Finally took delivery of a shiny new MVP today, but I'm having some serious trouble getting video or music to work.
I initially installed the Hauppauge software so I could validate that the network and box and everything were all working and compatible, and that my videos would play, then I did a complete uninstall of the Hauppauge software.
So now my MVP is connecting to GBPVR, I can browse the menus, look at photos etc, but when I try to play a video (an xvid avi, which plays perfectly on the PC install of GBPVR), I just get a blank screen. When I try to play MP3s, nothing much at all seems to happen.
I've upgraded to the latest version and reverted back to the default skin to eliminate as many issues as possible, but to no avail.
I've atached the logs, but I can't see any errors in there. It seems to begin playback OK, but (and I don't know if this is just the way the logging works) I don't see it saying it's sending any frames. Also, the framerate = 0 seems curious to me.
I've scoured the forum all day looking for a solution, and have tried various things, but had 0 luck Any ideas?!
I just got done building a new system and I happen to have an NVIDIA card so I'm thinking of gettting the purevideo decoders to go with it. My motherboard has 8 channel HD Audio already on it so I would like to just use the on board audio or ateast try it out before I go to anything else.
When I look at the Purevideo decoders I see three different kinds and it looks like for the most part they get more expensive according to the audio features. If I'm going to be using my onboard audio anyway and it has it's own decoders should that be something I want? Am I going to have sync issues or something if I'm not using their audio decoders?
What is the optimal setting for bitrate for LiveTV and to record with? I can not see much difference between constant bitrate at 12000 and around 2900 for LiveTV preview on the image quality. The only difference are that my dual core have to work more at something around 15-20 % CPU (Athlon64 X2 4200+@2200) instead of the lower 10%.
For recording I use VBR at 2500 with peak at 3700 at medium quality setting. Would constant bitrate provide better result or even be better to for Xvid/h.264 transcoding?
Does the level of bitrate have anything to do later when I transcode to other format like Xvid or h.264?
I would appreciate if some one else then sub could give their own experience on this. System spec are in signature.
I'm currently running 98.8b, and have not converted my database from my original install, so I believe I'm running on Access/.mdb vs. your current releases. I'm running into a few problems, most notably that I'm having trouble adding new recordings...my current recurring recordings seem to be working ok, but I can't adjust them or add new ones.
Before I waste a lot of community time troubleshooting old releases, I thought I should probably get current first. What upgrade path would you suggest in order to convert my existing database and upgrade to the most current release?
Now that my MVP is properly installed (dedicated cat5 run to the MVP, new RCA cables run to it, etc...) I'm starting to use it. I have a question about the OSD during playback. On the GBPVR box itself when I skip forward or backward the top of the screen shows the time/position bar. I don't get that on the MVP. Is there a way to enable that? Is that even an option with the MVP. Does that have to do with "minimal OSD" and what kind of impact would turning that off have?
The other question I had was if I hit the power button the MVP remote and then after some time hit it again to turn the MVP back on the first reconnect attempt says "Failed to locate GUI server", and then a second later it seems to connect and work fine. Is this a known issue? It doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Is there a way to set GBPVR to record anything that has a certain word in it? For example, can I set it to record any show with the word "poker" in either the description or title?
