can I make my computer a HD upscaler?
Posted by: callmecheez - 2007-04-04, 02:53 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

If I've connected my computer to an LCD panel @ 1360x768 is it possible to output my freeview (via GB-PVR), but upscaled at all?

(kinda how dvd players can upscale dvd's. . .)

Hi there. I have just bought one of the new dual tuner Hauppauge WinTV Nova TD's. The software from Hauppauge is a joke! So I was hunting around for somehting better and found gbpvr. Looks great!
Has anyone got the Nova TD running with it yet or is it unsupported at the moment?
Thanks!

  Filename of Recordings...
Posted by: Cahill84 - 2007-04-04, 06:52 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Is it possible to change the manner in which it saves the filename of the video file recordings. More specifically to use the information from Zap2it. For instance, I recognize that it can see it's a certain show and so it sorts it accordingly. But, those shows typically have titles. So rather than being titled something like House_20070316_19002000.ts it would be titled "Fetal Position.ts" which was the name of that episode. It would already be in the House directory so it would be very easy to identify what show it was. The time and date aren't necessary per se in that it can be sorted by date and time of creation. Just a thought.

  Transcode a DVD
Posted by: Cahill84 - 2007-04-04, 06:47 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

I currently use a dvd ripper program to copy a dvd from the disk to my hd. Then I use the divx software to rip it into a format I can put on my phone. I can understand how this would not be something that should be included in Gb-pvr direclty, but is there a work around where I wouldn't have to run both visual programs. IE a batch file or plugin, or something of that sort? Which would remove the protections and then transcode to divx?

  Reboot after so many recordings...
Posted by: Cahill84 - 2007-04-04, 06:43 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (49)

I was trying to be thorough and I haven't seen anyone else state this so here we go. I need to reboot my system for optimal performance after typically 15 recordings. Although I could set up under scheduled events to reboot after so many days, it would be much more efficient for so many recordings. For instance, today I recorded 12 shows vs. tomorrow I will only record one.

  Divx Acceleration...
Posted by: Cahill84 - 2007-04-04, 05:35 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I could find a thread on this... sorry Sub if it has already been disucssed. Today I had a series of 10 shows to record. I didn't think about taking the transcode ASAP off beforehand. Anyway... The oddest thing about it was that I ended up with all of the shows working moderately well until the end in which case it rapidly speeds up. As in more than double time. You can't even understand what they are saying. I've already change the post processing time, but still it seems unusual that they would randomly start speeding up towards the end and it's not at a regular point for any of them. The easiest way for me to see which files were affected was to look at their total length they should obviously be close to an hour long. What I don't understand was that if it was cpu usage that was the problem why didn't the first one go well, but then not the rest or the last one for that matter shoudl have the worst problems. Here are the total times for them. 52:48, 54:02, 56:02, 56:27, 50:37, 52:29, 53:05, 51:32, 55:00, 55:41, 43:15. That's the order that they were recorded in. Unfortunately, I haven't had any problems like this so I had GB-PVR set to delete the original....oops. To top things off, I had a system crash so I had to restart my computer so the Gb-Pvr logs would have been erased too. Fun.. I know. Thoughts? Has anyone else experienced this?

  Emulation mode testing Round III

I have uploaded a new alpha dongle which I think has changed and I believe improved enough from Round II that I'd like those of you that have tried mvpmc and experienced problems to give it another look.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

  Twinhan 102G / No channels
Posted by: aspirax - 2007-04-04, 03:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

All,

Let me apologize up front for the lengthy post. But, I am need of some help/understanding. Firstly, let me introduce myself as a satellite n00b.

After setting up DVB/EPG broadcast, I ran a "scan".

I proceed to do a channel scan, and nothing is found. Surprisingly, it says signal: 0, even though progDVB, and TwinhanDTV show me 68% (not usong BDA drivers)

Anyone have any advice for me?

Thanks a lot.
