Every time I select a schedule in Reoccuring then Delete, I get an error box that says "Error: An OLE DB Provider was not specified in the ConnectionString. An example would be,'Provider=SQLOLEDB;'.
I switched to "I-xmltv … the TvGuide Supercharger" for my EPG. I don't know if that's related ... anyone else using XRecord and TVGuide Supercharger?
I just did a search for "Friday Night Lights" which got a hit on ITV4 for tonight. (This is via the GBPVR interface, not the web interface).
So, i clicked the show, then told it to record all shows. But when i looked in pending recordings it didn't appear. As it turns out i don't actually have any tuners set up to record ITV4! I think it was down to a crap signal quality on that channel. Anyway, this sounds like a bug to me.
Also, while i'm here, I get odd things happening on some freeview recordings. The forward/back skip doesn't work reliably. Sometimes when i skip back, it actually skips forwards. Another thing is that i sometimes miss a few seconds of the show. I haven't tried viewing the bogus recordings in VLC or something PC based, rather than on the MVPs.
Could any of this "wierdness" be fixed by using something like retime?
Ah, I don't want to gum up the works at the same time as a new release, but...
I just suffered a Nova-t-500 problem where it didn't wake from standby and saw the Install New Hardware Wizard on screen.
This was lucky as there was no indication that anything went wrong. I would normally have expected a 'failed' next to the entry somewhere, but there was no sign at all of the program in 'ready', 'new' or 'pending'. No sign of even a 0 length mpg file.
So - a hardware problem - but I would have liked an indication of the failed recording.
Hi, just bought a tuner last week, I got this program working with the card and it is amazing. I would like to use a remote control with it. It came with a really good remote control, and it works with the program they provided but not with GB PVR. Am I safe to assume that GB PVR doesn't support it, it's a Phillips SAA7130 TV Card.
Now, if my remote doesn't work with it, how do I buy a remote for this program. What kind, and does it come with some sort of reciver, and are these remotes standards remotes that can be used across the system?
The WAF is in negative numbers at this point. Of course GB-PVR recorded the Oscars on Sunday just like I told it to. Except that it took me at my word and recorded the program slot that the EPG had downloaded from Zap2it, not taking into account the "standard" 2 hour overrun. So we missed the last two hours.
Would anybody who recorded it be prepared to let me have copy? Save my marriage? Prove to SWMBO that GB-PVR really is better than Tivo? Please?
I think I'll write an EPG post-processor that will add 2 hours to the duration of any show with the string "Oscars" in its name.
I have worked for a few weeks on building my PVR, trying different software before settling on GbPVR. I really like the product but have had some problems.
First, the preliminaries:
P4-2.0GHz
512MB RAM
40GB ATA-133 HD
DVD-ROM Drive
Intel 82845 Integrated Video
Hauppaggue PVR-350
I'm using version v0.99.5
I've tried a number of MPEG encoders including:
bitControl
DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder
InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
Cyberlink (by installing Cyberlink PowerDVD 5)
When I set the hardware decoder to the PVR350, everything worked via the TV-Out on the 350. The biggest problem I experienced is changing channels would take 4-5 seconds on average.
After reading through the forums, I changed to the software decoder, and channel changing greatly improved. The problem I now have is each time I start up, I cannot use VMR. I get the following message: "The system does not appear to support VMR9. Please try a different renderer."
If I choose Overlay Manager, GbPVR starts up, but I obviously have no on-screen items, which is part of the reason I chose GbPVR.
How can I fix this? One thought was video card, but I didn't want to spend the money before knowing. Thanks!
YouTube files are still a little screwy on my setup. They usually play with some stuttering after they download. If I go to the new Youtube dir and try to play the mpeg with gbpvr directly it locks up almost immediately.
If I exit out of gbpvr and play with vlc it plays fine. If I play with WMP it locks up like in GBPVR.
I'm on 2k so I have wmp9 which is probably less robust than the latest on xp. Probably not as bloated though!
I tried to transcode to a WMV and that seemed to complete but the file locks up as well on the player after a few seconds.
I'll see if I can figure out what's up with the original mpg.
Hoping someone has a solution - I have recently upgraded to v99.5 and just tonight to 99.12 but my live tv playback has become flaky in these new versions. In the past I had been using v95.x and never had a problem.
When I start live tv now (or press "watch" in tv guide) the screen starts up black. If I move the mouse over the window, the playback will start after showing the OSD for a couple of seconds. Playback is fairly smooth after that unless I click on the window or start doing something else on the machine. The hauppage WinTV app works perfectly so I'm pretty sure that the problem exists in gbpvr. Recording and other functions seem to work fine in gbpvr as well. I'm using basic settings like pass-through, no ffdshow, overlay, etc (no other settings work).
I've been reading about GBPVR for a while. I've read a lot, but I'm still not clear about video capture cards.
The scenario is I have analog cable channels, "digital" cable channels and OTA HDTV channels. I say "digital" cable because thats what Comcast, my cable company, calls them.
I want to be able to record all three types of channels. I understand how to work with analog cable channels, you just get a capture card that can take a coax input.
The "digital" cable channels require a cable box, so I'm looking at a channel changing solution. I get that part. I need a card with a composite input, and I put the cable box video out into it. Then I'll have an IR blaster/remote to change the cable box channel.
I'll probably need an HDTV card with an external antenna for OTA HDTV.
What I don't understand is how to make the combination work. Do I use three cards? A Dual Tuner card plus an HDTV card?
I don't fully understand recording multiple shows simultaneously. How does GB PVR figure our which encoder to use? For example, if its scheduled to problem two shows at the same time, and they are both on analog channels, is it smart enough to get one show off the analog tuned, and the other off the cable box?
When watching live TV, how do you switch between the different tunes?
