  MVP: how does it work?
Posted by: Crimsoneer - 2006-10-01, 04:50 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (31)

Hey I have just gone and bought an MVP for my laptop and I am wondering how it works with gbpvr: do I need a TV tuner/card, or do I use the MVP instead?

  Email HDD Plugin
Posted by: buu700 - 2006-10-01, 03:57 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

There should be a plugin that allows one to have recorded video just stored on an email address instead of on the hard drive. Is that possible?

  Green box on screen
Posted by: desync0 - 2006-10-01, 03:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I tried that already Smile

It's a solid green box. Lighter colour then the green from the OSD.

I think the video overlay isn't being resized after the OSD goes away. But I dunno how to fix it Smile

  A few questions
Posted by: buu700 - 2006-10-01, 03:18 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

Is GB-PVR compatible with this tv tuner card and this remote?
Also, can GB-PVR record in mpeg-4 or, if it can't, is there a plugin that will allow it to?

Very new to the whole PVR experience and I'm trying to feel my way around this software. Can someone tell me how I access web admin? or point out a thread that can explain this to me and the features available...thank you.

  mvp with wireless problems
Posted by: cramp - 2006-10-01, 01:53 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

Hi All,

I’m having some trouble getting gbpvr running over my wifi network. The problems i am having I believe are with the wireless set up as i have tried 3 versions of gb pvr and not a lot has changed with the way things are working (I am now on the latest release & have stuck to the blue skin for now). The problems I am getting are -

1. Slow connection to server and load up application in the startup screen when turning on MVP this some times takes several minutes and occasionally the MVP can’t pick up the server at all and starts up afresh.

2. MVP remote response is slightly erratic scrolling the menus can sometimes be hard work up to several seconds delay between icons it seems to get worst the further down the menu I scroll. There is also a long delay between channel changing.

3. bad live TV picture, the picture and sound is stuttery, since upgrading to the latest gb pvr release I don’t really get picture just very stuttry few frames and sound this improves on some channels but is unwatchable. On recordings though the playback is ok.

4. I can see my music database on screen but can’t get play back this has only just happened since the new release I was able to get playback before.

5. The MVP sometimes restarts this can be pretty random watching live TV or doing something else but only when the remote is being used to change channel or select something.

Some features work ok like the weather plugin, news feeds and cinema listings.

I have a fairly standard system 3200+, 1 GB ram, msi mother board with gigabyte Ethernet running xp pro. This is connected to a linksys wrt154gl that runs open source dd-wrt, this connects to a linksys wirelessG bridge, then the MVP to the TV. The MVP model is 86202 rev h3 lot 2106 I haven’t updated the MVP software.
I have no experience with wi-fi or networking all I have done is increase the strength of the wifi signal using DD-WRT interface and the signal strength is fine (besides I live in a small flat with cardboard walls). There are lots of different options in the DD-WRT interface it seams really good software but I don’t know where to start to get the MVP working well, I would really appreciate some good advice.

Regards Stuart.

GBPVR.Backend.Common.ScheduleHelper fatal error when playing recording
Posted by: toomanyhandles - 2006-10-01, 01:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I thought this was skin related, but I finally got a log of the exception.

All seems fine with 9808b, except playing a recording causes a fatal exception dialog. just moving the dialog aside, all continues to work fine.

I finally got a log of it, and this seems to be the issue:

The backend.common DLL file is in place. It is version 1.0.2445.14608.

I searched to see if this was mentioned earlier but I only found a a post about having moved the file.

It seems that I can just drag the dialog off-screen but that doesn't seem ideal. I've got enough recordings in 098 now that I don't wish to go back to 96.12, so I'd like to fix this in place if I can.

Running the 098 installer to repair doesn't fix it.

How have people been doing upgrading from 96.12 to 098? I can get a bse install going OK but as soon as I add plugins (098 ready plugins) problems start to come up. This might hvae started happening after the weather plugin install. But the weather pluging works and uninstalling/reinstalling makes no positive change.

Should I just do a clean install of 098 and import (via the config program option to import recordings ) the recordings-dump.xml? (Is that all I'd need to do, other than reconfig capture devices etc?)

Thanks for assistence. Other, and full, logs attached.

  comclean & comskippad not working?
Posted by: fogwolf - 2006-10-01, 01:43 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - No Replies

I have my ParallelProcessing.bat set to run comskip, comskippad & then comclean. It seems comclean runs fine (a log file shows up with details of where the ads are), but I'm not so sure comskippad is running & something is definitely wrong with comclean because there is no new cleaned file produced - just the file with "original" in the name with commercials included. I started redirecting the output of comclean to a file & am getting something like this:

Resulting cutpoints: 0:8:31 0:13:28 0:18:29 0:20:26

C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr>"c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\mpgtx.exe" -j -f -o "H:\videos\pvr\Meerkat Manor\Meerkat Manor_20060930_00300100_clean.mpg" "H:\videos\pvr\Meerkat Manor\Meerkat Manor_20060930_00300100.mpg" [0:0:5-0:8:37] [0:12:21-0:17:18] [0:20:32-0:25:32] [0:30:2-0:31:59] [0:31:59-]
Resulting cutpoints: 0:8:31 0:13:28 0:18:29 0:20:26

but no file is showing up! Also, I'm redirecting any output from comskippad to a file & that is turning up empty each time - there is either no output or it's not running properly.

Here's my ParallelProcessing.bat file:

C:
cd "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr"
echo %2 >"%~n1.REC"
echo %2 >"%~n1.PaP.REC"
REM *** The lines above are the first lines in ParallelProcessing.bat ***

REM *** Channels W/O Commercials ****
REM if "%2" == "13" goto end:
REM if "%2" == "14" goto end:
comskip %1
comskippad %1 > comskippad.log
call comclean %1 > comclean.log
RenameRecording.exe -t %1 > rename.log

REM *** The lines below are the last lines in ParallelProcessing.bat ***
:end
del "%~n1.REC"

And in case something is happening afterwards here's my PostProcessing.bat:

C:
cd "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr"
echo %2 >"%~n1.PoP.REC"
DEL "%~n1.PaP.REC"
Confusedtart
Timeout.exe 5
IF EXIST "%~n1.REC" goto start:
REM *** Start Normal PostProcessing.bat Operation ***

REM *** End normal PostProcessing.bat entries ***
DEL "%~n1.PoP.REC"

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Can't get any picture with GBPVR - Help!?
Posted by: steveklein - 2006-10-01, 01:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hey everyone. I've installed my PVR-500 in my PC (1.5GHz/512mb RAM/Windows XP Professional) and am running into a problem.

I get no picture. I got my EPG with Zap2It set up correctly but cannot get any picture. Instead, I just get lines that look like the attachment below. For what it's worth, all drivers are installed and up to date. Also, the lines are not in motion. It is just 1 still frame (it's not snow or anything).

I have a few ideas where the problem might be:
- On the GB-PVR config on the "Capture Sources" tab, I'm not exactly sure what I need to set. I have 2 tuners so do I need to set up both of them? For recorder plugin, I've selected Direct Recording Plugin. For board number, I just put #1 in for both of them. I only have 1 card so I figured that was probably right. I'm in the USA and have that selected and also have Internal Tuner selected along with tuning by cable. How should the two tuner setups differ? Is all this set up correctly?

- The problem may be codec related. The reason I say this is because I tested out the recording function and attempted to play the .mpg file in Windows Media Player 9 and the file won't play there either. And when it doesn't play the status bar on the bottom of Windows Media Player says things like Attempting to find codec... Searching for codec... Error downloading codec. And subsequently the file wouldn't play.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

BDA recordings don't work; AVerTVHD A180
Posted by: Braklet - 2006-10-01, 01:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Just installed my shiny new ATSC receiver. Live TV works great, but I can't get any working recordings.

Normally, MuxChecker reports "no multiplexer found," so I tried the default embedded Microsoft mux. This results in a 4k dvr-ms file that can't be played.

I downloaded and registered the Cyberlink mux:

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: c:\Applications\GB-PVR\Multiplexers\MpgMux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.0813

This results in a 0k mpg file that can't be played.

For fun, I also installed the native AVerTV 6 app. This records to proper mpg files which play fine. Unfortunately, GB-PVR apparently can't use its filters.

I've attached two log subsets containing information that looked relevant. If anybody could take a look and provide a lead I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

[ADDENDUM: recording to Transport Stream does work but the .ts files are about 3x as big as the equivalent MPG files VideoReDo produces. And GB-PVR can't view .ts files so preview & timeshift don't work.]
