When you create your xml epg file does the order you specify the channels matter? i.e must it match the order of the channels as you have defined them in capture sources or does it match on channel name?
I recently installed a new hard drive in my PC that I am using for my PVR. A fresh install of WinXP Pro, GBPVR 0.97.7, etc etc. I have a Hauppauge PVR250, and use a Media MVP for my TV box. At first I couldnt even watch TV on my PC but following some tips here I have been able to rectify that issue, although its still choppy on LiveTV and Video Playback. I went from VMR9 Custom to just VMR9. I am still trying to work on getting the playback back to 96.12, but thats not my issue.
My issue now is that I cannot get my MVP and GBPVR to communicate. The MVP starts up fine, GBPVR functions on my PC fine. It seems to find the server OK, but then it goes to Loading Application screen and hangs.. Any ideas?
First of all Sub, if I put this in the wrong location please move..
Secondly.. thanks to Murdock for testing this, since he needed it...
This will help most of you out with the Failure of RenameRecording that moved on to SQLite DB... but as to if it will work with your exact environment I dont know...
its a bunch of little files that you can drop into your gbpvr folder, and use to rename the recording to Episode name.
Pretty simple, I use the command line util SQLite3 to execute a connection to the DB, and return the results... if I get them I rename the file accordingly.
Known issue, renaming a file with a espisode name "Blah Blah: blah more blah" (colon's) will fail out, ie your file will not get renamed.
There is no database change in this however it could be scripted if needed... I didnt have the time...
But I hope it helps some of you..

Installation:
Unzip to gbpvr folder...
Make small edit to "PostProcessing.bat" (same file you edited for RenameRecording)
Evening All,
I can’t get gbpvr to run after installing Base Skin, Required plugging and various utilities, Daemon tools ECT. It worked fine before using my Hauppauge 1300 MCE, Leadtec 6600gt, MSI NVIDIA nfource4 sli. Now GB-PVR starts up base skin and the entire menu appears, with all plug-in icons. These can be scrolled with the mouse and remote and selected and viewed but after about 30-40 seconds an error message appears saying the program has to close. I have tried running without base skin (changing it to blue) and turning off pluggins as well as tried lots of different configuration settings and checked all files, removed reinstall, repair install, but still have the same problem.
I think it may have something to do with the files in the main gb pvr folder, There are a lot of files not accosted with any programs - upgrade.sql.done, asyncflt.ax, bda.grf, Deinterlace.ax, empty.db3, GBPVRWriter.ax, PsiParser.ax, PSP.THM, recording-dump.xml.bak, scflt.ax, THPsiParser.ax, WSTSRTAnalog.ax, WSTSRTDigital.ax, PriorityRecordings.xsd.
There are also some associated with Microsoft access.
I really hope someone can help, this is driving me Nuts.
To follow some extracts from a couple of GBPVR log files, hears the logged errors from gbpvr.exe and
configueration.
I am looking to geting a TV tuner, but I have a problem, I am using a XPC so I only have 1 PCI slot, and that currently is going to a sound card due to I want better than what stock offered. Now that leaves me the option of Firewire or USB. I was looking at USB/Firewire tuners but hear a lot about sound and video unsynching, is there anyone here that can recomend a nice tv tuner where as maybe that doesnt happen and is only the lower quality cards. Thanks
First of all let me thank you for creating such a wonderful software, it has worked fine for me on my previous computer, I recently built a P3 HTPC and installed the latest version of GBPVR, the system detected my winpvr usb 2 and I have the latest drivers for that as well but when I go to capture source tab in GBPVR it says no capture device installed on the system, if I ignore the message and finish running the epg when I click ok it says drivers for the capture card are not installed, I have tried uninstalling the pvr driver and reinstalling it, can anyone help me?
ATI has now released their avivo compressor as a seperate download.. https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/w..._32464.exe
you don't have to install it to upgrade...almost all the functions are inside a couple of dlls...atidvcr.dll and atixcode.dll..
just extract those from the new upgrade and replace your existing ones and you'll have the new upgrade..should work for future releases as well..
[note, they say it's ONLY for ATI X1xxx cards but it works great on my Nvidia card too! lol] X1000 users will see accelerated x.264 encoding..rest is same..
they've been putting all the codecs into those files for many years now..surprised noone's noticed till now...
it is by FAR the fastest software compression available today..i can't find anything that even comes close..ffmpeg looks a bit better but avivo does it in less than half the time!
and with so many output formats available..very usefull..[psp,ipod,avi,mpeg]
there's a link on the boards here where to get the original install...then update with the dll's...
I just uploaded a new plugin. Photos. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/Photos
I wrote it before the Picture Library was included in the 97.7 release but it has some differences so I still added it. It is a very simple slideshow player. You can set the delay between pictures, make it act recursively on pause the currect slideshow. Let me know if you have any problems or suggestions.
Is there such a beast, I really want to control my reciever with the same remote, at least the simple functions, and it has to have a vfd, buying a seperate vfd costs more then buying a kit. If i bought the imon vfd kit for my mozart case, could i buy a learning remote and learn the imon + my reciever. Or is their a kit out there that will fit in my mozart vfd slot that can be learned. Or is there a case that has this all built in, i havnt actually bought the mozart yet, just its what i would like, somthing that looks just like a reciever or amp .i was looking at the ahanix v5 but it has matx power i need atx to use my current psu, or the Silverstone SST-LC16M but i have a 6800 vid card that will not fit. are there any cases out there that look like those (simple, stealth drive, vfd) that have learning remote, or remote that can be learned?
just found out that OrigenAE vfds can learn any remotes, anyone used them before, they look good
Ive looked for some post that makes the best quality and lossless recordings using these turners, but yet i havent found any
i got a couple of questions about this.
1-FileSize, the smallest file should be an XviD, right, but as i have figured it by reading in here, that is not supported, and by that i mean to RECORD in XviD, just to convert it after the recording is made, have i got this correct?
This converting is for me just timeconsuming and since i got a powersupply of 1kW... you all know what im getting at, hehe, dont really want to have it turned on just for that :p
Ive tried to do a convert to XviD without GB-PVR and its no problem for me to do that way over 50 fps(i think, maybe even more) so i dont understand why this is not supported.
2-Quality, this i know, since im using analog receivers, can be due to bad coax cables etc, but the recording is always worse than watching live tv, and i got some studdering(if that is the correct word :p) in the video sometimes too. I use an empty disk for the recordings and i do defrag kinda often, i got 2G of memory and a 2G locked pagefile.
what can i do if its possible for you to say from this.
3-Codecs, Ive read alot of ffdshow in here, that i stoped using some years ago, since it sometimes screwed the videowatch up, but since its in here alot i wonder... is THIS codec something i should use?
I'm not very into all these codec things, but ive seen posts that mention alot of different video codecs and to me it seems that GB-PVR uses multiple once, but that cant be right, can it?
here an example from a post:
* CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI)
* CyberLink Video/SP Decoder
* InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
ok, what does this mean?
i see THREE video codecs, but when i watch other things, i know i only installed ONE codec for that(except that once that are preinstalled with XP).
i cant remember what i type of settings i have in GB-PVR, since im at work right now, but if you need anything of that or other stuff, lemme know and I'll post that when i get home.
4-Upgrade, The name of the GB-PVR package i installed is GBPVR09612.msi, but it is a new out there. Can an upgrade do any of the things i just mentioned here? and it IS!! and upgrade, right? not a reinstall, so i dont have to set all channels again, I'm lazy :p
PS. Again... VERY great proggie you made here, keep it up
