I have been running 98.13b since release without any issues, but for some reason this morning when I went to open config.exe via the start menu shortcut it kicks off the 'windows is configuring gbpvr' reinstall routine (it was working fine prior to this morning...?). I even had to download the installer to the desktop again to get it to run, but once config opened, it still had all my previous settings (phew).
I remember having this before and doing something - which I can't recall - to fix it. Any ideas? I've checked the shortcut and it seems to be pointing to the correct location.
Also, a suggestion for the future - is there any chance that the installer could check to see if it's an upgrade and automatically export (and import?) existing recording info? I forget to do this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME....
I had ver. 98.08 working just fine. I upgraded to 98.13 and now i can not get any image or sound. I double checked all my settings. I even did a complete clean install but I still get the same problem.
The everything else seems to work but not image and no sound. What happened?
I have the following mux's installed cyberlink Intervideo and ATI.
I am very new to both using forums, GBPVR and computer programming in general. I read sub's comment on how to better describe a problem that you want help with but I still feel awkward in posting comments in an appropriate manner.
For example, when would you post a question as a private message to the author and when would you post in the forum?
I really appreciate all the work that sub does to improve the program and that all of you do to improve the plugins and answer questions that may seem very obvious to you. However, if I post a thank you for each piece of help, it might actually be more burdensome to the forum in general by cluttering it up. Do you, the programmers, feel appreciated even if you don't get a posted thank you? Would a private post thank you be more or less appreciated than a posted forum thank you?
I would also like to know when I should "quote" the comment I am referring to in my post and when it is not necessary. I thought I had it figured out; quote when the person you are replying to only when it is not the last post made but then when I used the search feature to find posts, I was confused as to whether it was or wasn't the last post.
How much information about my system should I provide when asking questions or is it specific to the problem?
I have seen problems where the person was asked to add a zipped file of somesort to solve the problem. This seems like an intimidating task to me since I have never created a zip file before. After you open the winzip program, find the file asked for, what do you do? I assume it depends on the nature of the problem as to whether it is needed or not.
Finally, I would like to help with tasks in anyway I can but I don't have enough knowledge to develop anything or even test for bugs (since the problem could just as easily be me). If anything comes up where someone needs a non-compuer-geek type person to do something, please ask me.
And a big thank you to everyone who has helped me with my questions so far!
I have a number of shows that I want to have manually imported into the Recordings rather than Video Library. The MpegImport tool is great here, but often the sub-title of the show (really, the important bit) is only visible when you drop into a line.
I'd like to see either a three-line view of recordings
- Name
- Subtitle
- Details
Or the option that if you have a "Category" of recordings with the same name, then when you drop into it (see screen show below) that the Title is dropped and the subtitle only is shown.
Just a quick question hopefully! When playing xvid files through GB-PVR they seem to be much darker than if I play them through MP10. Any idea why this might be? I've only got the xvid decoder installed so they must both be using that, and I've trying changing GB-PVR from overlay to VMR9 custom and back but doesn't seem to make a difference.
Yesterday I recorded two programs (scheduled with the standard TV-guide). The programs were recorded just fine, but they got the wrong name and description. So program "Mooi! Weer De Leeuw" on channel 1, 20:25 - 21:25 got the name "Sesamstraat" and program "Koefnoen" on channel 1, 21:25 - 22:05 got the name "Nederland Transparant".
I've included the logs, the xmltv file and the db3 file. I'm on the latest release 0.98.13, but I have experienced this behaviour in previous releases.
Sorry for the convoluted redirection, but HtV has possibly isolated an error which I have also been afflicted with, concerning restarting the recording service. HtV notes this MAY be affected by EWA. Could I ask you to peruse this thread including the posted errors and see if we can provide you any additional information which might help determine if indeed it is related to EWA?
I can not start streaming via EWA. I checked all settings I could think of but can't find the obvious. I get the following errormessage:

The error recieved is the same on the GBPVR server machine as well as on a client machine. I disabled firewall and virus scanners without result.
VLC transcoding is not started at all. It seems this is where things go wrong. I have VLC version 0.8.5 installed int eh default dir.
Hello
I have troubles setting up my client PC to access the master PC correctly.
I can watch recorded shows with GB-PVR client and also view the TV Guide.
But scheduling a new recording or watching live TV ends in error.
Which setting I still have to adapt to get it running?
Regards Neo
I'm working on a program in Visual Basic 2005 that will be a front end for removing commercials from recordings. The intent of the program is to be including in GBPVR's postprocessing.bat.
I'm planning on implementing the following commercial removing techniques:
1. Cuttermaran
- Use comskip TXT files to generate a Cuttermaran file, and run Cuttermaran automatically.
- Option to replace the original file with the new one
2. Transcode
- Use VirtualDubMod to transcode the video, without commercials, to DivX or XviD
- Configurable encoding options such as video size, 1 or 2 pass, noise reduction
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, or currently has a good way to remove commercials that they would like to be automated, I would be happy to hear any ideas.
