Hi, I have the above hardware USB TV. The software on it is not particularly good and I read somewhere about trying Gbpvr. I have downloaded and installed this successfully, but how do I get it to recognise my Freecom hardware TV stick? Or is this not possible?
If it is possible can someone please give me some advice on how to set this up?
Having a bit of an odd problem to track down, but it seems to be a problem with GBPVR stopping the playback of a transcoded AVI file, although for what reason I am not sure (It certainly hadn't reached the end of the generated transcoded file - I was monitoring ffmpeg throughout the process, the transcode was adequately ahead of the playback position)
I've included the last bit of the log file, if that helps
If I set the file transcoding manually and play the generating mpeg file in exactly the same way GBPVR does it (Run the exact commandline GBPVR uses with ffmpeg, wait 5 seconds, and then play the generated mpg) there are no problems, so it seems to be something in the transcode handling which seems to have GBPVR telling the MVP to stop?
I'm not sure, just trying to guess from what happens, but I'd appreciate any ideas.
The program guide remains blank when I update the BLEB EPG, I have tried emptying the EPG and re-installing GB-PVR but no data seems to make it into the program guide.. anyone else having this problem?
Last night I noticed that vidoes (mpeg2) created from a DV camera, when played via the MVP, show a pulling/jumping effect (sync problem?) in the lower inch of the TV screen. Mpegs from other sources didn't show this and these problem videos displayed properly via GBPVR on the computer screen. Bit of a puzzle as I was sure I would have noticed earlier! Well, decided to look at the dongle.bin I was currently using. It was one dated 2/6/2005 so changed to one dated 22/3/2005. Problem went away. Pleased about that but it is puzzling why these dongles are different when doing a basic job.
gbmvp.bin didn't show the above problem, either.
Switched to svideo connection, too. Definitely better.
My EPG file (created by XMLTV GUI) seems to contain the relevant information and I have, seemingly, linked channels to the EPG listing in the configuration utility of GB-PVR but I cannot see the
BBC or ITV channels.
Channel 4, More, Kiss, Magic etc all seem to work. I had previously linked the source of EPG to a different destination and changed it becasue of this problem which has persisited.
The EPG is 5MB long.
Anybody else had a similar problem or understand what I have done wrong?
Hi, I'v been using GBPVR since last September and I must say I love it. My favorite part is I never have to go rent movies as I've noticed that there are tons of them on each week.
However I want a simple way to find them so I started by writing a quick perl script that searches the zapdb.mdb to sort out all the movies by Genre and email me a list of all the upcoming movies. Then once a week I'd sit down and scheduale them up to record via xsearch.
This was ok but I'm lazy and thats a lot of work. The other problem is that my TV is a projector and I don't like to start and stop it all the time, so this solution has become impracticle. Since I am mostly in my office down the hall I thout it would be cool to control GBPVR remotely so I could schedule stugg, but the Client Server setup worked however I didn't find it to be very efficient. Besides I just want one interface to handle my movie crap, so I don't need the full bore GBPVR interface.
Heres the goal I want to code some client software for this system of yours, that will allow me to schedule movies from it. Including a movie search, a movie watch list, grabbing movie info from IMDB and stuff. However I'm not sure if I need to use the GBPVR.dll to schedule a recording or if I can just access the database myself an add a recording.
As well I've yet to come to an understanding as to how you resolve which tuner to use.
Sorry for being longwinded. Any insightwould be helpful, I plan to use VS.Net.
I enabled it in the config program, but on my MVP remote I can't see anyway of turning the function on or off. Isn't it true that the CC signal is embedded in a subcarrier of the NTSC signal. On a normal tv you are just switching on a portion in the receiver that decodes the subcarrier. On GBPVR however, I thought if the Box was checked for CC in the config app that it would capture it into the recording and then all you had to do is toggle a switch on the remote or the desktop running GBPVR to make closed captioning show up or disappear. Obviously I am mistaken because that doesn't work.
Thanks for any help.
