I've recently graduated and moved back home, so naturally I had to log into zap2it and make a new channel line up for my new location.. however after i emptied my line up and added a new one, then updated the epg... all of my channels are completely screwed up.
any idea how i can just wipe this info clean and start new?
I have a PVR-150 and HVR-1600 in a system working off analog cable. I have good smooth video with no stuttering. However the really annoying problem I have is that the noise in the analog video is really accentuated in the output image. It's the snow affect exccept it's in color. Very blocky and nasty on screen. What settings on the PVR-150/HVR-1600 affect how that noise in the image on screen?
I've setup GBPVR in my PC to utilise a Nova T 500 which I bought after my TV bit the dust.
Now the PC spec is
XP Pro SP2
PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 1.833GHz
RAM: Samsung 512 Pc2700 DDR333 184pinn Original Module x2
GRAPHICS: MEDIAMAX 256MB DDR ATI Radeon 9600 PRO TV-Out DVI-I Retail Box
HDD's: 20GB IDE Master with OS, 120GB IDE Slave for recordings and media only, 40GB IDE for music only but currently awaiting IDE to SATA Interface to hitch it up.
So not bad spec back in 2004 when I built it but not great by todays standards, I plan to build a proper HTPC but am awaiting the funds to do so.
Anyway enough waffling, my GBPVR is setup ok or so I thought, I can watch TV, view the TV Guide, Search the Guide, use my remote etc etc, I planned two recordings from standby on my first night and I got the following
Two recordings which crash GBPVR, refuse to play in Media Player 11, Media Player Classic and Nero Show Time.
So I had another fiddle with the settings, dunno which I changed then I ended up with this
Two recordings which one plays ok through GBPVR and the mentioned viewers, one does the same crashing thing I got earlier.
Now tonight I recorded a programme whilst web browsing, once it was done I get the same thing again crashing the GBPVR and any viewers.
What's going wrong?
If my recordings worked out I would be very happy, I appreciate that maybe my PC can't handle it, Live TV and the Guide take some while to start up, i can also get the Timeshift Mode to work which is good, so it's only the recording issue that is bothering me.
Is it because I'm recording to the slave HDD?
Any assistance is useful, I have searched a little but not found anything plus I've looked through wiki.
Hi. I finally got transcoding to xvid working quite smoothly, but the only remaining problem is that it transcodes to PAL instead of NTSC, and I'm not sure what parameter I need to change in the config.xml file to do NTSC. Anyone know?
Offload your shows to another drive! Even another machine...
Here's a tiny little archiver function i made to move your videos to another location and automatically adjust the database to reflect the new location..
NEW: it also creates the subdir for recordings for better organization..
It consists of just a batch file and sqlite3.exe...
First, you need to download the zip and extract the reloc.bat to your gbpvr\Third Party\ directory, and sqlite3.exe to gbpvr\ if you don't already have one there..
Then, add a profile to custom ffmpeg conversions section in config.xml with your destination dir like:
Note: """ = double quotes ["] and ">" = greater than [>] when used inside strings in config.xml
Replace "Archive to USB" with whatever you wish to call the profile. [Will appear as profile name in video library]
Replace "\\home\k\mpg\archive\" with your destination dir. [Either network path or local, must end with \]
Create a profile for each destination you wish to use, you can even make one to restore them to recordings dir as well..
I set up 2 drives, and a restore to original location profiles for myself..
[to setup a restore profile, just set regular recordings dir as destination]
To Use:
Go into Video Library and select file to archive, hit left arrow to get to menu on left, select "Transcode" and move down to select your archive profile and hit "start" and either wait,or hit "Close" and it will continue in background.
If you hit "Close", it will let you do other things in GBPVR while it runs, if you hit Stop, it will stop the process completely...
It will copy the file to new location, [it takes a while] then adjust the database to new location, then delete old file..
When you go back into Recordings screen, the file will still play and show all info as if nothing happened..[but notice all the new free space!]
**Just to be safe, turn off the 'AutoRemoveMissingRecordings' in config first..**
works fine for me without it because it copies, adjusts database, then deletes..but setting usefull
for those with removable USB drives..
Works with renamed files, and across network drives [\\server\drive\]
******UPDATE:
Now copies and deletes all files with same first name and extension .txt, .srt, .edl
Also removes old souce dir if no movies inside.. ******Fixed:
oops, forgot a closing ")" at end of file after changes...fixed..
May 6 '08 Removed attrib.exe checks as some people don't have this installed and wasn't really needed anyways..
Also changed to not delete if there's a folder.* in the dir to save folder.jpgs and .pngs..
Changed Profiles! now needs a \ at end of dest. path Adjust your profiles in config.xml accordingly if upgrading
Added cmd-line help
Sept 15 08: added .ts to list of movies..
set default to not delete source dir [see end of file for 'set deldir=no' set to yes and it will cleanup empty source dirs]
i usually have no need for comclean as i watch the show and delete it. however i want to archive a few and remove the commercials. can i set comclean to clean an individual show? say one that was recorded several weeks ago. is this possible through the command line?
I've gotten a bit behind on my recording watching... looked today to watch something and noticed that a portion of my recordings do not have a play option; only delete and close options.
I tried to play the recording in wmp and it plays fine. I was running 0.99.5 when i noticed the problem. just upgraded to 0.99.12 but still the same issue.
I have a Nova-T 500 and am having problems tuning it in to all the Muxes in the UK. The first tuner works great, in fact better than my single tuner Nova-T's. But the second tuner cannot seem to find the 5th and 6th muxes. Has anyone else had a problem like this?
If i can sort this out then i will definitely get another one, especially since they're only £46.94 at savastore.com at the moment, and with the google checkout deal even cheaper.
It is typical to have GB-PVR take more time loading with the overlay renderer than the others? My understanding was that overlay requires less resources, but is that because of the startup hit?
I have a 3GHz pentium 4 with a gig of RAM, ATI AIW x800 video card and an Hauppauge HVR-1600.
I don't have a problem with the other renderers (7 or 9) but I'm surprised at how long it takes with overlay.
