I've tried to install GBPVR (99.5 and 99.12) on a clean Windows XP Professional SP1, .NET Framework 2.0 and Windows Media Player 10 (nothing else!).
Directly after the installation, the config program is started and crashes immediately (FileNotFoundException).
The recording service and gbpvr itself can't be started either (FileNotFoundException). I've uninstalled and reinstalled GBPVR several times but without any effect. And I copied empty.db3 over gbpvr.db3 without any effect.
I've installed and played a little with GBPVR on two other PCs before but I never experienced such a behaviour.
I recently got an ATSC HDTV Card, ( VBOX Cat's Eye 150 ), and it is working Great with the new GB-PVR 99.12. I have two problems:
1).. BDA Mux Checker comes back with nothing, and it keeps recording in DVR-MS format. I can't play the DVR-MS files back in anything other then GB-PVR for some reason. Windows Media Player 11 Crashes when I try to open any *.dvr-ms files recorded by GB-PVR. I would like to record to regular old *.MPG if at all possible.
2).. I have large grey boarders on the left and right of the screen. I have tried 16:9 and 4:3, but even the recordings playback that way.
I'm lost and need help. How do I get full screen to look normal, and how do I record to *.mpg
Hey, I have noticed that the EPG only loads for 2 days on ExpressVU. I'm guessing this is because it's loading from the transponder that only has 2 days of EPG information.
According to lyngsat.com, this is the transponder that has the 7 day EPG (I think)
I have been a passive user of the forums for quite a while now, and since I haven't seen that many performance related threads I thought I might post information about my own system for those interested. When I build my system I wasn't really able to find much information on how much horsepower to throw into a bigger system, so I hope this post can be of help to someone out there.
When I run 4 simultanous recordings, each with comskip running on the fly, and have 3 seperate files streaming to the MVP's my server utilizes ~30% cpu time and consumes just under 900 MB of RAM.
Even when browsing the OSD on all 3 MVP's at once, the response time is pretty much unaffected. I am truly impressed by this piece of software. Excellent job sub!
Don't you hate the "it just broke on me and i didn't do anything"?
All of a sudden, videos running through GBPVR don't show yellow... (I'm pretty sure it's the yellow that's not showing)... The videos show just fine under media player... what did I do?
I am a MythTV convert. Linux gave me way to much trouble. A feature I miss is 'erase and allow to rerecord" This was an option on every recording, on the options screens along with 'play' 'delete' etc.
I know we can tick the option about duplicates in the config window, but that is a global setting. what if just one recording messes up and you want to get it again?
- changes to the way RGB -> YUV colour space conversion works on the MVP. Should improve colour rendition, and fix a problem reported by one user on an LCD screen.
I've been working with "jafa" supporting the HDHR hardware on the HDHR forums and it seems that there might be a potential issue the GB-PVR TS-Mux DS filter inserting a bad PAT at the start of the capture. Jafa states this isn't originating from the device and most likey a DS filter.
The thread following thread on the HDHR forums has the information: http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtop...ght=#16603 * Please ignore the first portion of the linked thread as the first issue was a HDHR filtering issue resolved by an update to the firmware code.
I have sample captures linked in that thread if you wish to examine them. I wouldn't consider this a major issue as I'm able to play these captures back but one of these recording had a very bad timeline that caused some issues for playback. The timeline might or not be related to the bad PAT packet that jafa noticed.
im really new to this and i have a question, to be able to use the tv guide feature and all that do you need digital cable to start out with, because i just have basic cable that goes from my wall to my tv, no box, does it get the channel listings from the net?
I usually upgrade an in-place install when comes a new version of GB-PVR.
Normally, there is no issue. However, what does happen through the versions, is that they get "dirty":
- old skins are left in the "Skin" folder (not so bad)
- old sub-folders are left in the "Blue" skin folder (worse)
- old sections of obsolete/unsued plugins are left under the "<PluginSettings>"
- old/obsolete files are left in the main "gbpvr" folder
However, if I did a clean install of GB-PVR, I loose the basic settings that i did. It's not a huge task, but setting the tuners, EPG, all the Decoders/Filters, now also Favorites, and all the other little things we configure via the config-app (or better, via the "Settings" screen) are lost.
Would be nice to have a "export-settings" utility ("GB-PVR Migration Helper"?).
It would export only settings done through the built-in out-of-the-box options of the product into a file. An API can be added, to allow the plugins to export their own things, but to separate files.
Then, on a new install, one could import those settings, and this way get ris of all the rubbish that was accumulated.
Another option:
To have a button in the config-app that shows you a screen with all the sub-entries under <PluginSettings>, and you can choose which ones to remove.
