  general plug-in/skin question?
Posted by: cginzel - 2006-07-16, 05:51 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

i was just wondering, i haven't seen this answered before and i don't believe there is a skin/plug-in that takes advantage of something like this, but is it possible to "inject" a single button into an existing "page" for lake of a better word, and have that button action passed to a registered plug-in? everything I've seen seems to show each plug-in handling the entirety of the functionality of that module. i was wondering if there was a way to "extend" the functionality without having to re-write the functionality for the whole plug-in. I'm sure this would be a tricky thing to do as there would probably be parameters that the "action" would need to pass... and this would take the skinning to a more generic path than it may be in it's current state. i did see some old posts about a skin engine... a "skingine" Smile but it seems that what is in place is almost like a web server in a way, except that it can be sent to the TV via an MVP.

anyway, just a crazy thought...

  Wiki file size for .exe
Posted by: Old Dog - 2006-07-16, 05:41 PM - Forum: Forum Issues & Documentation - Replies (5)

Some of the developers are starting to use installation programs for their plug-ins and skins.

Would it be possible to allow very large .exe files in the wiki upload section?

Thanks,

questions relating to comskip and tray icon
Posted by: velillen - 2006-07-16, 05:15 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

ok first the tray icon. Its not really a problem as more of an annoyance. In the tray i have two gbpvr's running which equals two processes. They both start on system startup. i can close one after start up and th eother works just fine.

http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=436658

thats my msconfig start up. as you can see theres two selected to start up. but if i deselect one there then neither will load on start up. Any ideas how to get just one to start up and not two?

Ok now for comskip. THis is an easy on. Basically do you have to watch the file with gbpvr to have no commercials? I use VLC media player (irecord on desktop and watch on laptop) to view but i dont want commercials anymore f possible. So basically can i use comskip and vlc or would is the ocmskip for watching on gbpvr?

Choppy recordings with DIVCO Fusion 5 Lite
Posted by: vlar - 2006-07-16, 04:22 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Live TV works great with GBPVR, but recordings are not successful because the video and audio are choppy. I downloaded the cyberlink multiplexer v5.0.0813 from here, regestered it, and then verified its installation with MuxChecker. It's the only multiplexor that MuxChecker sees. What should I try next?

  Processor Upgrade Advice?
Posted by: zed - 2006-07-16, 04:06 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I have a Dell 1100 box with a 2.53GHz Celeron and 1G of DDR400 memory in it. It seems to run GB-PVR pretty well altho I don't do any conversions with it, just record and playback. It can be upgraded to a 3.0GHz P4 HT. Any thoughts on whether that would be a worthwhile upgrade? My understanding is that the Celeron runs the bus at 533 MHZ where the P4 runs it at 800. Then there's also the HT capability. FWIW. I can get a P4 for about $100US. I'm trying to decide if it'd be worth it.

Any thoughts/comments/advice will be appreciated.

Thanks...

  XRecord, XSearch, & XGuide
Posted by: Old Dog - 2006-07-16, 03:51 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (7)

I have skinned XRecord, XSearch, & XGuide to work with Plain Jane.

A new Plain Jane Setup program has been created and replaces the zip files in the wiki.
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Skin/PlainJane

Please test these changes and let me know of any problems.

BTW, I get an error message when I leave the XSearch screen. I haven't a clue to the cause. Please let me know how this screen behaves on your system.

Best Regards,
Old Dog

Video Library - directory contents refresh bug
Posted by: weisguy - 2006-07-16, 03:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi All,

A small bug to report - when copying a new file (from another computer on my LAN via standard Microsoft home networking) into my designated video library folder, the contents of the directory are not refreshed when I exit the "video library" screen and re-enter it. Thus the new item is not displayed until I restart the GBPVR application.

I am using the latest release 97.13 and the new (version 2) of the Video Library screen. Is anyone else able to easily duplicate this bug and confirm?

Thanks,
Brian

  Recording issues
Posted by: rxtx - 2006-07-16, 02:51 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Allo.

gbpvr is fantastic, but I'm having an issue when recording from BBC Three + Four (TV). There is no audio and the playback seems to be at 2- 3x the normal speed.

Is this an issue that anybody else has experienced or knows anything about? The system running is a little underpowered, but chugs away nicely for the most part.

Any ideas?
