I'm putting together my first PVR tonight, using GB-PVR (of course). Most of my parts are spares left over from other projects or upgrades, and I'm a little concerned that it may not have the performance needed to run well.
AMD 1 GHz Duron
256 MB DDR-RAM
250 GB hard drive
Hauppauge 150
SoundBlaster Live soundcard
Windows 2000
Will this be a servicable machine? I'd rather not upgrade the processor, since it would mean buying a motherboard and new RAM as well. I'm not looking for instantaneous response times, I just want to ensure that my PVR will work okay.
I have a suggestion for improving the AddCaptureCard part of the Wiki
Step 2
Copy a section of an existing TV card and rename to you card.
Example belows show a copy of the Conexant section
Note! Filter name must have exact spelling and it is case sensitive
To find the names of the filters, open GraphEdit (link below) and select Graph->Insert Filters... (or type Ctrl-F)
Click the '+' next to BDA Receiver Component and BDA Source Filters
In the BDA Receiver Component Section ignore the BDA MPE Filter and BDA Slip De-Framer and note the name of the next filter in the list. BDA Source Filters should only list one filter unless you've installed multiple TV cards.
Use the filter specified in BDA Receiver Component as the name for FILTER_TUNER.
Use the filter specified in BDA Source Filters for FILTER_CAPTURE
Spelling must be exact, including capitals.
[Conexant BDA DVB-T]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=Conexant BDA DVB-T Tuner/Demod
FILTER_CAPTURE=Conexant 2388x Transport Stream Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
[Your Digital TV card name ]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=Your TV cards Tuner Filter name
FILTER_CAPTURE=Your TV cards Transport Stream Capture filter name
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
If the same filter name is listed in both the Receiver and Source sections in GraphEdit, use the following bda.ini entry instead
[Your Digital TV card name ]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
RECEIVER_ONLY_MODE=1
FILTER_RECEIVER=Your TV card's filter name
PIN_RECEIVER_IN=Antenna In Pin
PIN_RECEIVER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
OK so after a bit of help from Psycik it looks like it's not a plugin problem after all....
Visualisations are missing (suddenly) from music library and music library2. I definately have <usemediaplayerforaudio>=true and I definately have visualisations enabled and working in WMP. So far I've tried (in no particular order):
Rollback WMP to 9.
Reinstall WMP 10.
Install WMP 11.
Repair install of GBPVR.
Tried replacing my config with the virginal config master.
VMR and Overlay modes (I usually have it set to VMR9 which has caused no probs in the past)
Removed all plugins
Reinstalled ML2
There's a few specialelement errors in my logs but i'm not bright enough to know if they're related.
They've always worked fine up till now, and I have no idea what I've done to mess it up:confused:
[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
Anyone use VirtualDub to convert their recordings? Before my HD crashed, VD had no problem converting the recorded MP2 audio to MP3. Now I get the "cannot find decompressor" error, even though I can play it in WMP and others just fine.
Does anyone know the fix for this? I know there is one since I had been doing it until now.
I was cleaning my room, accidentally flipped power switch on power strip that pc was plugged into...Some weird surge happend and my video card is now...toast. If i have it in the pc..it wont even boot, or i dont think it does...but theres no video to know for sure .... As far as i know..every thing else is fine....I hope! I'd hate to have to drop another 75 for a pvr 150. I'm already dropping 40 for a nvidia 6200 (should this perform decent ?)...
Hi to all who read this!!!!
I am new to this and I need your help to finish what I started. My fujitsu lifebook is fairly new (xmas 05) its 80gb 1.86 Ghz upgraded Ram from 512 to 1.25 gigs centrino process w/o the tuner option. I bought the wintv usb2 after reading for countless hours and downloaded and installed Gbpvr and everything is fine on the notebook, Then I wanted that function on my Tv with my direcTV d10 reciever so I ordered Mvp. I installed the MVP with GBPVR and I get the menu can browse my guide everthing but watch live tv w Gbpvr can you help me with this!!!!!. I have Ir blaster setup however I am more focused on getting the option of pause rew rec on my tv then I ll worry about the remote. My setup is the same as the posted dish net setup with the coax from the reciever to a splitter that has one coax to the wintv device and the other coax to my Tv. I have 3composite an s Video the norm for a HDtv so I jus need any kind of advice to get the tivo effect on TV thanks
Using v0.94.13 with a Hauppauge 150 card I can view Live TV beautifully but cannot playback scheduled recordings on my PC screen. The display has a tear or rip from the top left corner to the bottom right. Everything in the lower triangle displays ok while the top right triangle is "mangled".
Im using Overlay manager and the NVIDIA video decoder.
I am in the middle of upgrading hardware so have installed a NEW GBPVR with .NET 2 from scratch and all seems to be fine (although not live yet).
Theres one thing i want to check now before i go and take the old (working) box out and put this one in and get an earbashing from my otherhalf about this...
I have a PVR150 card (will be removing the PVR350 card) this card as 3 inputs, Composite, SVideo and TUNER thats built in.
I am only using the Composite with a UK SKY box for recording so this is easy, no matter what i record just need to make sure the SKY box switches over already by itself.
Now if i ADD the Tuner in which has 5 channels, how do i tell GBPVR to do the below...
Record BB1 (channel name so you dont get confused) on TUNER from 1800 to 1900
Record SKY1 on COMPOSITE from 1830 to 1900
I dont want this to be "guess work" i really need to see somewhere something that says "BB1 on input x?" or at least somehow check which input (Composite, SVideo or Tuner on which ever card (thinking about using a few) so i know which input on which card is in use so i dont disturb it..... see what i mean????
The main reason it needs to tie up with the timers on the external units.
Before i play with the new install like to check this, nearly killed the current working install with things like this.
Anyone offer a suggestion as to why the visualisations might not be working in Music Library2 (i think they broke after upgrading from 3.11 to 3.12)???
I've not touched either WMAforaudio true (default) or WMAfornetradio false (default) - which were the only causes of missing visuals that I could find in the forums.
