AVerMedia M780 vs Hauppage 1600 Review
Posted by: -Oz- - 2007-05-17, 05:39 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

MissingRemote has posted a pretty nice review comparing the AVerMedia M780 to the Hauppage 1600.

I think both work with GBPVR our of the box (they should); one is PCI (1600) and the other PCI-E (M780).

Missing Remote Review

Probably good reading for anyone interested in an analog and digital tuner. No unencrypted QAM is available on either of these.

Vertical wave "interferende" lines on Hauppage PVR500 ??
Posted by: HomerDK - 2007-05-17, 04:09 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (4)

Got everything to work, except that I have these wave vertical lines that come and goes, like some interference.
Those lines are also when I choose the external source from composite input, so it cannot be the signal from antenna.

Someone suggested to try some other drivers, but i can only find the new drivers from may 2. Someone know a link for some other drivers?

Or could it be some interference from inside the pc?

Use PVR350 for MPEG and software for Xvid
Posted by: HermanJ - 2007-05-17, 03:01 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I'm not sure if I should ask this, because I know the PVR350 is not supported any more. And Sub is getting a bit, well, not amused, hearing about the PVR350.
Nevertheless:
I do like my tv-out of my PVR350 card. I haven't found any software decoder that has the same quality (tried Nvida, Dscaler, Intervideo).
But I also like to watch Xvid movies using GBPVR. However, when selecting the PVR350 as a decoder, GBPVR is trying to use the PVR350 as a decoder for Xvid movies also. And as we all know, that doesn't work.
I once made a script that does switch the config.xml, but this is not really a nice solution (see: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...tch+pvr350 )

So I would like GBPVR to know that, when selecting the PVR350 as a decoder, it will only be used with MPEG files, all other types should be processed by a software decoder and be send to the videocard TV-out.

Is this possible or just annoying?

  Extend functionality of "Video Player"
Posted by: HydroChronic - 2007-05-17, 01:51 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (7)

Hey Guys,

I want to add some additional features to the "Video Player", by which I mean the interface when GB-PVR is playing a recording. The one with the progress bar and stuff. Is there a way to add new functionality to this interface, such as new key events?

I am hoping that there is a provided interface class which I can use, much the same way IMenuTask is used to add the Plugin to GBPVR.

Thanks.

  Nova-T-500 DVB-T with win2000
Posted by: mimbox - 2007-05-17, 10:02 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hi there all.
Struggling with this, and could use some advise/help.
Have a Nova-T-500 DVB-T model 99101 LF in a win2000 sp4 sytem.
I cannot get config to see the board. It has installed itself under windows, as a Hauppauge nova t 500 dual tuner in the device manager, but the device type check utility cannot see it. I have looked at the posts, and have tried the edited bda file, but no joy. I suspect that it may be to do with win2000, but I don't have xp to try. Any advise appreciated.

SDTV & Live Preview No Interlacing - Desync issue
Posted by: nullfork - 2007-05-17, 09:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi!

Since I'm running my GBPVR via a Matrox G550 w/ DVD MAX to an SDTV I figure there's no need to de-interlace during the live-tv decoding.

Indeed, if I set Deinterlacing to None in the Miscellaneous tab I get a much cleaner and crisper picture (as you'd expect).

The only problem is after a while the audio and video desync. I can't stand this, so I've switched back to using the Hauppauge Intervideo NonCSS codec in Non-Interlace mode for now (BOBWEAVE=2), which is nearly as good but has lag.

Anyone suggest any solutions?

Cheers! Smile

  comskip files not used
Posted by: cakes - 2007-05-17, 08:52 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi

I've noticed that gbpvr is not using the comskip files any more. I have comskip running during the recording, and comskip.txt files are created normally. I can use them with comskip debug. But in gbpvr, the green bar indicating commercials, length and current position, shows there are no commercials detected.

I am not using the autoskip feature. Also, I am using an older version of comskip (0.79.51), but I would find it strange that this would be of any impact.

Any ideas?
