then I still get good remote behavior. Interesting.
My only guess is that checking the box makes the CPU do too much work, and the winlirc or irex applications don't get enough access to the procesor. However, initial checking indicates there isn't much of a difference in CPU workload with that box checked or unchecked.
I've verified that the GBPVR app. has focus, so that's not the issue with keypress events getting there.
I've also verified that the keyboard works just fine when in this state, even when my remote's having problems, so the issue is definitely with my remote software, somehow.
Is there something I can do to try to give winlirc or irex a higher priority. Or perhaps should I switch to something like HIP?
Does anyone have any experience, how can one access his home computer's EWA, when at work he sits behind a proxy, which enables only limited ports - of course only the main ones, like 80?
I'm going to be using an xml file for my EPG for the next little while and would like some clarification.
Here's what I plan to do:
dl the xml epg data at 2:00 am using windows task manager
after the dl I check to make sure that a file of sufficient size is created
once the file size is checked I move this file over t the real location
Will this work? Should I do this using updateEPG.bat instead? If I don't use updateEPG.bat does this mean my Update EPG button won't work in the gui?
One of the main things I'm concerned about is that there will be a short time where the xml file will be inaccessable. Will GPBVR be able to deal with this? Worse yet, will GBPVR lock the file when I try to update it manually?
When recording a programme with teletext subtitles, I've configured GBPVR to capture the subtitles to a .SRT-file. This works fine. The problem I'm having is with the timing of the subtitles in the .SRT-file. The subtitles start out in sync, but start to slip more and more out of sync while playing. The weird thing is, there doesn't seem to be any logic in how much the subtitles are out of sync or whether they lag behind or appear too early. Is this a known problem, and is there a fix, or is there something wrong with my configuration?
My music collection is stored in the following two-level directory structure (I guess most people do it that way):
Artist
+- Album
| +- 01 Song
| | etc
etc
In the Artist and Album directories I have images of the artist or the album cover. For navigation I therefore use the thumbnail mode. However, when navigating the songs I find the thumbnail mode not very intuitive, because there are no images to show and the thumbs seem like a waste of space. Here I always use the list mode. I thus have to switch between the modes when going from albums to songs.
It would be nice if this was done automatically, meaning that a switchover to list mode is performed as soon as a directory does not contain any subdirectories.
If I missed an option that already supports this or can achieve this in another manner, please let me know.
