I just got a new Wireless MVP and have been unable to get it to work with GBPVR. Any help out there would be appreciated.

I should mention first that this is not a DHCP or network issue. I have the router handing out DHCP addresses on both the wired and wireless interfaces of the MVP. The PC running GBPVR and the MVP device can see one another fine (ping, arp values, etc.) The problem seems to stem from the dongle file or software side.

I have tried dongle.bin and dongle.bin-3.0.24088.bin unsuccessfully. When I try gbpvr.bin it actually shows the gbpvr menus on my TV but there is a sync problem (terrible verticle rolling) that makes it unusable.

When using the regular dongle.bin or the 3.0.24088 file, here is what happens at the MVP:

Checking network status...
Configuring Wired Device (I set it to use wired for faster speed)
Checking network status...
Contacting Servers (boxes go across)
Loading Application (boxes go across)
--At this point MVP reboots (MVP Splash screen)
Loading Application (bar moves across screen)
Starting Application (bar moves across screen)
--At this point MVP reboots again and looses network setting
--Defaults back to wireless network (which is also hooked up)
Checking network status...
Configuring Wireless Device
-- so I press OK to set it back to wired networking
-- Now the whole process starts over again (goto top of the steps)

So I'm caught in an endless loop that goes nowhere.

GBPVR version: 97.09
MVP Info: Wireless MVP
Rev 2.05 (splash screen)
Flash level: 1.1.38
Model 86017 Rev H3

I was hoping to leave my PC in my den and send the signal to the living room. I'm hoping that I didn't spend $150 on a doorstop (the MVP is not heavy enough for an anchor). This is all very frustrating. If anyone has any suggestions or help I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,
Zork

Does it work with the Hauppauge MediaMVP software?
Have you tried using the dongle from the Hauppauge MediaMvp install?

I am having a similar problem with the new wireless mvp. I got it to work once, but after an unintended power cycle (power outage) I cannot get it to connect with any dongle.bin. All it does is continually reset.

This is not a DHCP prob. I have tried using the 2k3 dhcp, but server crash and I am using linksys router dhcp for now. Same results. The arp of the ip address assigned in the client table is correct, the wmvp is pingable.

Got it working! WooHoo!

I tried an different dongle from the Hauppage download packages. The one that works for me is version 2.5.24023b.bin. I think the b on the end means that it is a beta dongle.

I put this one in my dongle folder under the GBPVR directory and selected it in the config. Now the MVP works fine. I haven't been brave enough to try to power cycle it yet, but currently it is working.

This sounds the same as my post

"MVP repeatedly restarts. "

except that mine was for wired network.

Interesting that your revision was also H3.
I'm going to try your solution.

Where did you find a copy of 2.5.24023b.bin?
