  Net Radio problems
Posted by: compdoc - 2006-06-05, 02:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

in both the latest releases, (.7 and .9) Net Radio is having problems.

The Station: Genre: and Song: display at the bottom of the screen no longer function, and more often than not, I cant connect to any station listed in the Web listings.

How to update those listings? Or is it automatic? None of the stations seem to be working anymore...

  gbpvr 0.97.7 quirks
Posted by: Paul D. Bellamy - 2006-06-05, 01:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I recently set things up to record a program, and, after the starting time, I noticed that the G icon in my system tray was still black and white. In the past it turns green when the program is recording.

I opened GBPVR, clicked Recordings, then Pending which showed a program was recording. Next I clicked Play which gave me sound, but no picture (only a white screen).

After recording stopped, I observed that the program had been recorded OK.

After looking at some of your notes, I went to c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\plugins, and saw that only one file exists in this folder, namely, vssver.scc. Is there any need to remove that file?

Thanks for any help.

  Having problems with update
Posted by: Evangius - 2006-06-05, 11:30 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (7)

Recently I just updated my GBPVR software to the latest version. In my last the set up was very well done and I had no problems after the initial patch that was released.

I now however cannot seem to find a suitable mux filter to use. I have downloaded a number of codecs which contain the cyberlink mux but they are either not working or I am not implementing the codec the right way. I can see the Live TV on my computer but not through the mediamvp, I also apparently cannot record anything right now either.

I am using a hauppaige 150mce as my video card, and of course I am using the mediamvp. Any help on this would be appreciated.

  Geforce 7300GS or 7600GT
Posted by: stefan - 2006-06-05, 11:20 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (11)

I have found these HTPC boxes online... the only difference between them is graphics card - one has a "GeForce 7300GS", and one has "GeForce 7600GT". According to seller, both are fanless. The price difference is, however, US$140... is it worth that difference, given that I won't play any games on the computer, only run gbpvr? Big Grin
Edit: I will - at least for a while - still use the tv-out, not dvi or anything.

v 97.9 sound is lost on FFWD
Posted by: QQQ - 2006-06-05, 10:11 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

During playback if I FFWD the sound is lost. If the audio renderer is configured to use the directX audio output the sound comes back when I change to liveTV. If I have the renderer go direct to the WAVE device the sound doesn't come back. However if I go to the audio settings I see that the Wave volume has been turned down and I can just turn it up again. Is this some kind of bug where the sound is turned off for ffwd but doesn't come back on?

If I watch the same recorded TV with WINDVD I get sound during and after FFWD.

I have tried the Microsoft Audio decoder and also the Intevideo and AC3. The last two appear to actually use FFDSHOW

Thanks

  Connection Problem
Posted by: meyerjo - 2006-06-05, 10:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

1) Start automatic MVP from Hauppauge
2) Start automatic GB-PVR
my settings: GB-PVR Version 0.97.9
GB-PVR Dongle is the same as in Hauppauge MVP 3.2* Beta
Number of Server to Autostart is 1
Result: only Hauppauge screen ?!

Then :
when I stop Hauppauge - connection lost - OK
no GB-PVR ??
next I restart Start Hauppauge - connection OK - and GB-PVR ->> IS OK too !!!
then after 4 Sec Connection lost and Hauppauge Screen is back.

Is there a problem with DHCP in the older Version 0.97.07 i have not the problem
because it works fine.

  Source of mystery crashes
Posted by: Jeff - 2006-06-05, 05:33 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi Sub -

You may already know about his, but I just read the following on a blog

Quote:The great news about the .NET Framework 2.0 is that unhandled exceptions, no matter where they come from, now cause termination of the app. You also have the chance to debug the unhandled exception if you have a JIT debugger installed. If you haven't installed an AppDomain.UnhandledException delegate and you're using multiple threads in your console or Windows Forms applications, you'll definitely want to add one when you port your code to the .NET Framework 2.0 because you may have been silently losing threads all along.

Maybe this is what has been happening with the errors that people have reported that show up i nthe system event log but not the gbpvr.exe.log file. Do you have a AppDomain.UnhandledException delegate installed to catch errors from background threads? I assume a plugin with background threads (which I for one use) could be the culprit.

Update: I added a AppDomain.UnhandledException handler to the video archive plug-in to see what would happen and I found two unhandled exceptions in the commongbpvrutilities library that I had missed. I have corrected these for the next release of my plug-ins. Perhaps other plug-in writers have exceptions in background threads that were being missing in .net 1.1 as well.

  MVP, DIXV, half-screen & Trans2MVP.bat
Posted by: jbs0902 - 2006-06-05, 04:37 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

OK I give up. I am missing something obvious.

I am using an H2 series wired MVP & GB-PVR 0.97.9, NTSC 4:3.

I have 2 problems with the MVP that I cannot figure out. Although I think that if I solve issue #1, issue #2 will go away.

My Issues:
1) I cannot get Trans2MVP.bat to run naturally from the MVP. And
2) When I get my videos transcoded (w/o Trans2MVP.bat) my videos are in the top half of the screen.
All videos are non-PVR recordings. Meaning I got them some other way then having GB-PVR record them. (I have no TV tuner.)

I have attached both my config.xml & my trans2mvp.bat files. (Renamed with *.txt extensions). I got Trans2MVP.bat from this forum thread, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=15156

Reboots of the PC & MVP occur between each scenario. (Yes it has fallen to that).

Scenario #1
I delete Trans2MVP.bat. I select a Video from “Video Lib”. Trans2MVP.EXE appears to run. I see the video but on the top half of the screen.
No amount of fooling with the MVPOffset et. al fields in the config.xml seems to work.

Scenario #2:
I put Trans2MVP.BAT back in the “C:\Program Files\gbpvr\” folder. I select a Video from “Video Lib”. Trans2MVP.bat does not seem to run. I get no DOS box on the PC, or else it pops up and dies too fast. The MVP screen goes black, and then reboots.

Scenario #3:
On the PC, I move Trans2MVP.bat from the “C:\Program Files\gbpvr\” folder to the desktop. I drag-n-drop an AVI file onto the BAT file. It pops up the DOS box, and the *.MPG file is created in the same directory as the AVI file.
I go back to the MVP. I select the (as yet unfinished) MPG file from “Video Lib”. Nirvana. The video plays. It plays using the entire screen. As long as the instance of Trans2MVP.bat that I initiated on the PC keeps ahead of the MVP, everything works.

Analysis:
So, I am hoping that if I can figure out how to get Trans2MVP.bat to run naturally from the MVP my videos will magically start to play using the entire screen.
In 0.97.9, the MVP tab in Config no longer has the FFMpeg & FFShow options. I have to go into config.xml to change those.
I found somewhere in the forums that I need MVPTranscodeUsingFFmpeg = false (in XML format) in the config.xml. I have so modified my config.xml file, but no luck.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
