Hey its me again, but now i'm having a problem with my Gb-PVR on my computer. GB-PVR wont even start anymore. When I start my computer I get this red GBPVR Recording Service window running and when I click it from my taskbar it shows a numbered list of tuners and then disappears. Then when I go to GB-PVR to execute it, it just gives me this error "GB-PVR has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and thats it. Im in need of some dire help because it was working just a few days ago and I didnt really change anything.

I am setting up a GBPVR (latest rev) on a friends PC. I have installed Directx, .NET 2.0, Hauppauge drivers (pretty sure it is a 150MCE - that is what GBPVR thinks it is as well) and GBPVR.
Problem is, I can detect the channels with GBPVRs Tuning Assistant (the channels found are correct) but I do not get anything displayed on the screen - it stays black.
When I update the TV Guide (via XMLTV - thanks Reven!) and manually edit the channels to match, I get still get a black screen.
If a mod wants to delete this post/thread. I don't seem to be able to.
GDay,
I've been desperately trying every single PVR app since I decided to change from my perfect MythTV setup. This plugin may be my last chance.
I have a DVICO DVB-T Plus and am using the composite video input. The recorderTest application works perfectly, recording at 720x576 with the ATi encoder. But GBPVR refuses to work, insisting there isn't a tuner for the channel or something.
I've tried searching for someone that has the same problem, but there are alot of posts here and i must have missed it.
So, to me, it seems that the DVICO DVB-T Plus works with this plugin, but I'm not good enough at setting up gbpvr.
I have been using this for a while with my ipod, but for fun got a zune but i am having conversion problems, 1st is hhow can i convert it for the zune i know it uses wmv and mp4 but all the settings i have used when i transfer to the zune it wants to convert it again, 2nd when i do convert wmv i hearpoping and jerking and the video is like almost 5 minutes behind lol any ideas thanks guys
I use GBPVR on a dedicated PC that sits by the TV, and I use a laptop for myself. I also commute 1 hour to work each way; I wanted to set up a way to automatically update my ipod with the audio from shows recorded on GBPVR. I thought that others might be interested...
It's actually really easy...
1) I set up the GBPVR box to act as a webserver for an intranet, as itunes needs to lookup podcasts from an http:// address. I did this using APACHE
(available here:http://www.ricocheting.com/server/apache.html for instructions, and here: http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi for the software). The ip address on your home network will be the location for the podcast address
2) To generate files for the podcast, I made the following batch file. It uses ffmpeg to change .mpg files to .mp3 files, and place the mp3 files in a podcast directory
Contents of batch file:
for %%I in ("E:\TV\The Daily Show With Jon Stewart\*.mpg") DO FOR /F "tokens=1-5 delims=/: " %%J IN ("%%~tI") DO "C:\Program Files\ffmpeg.rev6830\ffmpeg" -i "E:\TV\The Daily Show With Jon Stewart\%%~nI.mpg" "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\podcasts\DailyShow\DS%%J%%K.mp3"
cd "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\htdocs\podcasts"
xmlerator "dailyshowtxt.txt"
Contents of "dailyshow.txt" which is in the same directory as xmlerator
[RSS]
Title=Daily Show Podcast
Link=http://192.168.0.101/<DirectoryOffset><RssFileName>
Description=Daily show Audio Podcast
Category=TV
ItemTitle=
ItemLink=http://192.168.0.101/<DirectoryOffset><FileNameFull>
[FILEEXT]
mp3=audio/mpeg
3) The location of the mp3 files and metadata have to be wrapped up in an XML file that can be read by itunes. A file called xmlerator can create this xml file. This file is from the following website: http://www.merage.uci.edu/~dvdotnet/xmlerator.html
The author of this file wrote it in C# (.net 2.0) and when it is run, it creates an XML file. There is an options file that indicates where the mp3 file is, what the name of the podcast is, and what the website is for the podcast. This file is invoked in the batch file above.
And that's it! This can be scheduled in the Windows task scheduler for after the show is on, and then in the morning, the podcast xml file will tell itunes to update with the new podcast. I haven't tried it, but probably this could be a method to create podcasts of videos for the video ipod (will need to convert to a compatible video format though).
I'm not sure if this has been answered before, but it's a more or less yes or no answer... What I was wondering, is about the compatibility of skins with plugins designed for other skins.
For example, the appearances plugin only seems to work with the Plain Jane skin. The 'themes' plugin, only works with the BaseSkin (Advisor) skin. And the 'Skin' plugin, only with the Community skin.
However, they appear in the other skins as buttons, if they're there. So for example, having installed the Advisor skin, I installed the Community skin and I got a Themes button, but if I click it, it tells me ERROR: could not find a part of the path ....bla. Because it's in the BaseSkin skin. Same thing with the Skins button in the Advisor skin.
So basically I can't use one in the other, but if I delete the plugin to get rid of the button, then I'm stuck with one.
Am I missing something, or is what I assume right, that my philosophy should be 'Pick only one skin'. Not that I'm complaining, but it would be nice to have all 4. (so far I have installed 4 in my newbie attempts to personalise my new gbpvr).
Sorry for the longwinded post. And thanks to Sub and the community for all the great work!!
Hey so I'm new to this and maybe there is a simple fix but so far I have been unable to find it...
I have a PVR 150 tuner and I installed it on my computer with no problems, ie Win TV runs fine. I then went through the setup for GBPVR with no problems, but when I went to play Live TV I got an error message that said, "error: object reference not set to an instance of an object".
I've tried everything I can think of to solve it and it's still coming up. How do I go about fixing this... I already updated my Video Decoder on the Hauppauge web site and I've tried all the different setting in the GB-PVR setup playback tab...
I posted this inquiry in the WDM software encoding plugin thread a few days ago without response, so I'm trying again here.
Is it possible to force GBPVR to use DxVA/VMR9/Hardware deinterlacing on a standard-def picture WITHOUT tweaking settings in an MPEG2 decoder? I'm not using a codec for standard-def; I'm talking about raw video from the live preview.
A bit of background:
I'm using GBPVR primarily as a high-def PVR, with an OnAir GT capture box used to grab ATSC over-the-air broadcasts in the United States. It works great for that. I'm getting standard-def TV via DirecTV DBS, and I already have a TiVo for that, so what I'm trying to do is set up a channel in GBPVR as a high-quality standard-def passthrough. I'm taking the standard-def video signal from the TiVo, routing it into the S-video input on the OnAir GT box, and setting up a separate capture source using the WDM software encoding plugin (with no encoders installed). So far so good -- I have no need for encoders because I'm not timeshifting or recording the standard-def source.
But I *would* like the picture to be nicely scaled and deinterlaced.
So far it appears I have two unsatisfactory options:
(1) Use a deinterlacing directshow filter capable of handling raw video (and I wasn't thrilled with either Alparysoft or ffdshow for this); or
(2) Forgo deinterlacing entirely. Yuck.
In theory I should be able to get hardware deinterlacing applied via the VMR9 renderer, but I can't figure out how to do that. I am using Windows XP on an Athlon 64 x2 3800+ processor, with integrated GeForce 6150 graphics. That should be enough "grunt" to get the job done, and that graphics processor does (allegedly) support hardware deinterlacing. My HTPC box will eventually be ugraded to non-integrated video, so if that's something I need to do, I'm open to that too.
When a vido that is playing ends normally or if I hit Back/Exit on the remote, the OSD of recordings seems to draw twice, or flash. Do you think you can take a look Sub? Thanks.
