  Editing EGP channel assignments
Posted by: wheemer - 2020-09-24, 05:19 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

Hello;

When editing some of my channels over to another EPG provider I notice major issues in the drop down lists. I tried in Chrome, New Edge and Firefox, same behaviour. While selecting my second source and scrolling through the list it will suddenly jump all over the place and even show the other sources list instead of the actual source I have chosen.

It's seems to be a constant struggle... And I cannot make progress at all sometimes.

Thanks!

  Recording problems
Posted by: GZTired - 2020-09-24, 02:10 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (18)

Hi All,
just started to use nextpvr, running all fine in docker on my qnap nas.

I did some recordings and the result is much bigger files (around 2x bigger) than i had before (on tvmosaic) while i dont care about the size (space enough) their is a problem with the recordings.
every minute  (more or less) the video jumps back in time and replay the same part over and over again, i can jump further into the video to get to the next part but same will happen again.

My feeling is that the stream is recorded twice and merged in the same output *.tx, if that is even possible. I dont know...

what can be the case here? i only have one active tuner (iptv).

I've attached all available logs, hope somebody can look into this for me.

Thanks.

  Picture glitching/pixelating
Posted by: Antelope - 2020-09-23, 06:24 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

Long time user of NPVR, it's been excellent, trouble free for years.

I have an ageing Windows HTPC, an ASRock Vision 3D.  It's been a faithful servant for many years.  Through it I run a Hauppauge Freeview HD USB tuner (PCTV 292e) & a Hauppauge Freesat HD USB tuner (WinTV Nova S2).  Both worked absolutely fine until late August when the picture on both turners started glitching/pixellating for both live TV & recordings.  One day recordings were fine, after that new recordings are unwatchable.  Live TV is unwatchable.

The same issue manifests on both NextPVR v4 & v5.  It is NOT a signal issue and I do not believe this is an issue with NextPVR (tested on a laptop & had no issues at all) but would like to appeal to you good people for any help please.

The ASRock HTPC has an Nvidia GeForce 425M graphics card.  I've done a full reinstall of Windows & noticed when reinstalling the manufacturer provided drivers for the onboard Intel graphics are now obsolete for Windows 10 so for graphics it is running only the Nvidia GeForce graphics card.

Whilst testing NextPVR on a Windows 10 laptop there were no picture glitching issues whatsoever.

Checking the Task Manager Performance Manager on the laptop whilst running NextPVR revealed it was only using its onboard graphics card - the Nvidia GPU on the laptop was not being used at all.

I'm wondering whether the ASRock Nvidia card is struggling with decoding the signal?  On the ASRock HTPC, checking Task Manager Performance Manager whilst running NPVR, the GPU is only at about 30% load but I wonder whether the Intel onboard graphics chip (which it can no longer use) is just more suited to the job of decoding the signal?

Any insight gratefully received.  It's strange how both tuners worked fine for years & both now have the same picture issue at the same time. The ASRock came with Windows 7 but has been running Windows 10 pretty much since the upgrade became available & NextPVR has worked fine until last month.  I'd rather not replace the ASRock unless I have to so this is the last throw of the dice! Thanks.

PS In case of questions, what I've tried:

  1. Removing all Windows updates beyond the glitch date
  2. Uninstalling/reinstalling both tuners
  3. Delete both tuners from NextPVR to start from fresh (did not re-use my existing profile, did not import channels in order to rule out any gremlins here)
  4. Uninstall/Reinstall NextPVR
  5. Plugging the coaxial directly into TV (ruling out any potential issues with the cabling junction splitter - it's not a signal issue either, perfect picture when testing on the laptop)
  6. Updating the decoders used by NextPVR (I've always used LAV decoder. Updating LAV decoder didn't help nor did switching to ffdshow)
  7. Full reinstall of Windows
  8. Blocked the fresh installation of Windows from updating to rule out a rogue update
  9. Tried watching live TV via NextPVR using multiple browsers, same issue
  10. Updated Windows so that it matched the version on the laptop.  Made no difference

Australian user to test Schedules Direct
Posted by: sub - 2020-09-23, 04:40 AM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (2)

Schedules Direct are looking for an Australian user or two who would be interested in to trying out their updated Australian guide data, and provide them feedback on how you're finding it. If you're interested in being that guinea pig, send me a PM and I'll put you in contact with the appropriate person.

Schedules Direct typically provides nicer data than what you'd get with the DVB EPG, including more accurate artwork, season/episode numbers etc.

Thanks!

  Windows Client not saving settings
Posted by: MKPhil - 2020-09-22, 08:36 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (20)

Just rebuilt my media PC and installed v5 for the first time (was running v4 previously) and I can't seem to save the settings for the Windows Client, specifically the folders for Videos, Music & Pictures.  I'm wondering it is a permissions issue as the user I run NextPVR under is a regular, non-admin user (for security reasons).  Any ideas?

Arch x64 install fails ATSC scan ("status":"Error: No such file or directory")
Posted by: jwh7 - 2020-09-22, 03:28 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (18)

After getting dtv-scan-tables-git installed, I went to do an ATSC scan and it gives:

Code:
[4] {"stat":"ok",                                                                                                                                                "complete":true,                                                                                                                                                  "status":"Error: No such file or directory",                                                                                                                      "channels": [                                                                                                                                                    ]

And yes I did try restarting NextPVRServer.dll and logout/login to the web client.  The log didn't seem to provide any better clue as to what path is causing the 'status' failure.

As an aside, regarding the thread that mentioned the Devices being generically named (ref: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...047&page=3), please use my logs if it helps that endeavor.  :-)
My ATSC and QAM adapters are both named "Local Recorder (adapter0)" while the log shows e.g.:
Code:
<name>adapter0 (Samsung S5H1409 QAM/8VSB Frontend)</name> <type>ATSC</type> <filter>adapter0</filter>

and...
Code:
<name>adapter0 (Samsung S5H1409 QAM/8VSB Frontend)</name> <type>QAM</type> <filter>adapter0</filter>

Maybe something like {type}: {name} or similar would be better to populate the 'Devices' ?  I can instead reply to the other thread with this if that's preferred (don't want to necro).
Thanks!

  Auto Update M3U daily
Posted by: jleonard711 - 2020-09-21, 07:38 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

Is there any way to auto-update the M3U file every day without having to manually log into the web interface and click the "Update M3U" button? Maybe a script of some sort that could do it for me? I have a lot of channels which change names on a daily or weekly basis for things like live sports, PPV event, etc, and having to go in a click that button and save it each day is just a tedious task and one that I feel should be able to be automated in some way. I already use an M3U editor to pick the channels and categories that I want, so I'm not worried about it adding random roque channels or messing up my configuration. 95% of the channels will stay the same, but those 5% that change need to be updated all the time.

  knewc 2.9.0 Release Dual Mode
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-09-21, 07:31 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (63)

I have attached an updated version of knewc for feedback

1. It should work with both Matrix and Leia.   The goal is to have the release version automatically update Kodi from one repo,

2. Enabled PVR mode for recording playback which falls back to standard mode if the the NextPVR Kodi addon is disabled.

Advantages of PVR mode
- comkip works without a network share
- live tv timeshift works including pause if enabled in Kodi (NextPVR v5 strongly recommended)
- in-progress recordings should work

Disadvantages
- Kodi PVR can take minutes to initialize on startup and after sleep
- cannot hide PVR notifications.

If you are happy with knewc playback now stay with Native mode and consider enabling the PVR addon only when necessary.

3. Changed UI client  to handle sockets timeouts when NextPVR leaves connections open

4. Start UI client in same NextPVR screen when you exit via the control key (simulate v4 behaviour)

5. Better timeout handling

6. Misc fixes
