I've mentioned this remote before - but I just got a Hauppauge 1600 and saw many postings on people getting it to work with the Hauppage IR receiver by using Phillips remote codes. I started this process then I discovered it actually has a code for the Hauppauge - 90% of the buttons worked and it learned the other few with no problems.

Its a $20-$30 one remote solution, works my GB-PVR, TV, Cable Box and my receiver with minimal effort so I can't recommend it more.

It seems to have decent battery life - I actually use rechargeables - the only slightly annoying thing is that you have to hit a button for the backlight to show so if you haven't hit a key for a while you may need two keypresses if its on the 'chameleon' section.

I had several all in one remotes over the years and they work fine.

I have had a Harmony for the past year or so and will never use anything else. I felt a little silly at first paying $120.00 for a remote but it was worth every penny. No more macros or code books. The online code database is updated constantly, so you don't have to worry about buying a new piece of equipment that will not work with your remote. They even had codes for my air conditioner and satellite radio.

Of course, most of the One-For-All remotes are JP1 compatible which allow you to interface with your PC and create almost any code or feature you can think about on a $20 - $30 remote.
