This weekend I upgraded from 99.5 to 1.016 and it went well. After reading the docs and installing hte various components I had no problems with the initial upgrade.
Now I tried installing the Community Skin! I installed the CommunitySkin_Setup and SkinPlugin_Setup as described on the Community Skin page. Now I cannot start GBPVR OR the Config without receiving an error in Microsoft .NET Framework, Unhandled Exception, "Object reference not set to and instance of an object". If I continue at this point the Config does run but the Community Skin does not show up in the Current Skin list.
Also, the DOCS are very confusing as to the application for the Community Skin. It SEEMS to say that there are two versions, one for the new interface PVRX2 and a different one for the old interface GBPVR. If I start GBPVR nothing works without the unhandled exception error so I assume the docs are merely confusing and the community skin only works with PVRX2. If I start PVRX2 the system runs OK but the Sommunity skin does not get applied.
I've just built a HTPC using the following components:
Asus M2NPV-VM with onboard Geforce 6150
Athlon X2 3600+
1GB DDR2-800
Western Digital 500GB SATA-II HDD
Lite-On 20X DVD-RAM+/-RW
Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500
Windows XP Home SP2
Installed latest drivers for everything, trying to get GB-PVR to work but tuning is totally buggered, Prime is Channel 3, TV2 is TV1 and everything else is snow.
So, how the heck do you setup the tuning properly on this thing???
Also, there is horizontal tearing across the video sometimes in Live TV mode, and I'm sure the A/V gets out of sync sometimes.
Would it be possible have an option in the config so that you could select GBPVR and it's components to run with realtime priority, so that other processes starting don't cause the video to skip (would be useful for my old PC).
I know you can do this from the command line with "start /realtime something.exe" but would be nice to have it all set in the config.
I'd like to see the pre-padding of shows skipped on playback of recordings.
For instance, if I record a show from 2100 to 2130, what gets recorded by default is, I think, 1 minutes early and 2 minutes after, or 2059 to 2132. I find I always have to fast forward by about a minute, as you would expect.
Basically, PVRX2 should look up the pre-padding time in config and skip forward by that time automatically on playback. If you need to, you can rewind if the show started early.
I am trying to set up a config file to allow me to run 2 MVPs with different settings (one 4:3, one 16:9), I can see how to do it using $IP, however I can't predict which MVP will get allocated which IP address by my DHCP server on my router. I was hoping to be able to use MAC address to do this but can't work out how, any ideas?
I'v been looking at the guide to define a new capture card in "direct.ini", I can fully understand the part about finding the filter-names using GraphEdit, but the pin names seems to pop out of thin air to me. How and where are the pin names defined, and how does one tell GBPVR which output pin form which filter that connect to which input pin in the next filter?
I'm rebuilding my system and having no luck whatsoever getting my TV card working under GBPVR.
The Hauppage software works so the card's OK.
I recalled I had to add entries to the BDA.INI file which I've copied over and the config tool seems happy that the two tuners are OK (I still have the working version on another partition, on checking the details seem the same).
When I tell the config tool to scan the EPG (I think that's my next process to identify the channels?) it just pops back in a few seconds saying it's saving the data and seems to have found nothing.
Have I forgotten something basic that I did last time ?
After finally updating to 1.0.16 I thought I would look at some skins. No surprise that the skin developers are catching up a bit on this new release, so I thought I might just try a different background. (bit over blue the colour)
What a difference the background can make. This is sub's blue skin with an bubble image I 'borrowed' from flickr.com I would love to credit the photographer but I downloaded a few images before deciding on this one.
(Note I also had to set the background_mask to a totally translucent png.)
