System:
Dell E521 w/ Nvidia 6150 chipset and VGA out to Analog 19'' lcd monitor
AMD 3800+ Dual Core
MSI Theater Pro 550
Vista Home Basic OS
MVP attached to 20'' SDTV w/composit cables
On the MVP the quality is fairly good. I have read about all of the dark color issues and have set up my TV settings to compansate as much as possible for now.
On the computer monitor the picture is grainy and blury. I have used the decoders from GPL and Nvidia as well as the system defualt. All seem to produce the same picture quality on the computer.
The quality is the same in PowerCinima that came with the tuner.
The actual onboard video is listed as Nvidia GeForce 6150LE. Does the "LE" portion cause the problem? I know a regular 6150 chipset should be more than enough to do SDTV output.
Or is it the fact that the moitor is an analog LCD?
Resolution set to 1280 x 1024. 32 bit color
Any Ideas?
I don't plan on using this PC to actually hook directly to a TV, but it would be nice if the picture on the monitor was crisp when I watch it.
I hope there's a config item in an XML file that I'm missing, there seems to be ways to fix a lot of things I ask about. Here goes ...
When watching Live TV, the data isn't buffered. This only occurs when in Timeshift Mode. Would be nice for Live TV to always be in Timeshift Mode so that you can rewind to view previous data. Example is I'm watching Live TV and my buddy comes over. There was a commercial 5 minutes ago that I want to show him. Other DVRs allow me to hit Rewind, and I can show the clip.
Another example, and another suggestion for buffering, is that GB-PVR is sitting at the main menu. I get home, hit Guide, and see that 15 minutes ago there was a show that I'd like to view. Is it possible to buffer data from tuners even when they're not active? If not every tuner in the system, then at least the last used one?
I've set up GB-PVR (it's excellent!) on 2 computers; 1 holds a number of DVD's which I've ripped to the hard drive. I mapped a drive on computer 2 to the folder containing the DVD files on computer 1, and set this as the video directory. When I try and play a DVD across the network on computer 2 I get the sound but no picture, and I'm left (on computer 2) with the video menu screen and the filename of the DVD I'm trying to play.
Any ideas why this is, and what I need to do to play DVD's from gard drive across the network?
Hi anyone out there got their FM radio and TV working for this HVR 1300? I have tried to setup the capture source with selection of choosing HVR1300/HVR4000 all under device #1 or #2. For some reason only the live TV work but not the FM radio.
I used the scan on the FM radio it found no channel. However if I launched the Winradio that comes with Hauppauge and the scan works for Gbpvr. Appreciate someone out there who could share their solution with me. Thanks.
Hey, I tried searching the forums and the wiki, and experimenting around, but I cannot seem to to get the client set up on another machine. I have set it up 'streaming', with the paramaters of pvr for the server (as that is the server's name), and \\pvr\gbpvr as the database share (and \\pvr\gbpvr is shared from the server, and points straight to the dir with the gbpvr.db3).
When I load gb on the client, it shows up, and the 'recording soon/recording next' screen appears, cycling through recording and pending shows. However when I click 'TV Guide', the machine's hard drive goes nuts, and GB freezes to the point where I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and end gb. I tried waiting even hours (in case the guide was just slow to load), with no luck.
When I choose 'Live TV', I get the error: 'Failed to communicate with the Recording Service.'
I'm guessing I've set something up wrong... Can anyone assist me? And is there an official step-by-step guide to setting up the client?
Thanks
Brodie
EDIT: BTW both machines are using the newly released version as of yesterday.
Hey I don't know if anyone else has experienced this problem, but as I go higher into the channels (say past 57) the channels start getting boxy and tiled. As you go higher and higher the symptoms get worse. This kinda sucks cause a lot of the shows I watch are on channel 72.
ZapTools has now been updated. You can download it here or from the wiki.
The wiki contains instructions for using ZapTools. The Enhanced Web Admin (EWA) for GBPVR will take advantage of the extended data offered in ZapTools for those users that use Zap2It for their EPG Source.
This is a minor update.
fla (Thanks!) has made an update that removes the requirement of the zapinterface library to have the zapimport config file which was introduced when GBPVR began the move from Access to SQLite.
