I've just built a Vista machine for a friend, and I'm trying to set up GB-PVR on it with Hauppauge HVR-1600. I have same HVR on my machine, but with Windows XP. I've installed the Hauppauge software, but when I go into Config in GB-PVR and try to select a video decoder, only system default is listed. I tried installing a couple of the free ones recommended, and neither worked very well.
Now, on MY computer, I have three different ones listed: Intervideo Non CSS Video Decoder, MainConcept MPEG Video Decoder, and GPL MPEG 1/2 Decoder. I guess my question is, anyone have any idea where I got these, and how I might get them onto the other machine? Would they have been installed with something like Sony Vegas? Is Hauppauge 1600 supposed to install any?
I use GBPVR/Hauppauge PVR150 for recording TV, and XBMC for playback.
I'm using 'high qualith mode' for recording.
When viewing 'fast' action, like ice skating, or dancing, I notice a significant lower quality in the recording, compared to the 'original' broadcast. The movements are a bit jerky.
Is this a limitation of the PVR150, the MPeg2 recording, the quality setting, or, am I doing something wrong?
I don't think the xbox is the limitation, because all other media is played without a hitch.

I installed the test version a while ago & now it has decided not to display the episode name & program details. I noticed this a week ago so I uninstalled & reinstalled VA & all was ok for a couple of days but the same problem has returned
Due to irregularities in my EPG programs get grouped separately in the recordings menu when they contain upper-case.
i.e.
house 1 recordings
House 4 recordings
Looks like it has been discussed before from a 'schedule-recordings' perspective and because they all seem to record I wondered if it had been addressed on that side. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...+sensitive
If the recordings side has been fixed - any chance the 'show recordings' might also?
Due to some problems with EPG in Israel, the TV Guide shows some of the series with the chapter number included in the main titles, while others appear fine.
Is it possible to define recording of a season using the search, like searching "House 3" to record the complete third season, even though in the TV Guide the chapters appear as "House 3 Chapter 1" & "House 3 Chapter 2" ?
SOLVED: Updating codecs solved the problem. Get the latest codec packs, even after applying all WinXP updates.
EDIT: I apologize for the double post. When I looked for the earlier post I didn't find it and reposted. After reposting, both posts showed up.
Get no preview on Digital Channel Mapping, although mapping itself seems to work okay. Also, when I attempt to access Live TV I get the error msg:
"Error: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
Anyone else having this problem, or an idea what it might be?
I have been having problems recently with glitching, in both liveTV and Recordings, on an MVP and in-situ on my system.
I have been putting this down to the really heavy rain that we've been having lately, knowing DVB-T's low tollerance for atmospherics. It has been getting steadily worse for a while now, and is now all but unwatchable.
However, I am now beginning to suspect my Harddisk may be the cause of the problems. When I installed a new disk a couple of months ago, it was showing a long spin up time, and a few other minor error counts. I contacted the retailer, and was told this was normal for this make of drive and would settle down as the drive aged.
I ran HDD health today, and was greeted with the following results:
Parameters info for MAXTOR STM3160212A
Date: 26/06/2007 Time: 19:00:16
These don't look good to me, but my previous experience has made me doubt myself in reading these! I am pretty sure this is bad, but just to be sure, can anyone advise whether this might be normal behaviour?
Well, two steps (no, five steps) forward and one step back!
After many, many false starts and wrong turnings I've finally managed to get the Programme Guide set up. Along the way I'd had dozens of 'Index is outside the bounds of the array' messages which I learned from a forum search meant that I hadn't got my channels correctly matched. Now I finally don't get those any more, from which I concluded I was home and dry.
Not a bit of it:confused: If from the TV Guide screen i hit 'watch' I just get a blank screen (most of the time), and if I do get a programme and then hit 'timeshift', gbpvr freezes altogether. I'd be very glad of some further help.
