There is a setting in config.xml

Code:
<PromptForDeleteAfterPlayback>true</PromptForDeleteAfterPlayback>

that is supposed to cause a prompt after the recording has finished playing that asks if you want to delete the recording.  Since the setting is "true" I would expect the prompt to happen, but it doesn't it just returns to the previous menu.

Is this setting still valid for NextPVR.exe?

I watched a 30 min recording and waited until it finished, then captured logs.

Thanks.

  Astrometa DVB-T2 Stick - Drivers
Posted by: NumberFive - 2021-02-27, 01:01 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Hello,

I have had a couple of these Astrometa DVB-T2 sticks for many years, and they have a Panasonic demod chip in them (2013 version).  They work fantastically.  One is on my main HTPC and produces hours of error free recordings every day.

I recently got another one, looks the same on the outside but it's the 2018 version, it has a Sony demod chip in it ("Sony guts!").  Unfortunately it has issues working in most programmes - it appears as though it is getting a very weak signal, lots of errors in it.

I had thought I'd just got a bad device, but I read online that I should try the bundled TV utility "TVRPlayer" and sure enough, that works and I can receive programmes loud and clear.  The signal strength it reports is consistent for what I would expect on my various multiplexes.

So, there must be some weird non-standard quirk of the driver.  It was cheap, and I had largely written it off until I saw this thread - https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=58540 - Another NextPVR user appears to have this same "sony guts" version of the tuner and it's working okay with NextPVR.

You can see a history of these devices over on LinuxTV - https://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Astrometa_DVB-T2

I did read somewhere that there may be an issue in the driver that it does not by default turn on the pre-amplifier on the board.  That makes sense to me, as the issue does look like weak signal.  I've no idea how to fix though.   Huh

Does anyone else have one of these?  Could you perhaps share with me what version of the Windows drivers you are using? Did anyone else have this issue?

Thank you Smile

  EPG Scraper Errors
Posted by: dawsonjw - 2021-02-27, 03:56 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

Hi,
just installed Kodi 19 over 18.9 and noticed the following 60 odd log messages.

Code:
2021-02-27 12:59:12.819 T:9704    ERROR <general>: PVR::CPVREpg::Update: Failed to update table '' 2021-02-27 12:59:12.820 T:9704    ERROR <general>: PVR::CPVREpg::UpdateFromScraper: No EPG scraper defined for table ''

The EPG seems to work OK but just wondered if anyone knows what they mean and how do I fix it..

Here is the full log

  Recording created from TV Guide
Posted by: dsreyn - 2021-02-26, 10:30 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

I'm using the Docker amd64 version of NextPVR, but I suspect that this is not platform specific...

If I initiate a recording from the TV Guide (specifically - click on a program listing, then choose "Record Once"), it looks like NextPVR processes this internally as a request to record the specific station, time, and duration (but not tied to the program name).  Most of the time this is not a big deal, but I've had a few cases where guide information has changed after I requested the recording, but before the recording happened.  In other words, the program that I intended to record was no longer running in the that time slot - the station aired a different program.  In these cases, NextPVR records the requested station at the specified time and duration anyway.  A "Record Series" request doesn't have this problem - it seems to try to match the program name with the guide.  Anyway, is there some way that "Record Once" requests can keep track of the original program name, and drop the recording if the guide data changes?

Thanks,
Doug

  2nd HDHR BDA device scan
Posted by: VCR58 - 2021-02-26, 05:21 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

My setup has two HDHR devices, each with two tuners. I can scan one tuner of the 1st HDHR device and copy the channels to the  second tuner which is normal.

When I do a channel scan on the second HDHR device on a tuner and then copy the channels to the second tuner it copies the channels from the first HDHR device instead of the device I am scanning.

This only is an issue with the BDA tuners. The HDHR tuners work as expected.

Attached are logs of the scans

Kodi LiveTV timer with NextPVR backend
Posted by: jakelyods58 - 2021-02-25, 05:57 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

I've recently built my first HTPC and, after much trial and error, have managed to get live TV working on Kodi using NextPVR as my backend.
Now when I view my EPG within Kodi I can select a show and choose "add timer" and select yes when it asks if I'd like to record this show. For some reason this does not put that show in my timer list.
Strange thing is I can go into NextPVR, view the TV guide from there, select my show I want to record and it adds it to the timer list in Kodi.
Sure it works but I would like to be able to set timers from within Kodi. Not have to access the backend to do so. It's mainly my wife that wants to record shows, so I would like it to be as intuitive as possible.
Is there something I'm missing? I'm extremely new to all this but I am learning.
I am in Australia using the EP10.0.0.0.1 192.168.1.254
G directly from the digital broadcast.

Can't get NextPVR to install correctly
Posted by: rustyirwin@gmail.com - 2021-02-25, 04:54 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (8)

Hi,
I'm new to NextPVR and this forum.  I have been using windows 7 for a long time using WMC for recording and watching.  Since January 2020, been using EPG123 so to stay with WMC.  I recently bought a new Windows 10 computer and installed a quad Hauppauge card.  Have been struggling to find  an EPG for it.  When I came upon NextPVR I thought at last I had found it.  But, alas, I'm having problems getting it to work.  I stumbled upon a server download first.  Installed it and tried to follow the instructions in the video accompanying it, however when it got to the part where the tvguide was clicked, my guide had channels alright, but program info was weird in that every channel showed the same info. Upon logging into Schedules direct for each channel to fetch the lineup, I get a popup dlg stating "undefined", even though I picked the lineup from the list provided.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

"DVD" option missing from main menu
Posted by: careads - 2021-02-25, 06:00 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

There is no "DVD" menu option in the main NextPVR menu in the Windows client (V5.1.0).  How do I get it to turn on?

Note that I'm using a DVD player that is plugged in to a USB port, and that I didn't have it plugged in when I installed NextPVR.  The DVD works with VLC.

  recordings fail
Posted by: Bstephens - 2021-02-24, 06:56 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (2)

The reviews said that NextPVR was difficult to set up, but worth it. I'll say. It is a wonderful program.

But I may still need to tweak the setup.

Shortly before the time for the recording, I tried to log in, but could not connect to NextPVR. I restarted the service and it is working. However, I'd like it work without me having to restart it.

I am using a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD tuner. I moved the server and the antenna and rescanned to get a better list of channels. I had a bear of a time getting the two devices to scan and merge. One device on the tuner recognized 55 channels. The other saw 80. I don't know what I did, but it eventually merged and mapped and worked. But then it failed on an unattended recording attempt with the message: "[Failed: Channel not found. Deleted?]" It has recorded from the same channel before and after stopping.

Logs attached. Do they indicate anything I need to change to keep it running and finding all the channels?
Bob
