Backup your source! This almost goes without saying - something we're all already doing, right?
The unthinkable has happened and I'm quite devastated. One of my hard drives died today, and most of my ZTools source code has dissolved into nothingness. My backups are either incomplete or nonexistent.
I'm currently running a deep data recovery software, with a fairly powerful tool. (GetDataBack) The first pass of inspection should take 12-18 hours on the 300 G drive. The drive is making a horrendous sound, and from my previous experiences, I would guess I will not be successful.
As I try to find something good to come out of this, I think that I may pass this on, and remind others to backup their source and not assume that a few-months-old drive is 'gonna be ok for now'...
My first attempt at installing GB-PVR. Get the following msg on initial config.
"Your EPG source does not appear to be configured correctly", with a lot more error msg text following it (maybe 15 llines). The Config.exe.log shows the following error every time I try to access Zap2it. My account is okay. I created it tonight and I can go there and log in without any problems. I have it set up just for antenna recepyion for the moment. I use an HDHomerun dual tuner that is working just fine. I can view my channels with the HDHomerun GUI and Videolan.
Anyone have any ideas what I haver to do to fix this?

This is more a question for the community at large, as it is not really GBPVR specific. Kinda. More or less.
Anyway. Backstory. I pick up a lot of subtitled Japanese anime, some of which is in .avi format, some of which .mkv.
.avi files have the subtitles built-in, as it were, and play fine. With (most) .mkv files, however, the video and (foreign language) audio play fine, but no subtitles. While my knowledge of Japanese has soared to at least a dozen words, I still miss some of the subtle nuances. :o
I don't believe this is gbpvr's problem, but, rather, something to do with the media splitters and processors and other thingies that I don't really understand.
The subtitles -do- display when playing the file via ZoomPlayer or Windows Media Player, so it seems to me that gbpvr should be able to play them too (after all, don't they all use the same DirectShow goodies for the actual playback?) but I'm at a loss as to what I'm missing to make it do so.
So, here I am. Can anybody offer some suggestions or insights on what I'm doing wrong? Or am I really asking gbpvr to do something that it just can't do?
Having started off down the Yellow Brick HTPC road a couple of months ago and being the type of person who needs to know the internal workings of any technology with which I am tampering (some say 'inquiring mind', some say 'obsessive/compulsive', while others just shake their heads and say 'sad %@$!@() ' )... anyway while browsing around on things DVB-T I found on Wikipedia this bit on Freeview Playback Receivers AKA PVRs designed to be used with UK DVB-T (I've got one of those BTW... it's called gbpvr, appropriately configured of course)... anyway, the bit I came across was (at 26 June 2007):

All Freeview Playback receivers are required to include the following features:-
It is understood that receivers are required to include the following features, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.
8 Day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) instantly available from start up. There will be no need to wait for the receiver to download EPG from the signal)
Series Link (one timer to record whole series)
Record split programmes as one programme
Offer to record related programme
Record alternative showing if there is a time conflict
Schedule changes updated in standby (e.g. scheduled recording starting early)
Accurate recording (e.g. setting a timer for a program will record the program regardless of when it starts, not what happens to be on between 20:00 - 20:30)
Now...
depending on the accuracy of the quoted article,

and bearing in mind that it is focused on recording and playback of program content (rather than live TV),
...there may be clues as to how the broadcasting industry (certainly in the UK) view the future of EPG delivery (the current Zap2it problem shows the importance of this issue)
Anyway, any opinions? (I think I may have spotted one feature which is unlikely [at this time anyway] to be technically possible as well as one which looks like we've found the holy grail)
If anyone does feel that they want to comment though, please first be clear about the status of the quoted Wikipedia article...

For this device you need to alter the BDA.ini file with the following
[Asus u3000 mini USB ]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS U3000 Mini BDA Digital Tuner (Dev1 Path0)
FILTER_CAPTURE=ASUS U3000 Mini BDA Digital Capture (Dev1 Path0)
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input 0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
Hi! I'm using Zap2It (so sad that they're closing) and yesterday I noticed that my EPG wasn't showing up. Today I tried to reload and I get the error message that is attached.
What's the deal?
I'm running 99.12 on XP. I have a Visiontek Xtasy Theater 550 Pro (or something like that). If you need any more information, please let me know, thanks!
I have searched and could not find anything on this. I just built a new HTPC and installed a fresh copy of XP. It is fully updated with the newest patches and SP2. I then installed the latest version of GB-PVR. A fresh install as well. Everything works ok except that after the PC has been dormant for awhile. GB-PVR will be very slow to open and not run right. Very sluggish and un-responsive. When I back out of it, I get an error message saying that GB-PVR has encountered a problem and needs to close. The only fix I have found so far is to re-start the recording service. Then GB-PVR runs great and all is well until the PC isn't used again for a few hours then the process starts all over. Hibernation is not enabled. I have the PC set to go into suspend after 2 hours. Thanks for the help.
I am thinking of adding FM Radio to my system and I was thinking of using the HVR1300 board. Does anybody know if this board does FM radio and have you got it working in GBPVR ?
Since the BBC have ( in their infinite wisdom :mad: ) stopped podcasting my favourite radio show I thought I'd add Radio channels to my GBPVR system.
I have found some basic BBC Radio listings on Bleb, but does anybody know of a better source that gives more channels, ClassicFM etc.?
Does the EPG over DVB(T) contain radio listings ?
