I've been trying to convert from DVR-MS to MPEG using various methods, but without success. I've tried using "Transcode" option from GBPVR menu, DVRMSToolBox, TSConverter. All three start, but never finish. Only part of the file is converted and never completes. I've tried using ffmpeg, but it comes back with an error. Logs attached. The recording is ATSC. Thanks.
Can anybody (sub?) confirm that when GBPVR starts it does an epg update.
The logs would seem to indicate this. So in the following scenario when I have a DVB EPG update scheduled for 04:00 every morning, followed by a computer programmed reboot every day at 04:30, I am going to get two EPG updates and therefore the scheduled one at 04:00 is not necessary
I've recently tried out comskip and found it highly useful. However, I have a bit of a problem. I've set comskip to run in the parallelprocessing.bat file so that it runs while the recording is occuring.
However, this leads to a problem. Comskip keeps running for a few seconds after the end of the recording. This means that when postprocessing.bat is called, with things (mainly renamerecording) in it, they fail, because the file is still in use.
Is there any way to be able to get postprocessing to pause a minute before doing it, or any other way around this?
I finally got my HDHR setup within GB-PVR (it's a lot easier than with BTV) and can record HDTV. For the time being, I only have a 160GB HD in my HTPC so I was hoping to transcode any HDTV show that I record to Divx to save file space. What would be the best way to do this? I see in the processing tab of Config that dvr-ms and ts can be auto converted to Divx, but I thought I read that it didn't work unless everything was configured properly. Would dvr-ms or ts provide better results after the conversion? I am trying to get ComSkip set up as well and would like that to work even after the conversion. So, to reiterate:
What to I need to convert HDTV to Divx?
What is the best format to record to for the conversion (dvr-ms or ts)?
Will ComSkip still work after the conversion? If not, then how could I make it work?
EDIT: I realize I should mention that I am recording a clear QAM signal from Comcast.
If anyone here is using GBPVR with Verizon's FiOS service, you must be aware that you have to use an IR blaster to change channels on the set-top-box (STB). Well, after lots of pestering and complaining to Verizon from non-DVR users (mainly Tivo users), Verizon and Motorola have apparently re-enabled the serial device control module on their STBs. This is very exciting news! I do not use an IR blaster, but I've heard lots of horror stories about delays between channel changes, incorrect channel dials, etc.. the list goes on and on.
Quote:Verizon/Moto have made a change in their system to re-enable serial port control of their STBs. If you go into the Messages & Settings -> Channel Changing menu you can switch from IR back to serial port control. If the serial port test does not work the first time, do the followingâ¦
Call the Fiber Solutions Customer Support Center at 888-553-1555 and say âTVâ when prompted for the service you calling about.
When asked the nature of your problem say âMy cable box is not working.â
The system will do an automated line test and an initialization of the STB.
After the initialization, power the STB up again and retry the serial port test.
(You may try a simple power cycle, post a reply if it works <-- edit, this doesn't appear to work)
Iâve only tested this with a QIP-2500 but I assume it will work on the higher end QIP-6xxx series.
I'm planning to <gasp> go w/o cable in los angeles area and get an indoor antenna such as the philips mant510. I was at parents' house and tried the 510 on their hdtv and whatever digital channel that worked, worked wonderfully, but whatever channel didn't work...u either got extreme blockiness...or u got nothing at all. Out of about a dozen hdtv channels, probably 4 were good enough to watch.
my old 27" tv only has an ntsc analog tuner. I'm wondering if i have a standalone digital tuner, that it'd make my reception better. any recommendations? or should I get one of the usb hdtv cards and feed to the tv using s-video or mvp?
I'm having trouble with my first install of Video Archive. I set up everything I could find in the plugin settings screen, but am still having no luck.
When I open the videos screen, it just sits there with a dancing hour glass at the top... i've let the machine sit for long periods of time (i.e. overnight), but I never actually get a list of my files... even when I set the program to look at my DVDs directory which only has two movies which were both imported by the plugin, I still get nothing.
What log files and/or settings can I look at to discover what's going on?
Will the VA plugin not work with my previous Video Library folder... it has 280 total files, which are a mix of .dvr_ms, .mpg .avi (and a few .rm .asf and quicktime files) - do I need to remove certain file types?
I was on the main 3.0 version, but since that wasn't working, I've since installed the vatestversion.zip from the server (downloaded 6-8-07)
I have a problem with GBPVR, any softcam tested and newcs.
The problem is that my service provider, Comhem, sends out two different ECMs. One is Conax and the other one is Viaccess and all software defaults to Viacces. Newcs only sets up a Conax card.
This is not a problem in Media Portal or ProgDVB where I can set the ECM manually in the channel config.
Does anybody know of a way around this, I would really like to take GBPVR for a spin?
Please excuse any confusion created by n00b missuse of terminology.
I've stuck with the basic cable service (USA) for ages, but friends in other parts of the country are starting to get notices from comcast that the analog cable service they are using is going to be going away.
I haven't received anything in the mail about my current mode of service having an end-date yet but...
So, I'm using the 350 happily (never a problem with it really that wasn't user-error).
Should I get a digital tuner now, probably one of the Haupauge models? Are there going to be more DRM/content restrictions on the chipsets in future tuners, or those already in place? I kind of lost track of what has happening with all that. I'll just be doing the basic service, no fancy stuff- so I should be able to avoid an external box, I believe.
I'm in NZ using DVB EPG and I recently noticed that this week its consistently missing entries for 3 hrs from 6am-9am every weekday for TV2. Occassionally this happens also for TV3 but I haven't figured out a regular pattern yet.
I ran Empty EPG and reloaded but the problem is still there.
Is this a problem the Freeview EPG or is there something wrong with my GBPVR database? I'm on 99.12.
