Show Titles in addition to series titles?
Posted by: JimF - 2007-03-01, 04:39 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Using an ATI 550 Pro analog TV tuner, when I record a cable channel with BeyondTV, I get the name of the series as well as the show. For example, "Francesco's Italy Top to Toe-(The Romantic North)". But when I record with GB-PVR, I get only a folder entitled "Francesco's Italy Top to Toe", with a file of the same name inside, but I don't get the title for the specific show.

Is it possible to get the full title for each recording? I don't see a configuration option for it. It would be nice to have the folders with the series title that GB-PVR provides, but with each show inside the folder labeled with its own title.

I am using Zap2it as my EPG source for GB-PVR here in the U.S. Would a different one give me a different result?

0.99.12 u/g - PC Standby on idle stopped working
Posted by: b00sfuk - 2007-03-01, 04:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I've been testing my upgrade to 0.99.12 on my HTPC and have found the PC will no longer automatically go into standby. The PC power management is setup to go into S3 standby after 5 minutes inactivity and this worked fine with 0.99.05 prior to the upgrade. All I have done is install the new version (over 0.99.05) and made no other changes. Also if I manually "Stop recording service" with 0.99.12 then it will drop into standby fine again while the recording service is not running. I've captured debug logs but there are no entries at all for the time the PC is sitting idle.
I've tried this a number of times with my backed up image of 0.99.05 and it is repeatable each time. I'm running no additional plugins.

Anybody else seen this or got any ideas? Thanks.

  deleting videos in GBPVR
Posted by: senor_fuego - 2007-03-01, 03:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I hope it is not a stupid question...

When I record a show on GBPVR, it gives the channel name and some numbers. When I go to my directory where my recordings are stored on my hard drive, I change name the to whatever I like. Now when I browse thru my recording in GBPVR, are those files taking up space on my hard drive or is it just a reference to what I recorded? I see the former file names but do not want to delete if they have ties to my videos.

Thanks.

  2-pass XVID transcoding
Posted by: top_cat - 2007-03-01, 03:33 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm trying to increase the quality of the xvid transcodes by using a 2-pass method.

have anyone else done this? Also does this code look like it will work

Code:
ffmpeg -i {SOURCE_FILE} -deinterlace -vcodec mpeg4 -g 240 -qscale 2 -croptop 0 -cropbottom 0 -aspect 16:9 -s 640x360 -passlogfile {LOG_FILE} -pass 1 -mbd 2 -vtag xvid -y -f avi NUL ffmpeg -i {SOURCE_FILE} -deinterlace -vcodec mpeg4 -g 240 -b 1200k -croptop 0 -cropbottom 0 -aspect 16:9 -s 640x360 -passlogfile {LOG_FILE} -pass 2 -acodec mp3 -ab 128 -ac 2 -mbd 2 -vtag xvid -qmin 2 -async 1 -y -f avi {DEST_FILE}

Will using {LOG_FILE} work? or so I need to do something else?

Thanks,

Hi,

Does anyone whether there is any way of picking up freeview channels with my Hauppage PVR-USB2. As far as i'm aware, there is no freeview decoder of any kind built into the device, but wasn't sure whether there was any other way of picking up freeview channels??

thanks in advance

DirectShow messed up - how do I fix it?
Posted by: wtg - 2007-03-01, 01:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Somehow my DirectShow got screwed up, and I can't figure out anyway to fix it short of a Windows re-install, which I of course want to avoid. I'm looking for suggestions.

Here's my situation:

Playback suddenly went from super-smooth to severe stuttering every 2-3 seconds when playing HD content, and no aspect-ratio controls and 4x3 SD content stretched to fill my 16x10 screen.

When I looked at my Video Decoder properties in Config, with my configured NVidia Decoder, the Video Format and Decoder Format boxes are strangely blank. Normally the Decoder Format shows the DirectX video acceleration mode that will be used. I've attached a screenshot below.

While the NVidia Decoder is the one that shows these blank spots, playback severely stutters regardless of the decoder I chose. One of the decoders won't even open it's Video Properties.

When I try to open a video file in GraphEdt, I get an error: Some of the streams in the this movie are in an unsupported format. Then the graph that it shows me doesn't connect the Video pin from the MPEG2 Demuxer to anything. Screenshots attached, showing a .ts file, but I get the same result with an MPG.

Here's what I've tried to fix it. Inspecting the system, everything else appears to be ok from what I can tell. Dxdiag says everything's working fine with DirectX. No errors anywhere except for a niggling unknown device in Device Manager. I can't figure out what it is, as all the system hardware seems to be accounted for. Maybe it's been there all along.

The first thing I tried was reinstalling the NVidia Pure Video decoders. Went fine but no change. Next, I reinstalled all my video card drivers - again fine, but no dice. Third, I downloaded dxsetup from Microsoft's site and ran it, installed fine, but still it's screwed up.

Oh, I did fine one strange thing going on in my Event Log. The first time the error appears is within a minute or two of installing 99.12. I honestly don't know if gb-pvr's installation has anything to do with these problems, but it does seem suspicious. Unfortunately the first error doesn't give me enough info to have a clue what to do, and I wonder if it's related to the unknown device error I have. The Windows Media Network Sharing Service it complains about I've since disabled - I didn't want it anyway. Again, I've attached some screenshots. If these are just a red herring, I apologize. I'm just trying to be thorough in case someone recognizes something.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I could uninstall GB-PVR and re-install the older version, but I don't see how that's gonna fix the anything. I really want to avoid a complete wipe and re-install of the OS, but I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?

  (Mostly) clean install of 99.5
Posted by: rscheller - 2007-03-01, 12:11 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I'd like to do a (mostly) clean install of 99.5 but I don't want to have to go through the processes of reconfiguring and setting up my tuner cards, zap2it subscription info, EPG update, recordings schedule and recordings library data, photo/music/video directory names etc.

How can I do that?

Is it a simple matter of shutting down all GBPVR exe's then renaming the current GBPVR install directory to something like 'GBPVR_old' and then creating a new directory called 'GBPVR' and copying my current config.xml and gbpvr.mdb files into that directory, then installing GBPVR 99.5 into the GBPVR directory that I just created? Do I need to copy more files than just those two?

Thanks for a great product sub and all the users here are great too.

Windows volume level changing each time I start/stop ????
Posted by: mixedup - 2007-03-01, 09:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

Just wondering if someone has some ideas/thoughts on the following.

For some reason now every time I start/stop a video in GB-PVR the windows volume level modifies itself to a low level (XP), and I have to manually increase it. It is in the "Master Volume" window and the "Wave" Volume.

I tried keeping dialog up and "always on top" however the volume still drops (although it isn't reflected by the slider dropping). To correct it I just have to move the slider for the "Wave" volume and it comes back.

I'm using "Default Wave Output" which is "HD Realtek Audio Ouput".

Thanks
Greg
