This tutorial is a walkthrough of methods that are on the InstallerScriptFiles wiki site.
First steps are to download the free Nullsoft scriptable installer and install it.
Next, download this free NSIS editor (with built in wizards) and install it.
This is going to be for a large skin. For a small plugin with only a few files, you can cut and paste the example from the wiki and change names to files you need.
This example will be what the next version of Chameleon will use to install, complete with uninstaller.
First thing I do is copy everything I will need for the skin into a "working" directory so I can prune out anything I don't need to be installed. My working directory will be c:Installer\skin\chameleon. (I find it easier if I use "Installer" as if it was the directory c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr" and keep all files and folders underneath in the same relative path.)
Next, I will open the HM NIS editor and start a new script from wizard.

Set the default install directory and choose your license file or readme.txt
(I will use a more advanced method later for choosing install directory so I will uncheck the box to allow users to choose directory)

I'm trying to setup GB-PVR to recognise my KWorld DVB-T 355U usb stick with no success
Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
I've added the following to bda.ini:
[KWorld DVB-T 355U]
TUNING_TYPE=DVB-T
FILTER_TUNER=BDA 2870 TVTuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=USB 2870 Device
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
When i click 'Only Show devices detected in this machine' in setup then it shows this card in the list but when i try to Map the channels i get the attached error.
I was using a nvidia 440mx card but found that the VMR9 performance was inadequate, so after looking around decided to give the ATI X1300 a try.
I'd never used ATI, always nvidia, so thought a change was in order.
BUT.
It overheats, and then either reboots the PC or locks up.
If I place an extra fan in the case blowing over the card it improves things but I'd like something more permanent and a little bit more "elegant".
Going to try a slot fan when I get the chance.
Main issues here are A) Noise, and B) The htpc uses a micro ATX board with only 3 pci slots and they are all populated.
If need be I can free up one slot, but would rather not.
Also considered cutting a hole in the case lid above the graphics card to allow heat to escape but don't really want to hack into a $400 case!
I have noticed some interesting interactions that happen when changing the selections for "use short skip instead of FF/RW" and the audio renderer selections.
I am using the Cyberlink codecs for video and audio decoders, and the directsound for audio renderer. (the cyberlink renderer crashes gbpvr.exe).
GB-PVR v0.97.9 with an ATI Theater 550 Pro. XP Pro SP2
What I noticed in trying different renderer selections, was that at least two of them will affect the wave volume level in my system in an odd way.
When I have "use short skip instead of FF/RW" turned off and use ff while playing, the audio goes away, and when I return to normal playing, the audio is still gone.
This doesn't happen when "use short skip instead of FF/RW" is checked with any audio renderer selection, although some selections seem to sync audio and video more quickly (and sometimes at all) than others.
Now, here's the odd part: I discovered this because I thought I had lost audio completely after some of my experimentation. I even rebooted a couple of times and still no audio.
What finally got it back for me, was sliding the windows volume control for wave level down and back up. I tested this by leaving the windows volume controls open while running gbpvr.exe and FFing with the problem renderer selections.
The windows main volume slider reacts to my remote commands, the wave slider will not change, and I can have no audio until I slide the wave control down and back up. Go figure.
I am using a Hauppage PVR500. In the playback tab/Hardware decoder device, it doesnt give me the option of using the PVR500. The only options I have are "None - use software decoder" "Hauppauge PVR350" and "Sigma Designs Xcard" The other two dont work at all and when I use software decoding I only get audio. Any suggestions?
I have searched and searched for this problem. . .but to no avail! Everything seems to go okay until I am in the actual GBPVR Theater Listing screen. . .it keeps telling me "You have no shows to"
I have done everything. I have renamed the .bat file, I have edited the .bat file with my zip, I have typed in the getmovieslistings.exe with my zip in command prompt. I have tried everything!
I'm having an issue while watching recorded programs that have been run through comskip. When the commercial comes on, I hit play on the remote to skip the commercial, and when the video plays again, there is a lot of ghosting whenever something moves on screen. To get rid of it, I have to press the FWD button twice, RWD button twice, pause, then play all in quick succession. 99% of the time this will get rid of the ghosting. I have a very fast system:
P4 3.0
1GB RAM
ATI 9550 256MB
NVIDIA PureVideo Decoders (with CSY's advice on configuring)
GBPVR w/ SQLite DB
Any suggestions? The wife isn't very happy about it hehe.
I just got a new Wireless MVP and have been unable to get it to work with GBPVR. Any help out there would be appreciated.
I should mention first that this is not a DHCP or network issue. I have the router handing out DHCP addresses on both the wired and wireless interfaces of the MVP. The PC running GBPVR and the MVP device can see one another fine (ping, arp values, etc.) The problem seems to stem from the dongle file or software side.
I have tried dongle.bin and dongle.bin-3.0.24088.bin unsuccessfully. When I try gbpvr.bin it actually shows the gbpvr menus on my TV but there is a sync problem (terrible verticle rolling) that makes it unusable.
When using the regular dongle.bin or the 3.0.24088 file, here is what happens at the MVP:
Checking network status...
Configuring Wired Device (I set it to use wired for faster speed)
Checking network status...
Contacting Servers (boxes go across)
Loading Application (boxes go across)
--At this point MVP reboots (MVP Splash screen)
Loading Application (bar moves across screen)
Starting Application (bar moves across screen)
--At this point MVP reboots again and looses network setting
--Defaults back to wireless network (which is also hooked up)
Checking network status...
Configuring Wireless Device
-- so I press OK to set it back to wired networking
-- Now the whole process starts over again (goto top of the steps)
So I'm caught in an endless loop that goes nowhere.
I was hoping to leave my PC in my den and send the signal to the living room. I'm hoping that I didn't spend $150 on a doorstop (the MVP is not heavy enough for an anchor). This is all very frustrating. If anyone has any suggestions or help I would really appreciate it.
I have an STB that's connected to a PVR350 via coax. I see that since I have an STB and GBPVR needs to be set to "Fixed-Channel", I'm sort of confused as to how I'm supposed to record a show. My STB is set to channel 4 and I've chosen channel 4 as the constant channel but whatever channel I choose in the app, it will only record cable channel 4. Is there something I'm missing?:confused:
