  XDVD Timeline and Skipping
Posted by: Mr. Camaro - 2006-10-26, 04:21 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm using XDVD to watch DVD's on the MVP. Last night I tried to watch my first DVD. Everything started out fine but when I tired to skip forward and back it jumped all over the place. Pausing showed that the movie was something like 9 hours long and it showed that I was watching about 8 hours into the movie after it had just started. Finally I got back to where I was in the movie and I let it be.

Just wondering if this is normal operation for XDVD. Is it possible to skip around using this plugin? Do I need to tweak something to get it to work?

Thanks,

  mvp and commercial skipping
Posted by: southpawsc - 2006-10-26, 04:11 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

I've had problems with gbpvr not skipping commercials sometimes when I'm viewing through MVP and comskip did run successfully.
In my case, I run comskip manually sometime after the show has been recorded. What I've found is that if I view the show without the computer being restarted since comskip ran, I do not get commercial skips(time line shows commercials) and the play button won't skip it either. If I reboot computer, then I do get the skips.
So I'm assuming that something in gbpvr has to be reset to read the new comskip files. If so, what needs to be restarted so this can be accomplished, so I don't have to reboot the machine. I know its not the recording service.

GBPVRcli - extract information from GB-PVR for use in batch and text files
Posted by: Mister Slimm - 2006-10-26, 03:47 PM - Forum: Slimm GB-PVR and GBPVRcli - Replies (2)

This is a BETA preview of my little utility that produces output to the console. This is something I am working on at the moment. I look forward to your comments, suggestions.

The help file installed in the "GB-PVR/Documentation" start menu group contains detailed information about how to use this utility.

It is part of my SlimmGBPVR project. If, after installation, you do not wish to use the Tray Utility part:

  1. Right click the SlimmGBPVR tray icon and select Close.
  2. Go to your "All Programs\Startup" folder from the Start menu and delete the SlimmGBPVR shortcut.

Features:
  • Get information about pending recordings.
  • Get information about in-progress recordings.
  • Filter information returned to include, for example, only recordings on BBC1 or something.
  • Use in conjunction with GB-PVR batch files.

Slimm GB-PVR - alternative tray app for GB-PVR
Posted by: Mister Slimm - 2006-10-26, 03:45 PM - Forum: Slimm GB-PVR and GBPVRcli - No Replies

I have completed a functioning version of my GBPVRTray replacement. wiki entry.
Note: this version is not compatible with GBPVR v0.96.12 or earlier.

This now includes:

  • A tray utility (the original Slimm GB-PVR)
  • GBPVRcli (forum thread)

To install:
  1. Ensure you have installed .NET Framework 2.0. It can probably be installed by accessing your Windows Update or you can follow this download link: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable
  2. Download and install SlimmGBPVR: Direct download link

About my use of GBPVR
I use GBPVR on a normal PC and only use the GBPVR interface for scheduling recordings. I watch all my recordings using PowerDVD. I wrote this because of always having to double-click the system tray icon to confirm what is actually recording at any given time.

For all details regarding current version, please see documentation which is installed alongside the utility and is available in the GBPVR start menu group.

Features
  • Customisable.
  • Lists next few pending recordings and allows you to cancel them.
  • Lists contents of your recordings folder and allows you to launch them directly. When you've finished watching them, you are asked if would like to delete the recording (it will move it to the recycle bin).
  • Can shutdown your computer when current recording session has finished.
  • Provides direct computer shutdown links.
  • Added warning to "restart recording service" option so recordings not accidentally wiped.
  • Can stop active recordings from right-click menu.
  • Much the same functionality as the current GBPVRTray but you do not have to double-click the icon to see what GBPVR is recording. Simply move the mouse over the icon and a balloon tip will appear with information.
  • You can launch "GBPVR" and "Config" from the right-click menu.

Comments, bugs, suggestions, requests all welcome.

  Configuring Haupauge HVR-1300
Posted by: thecritic - 2006-10-26, 11:08 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (19)

Hi,

I've just bought a Haupauge HVR-1300 TV-card, this all works fine with the s/w supplied, but i'm looking for a better interface hence i want to use gbpvr. Unfortunatley i'm having trouble setting up GBPVR with this card, i've had a look around the forums but cannot find a definitive guide to setting this up. Can anyone offer help.

Cheers

  Problem using overlay mode
Posted by: frankmcg - 2006-10-26, 09:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (31)

Have things mostly working using VMR9 custom (see my other posts for various problems though!) but tried last night to switch to overlay mode to see if this helped things.

All I switched was purevideo to prefer overlay and selected overlay in the GB-PVR playback tab, now I don't get any picture on the display at all for live tv, only sound. OSD works fine too, just don't get the TV picture.

Any idea what's causing this? Does overlay mode use the same decoders as VMR9?

Tuner/capture card for Satellite HDTV recording?
Posted by: jenkido - 2006-10-26, 07:49 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

I'd like to record satellite HDTV signals. (ExpressVu)

(I know that tuners can't handle the encrypted signals of non-free satellite signals so I'll be using an IR blaster with my STB.)

Is there a recommended tuner card that will do this and work with GBPVR?

Thanks Smile
