Around three months ago, I tossed my ATI TV Wonder and went 2 x PVR-150 cards.
I walked in and bought both card at the same time, from the same store.
I have always had issues with one card "tuning in" the cable channels (had to enter them manually using Mhz), but using S-Video from a DCT-2224 worked perfect.
The other card was perfect in both.
Three months later and alot of headaches since, I decide to reformat and take the cards out so that I try seating them in different PCI slots.
I noticed that the two cards are NOT the same:
-----------------------
Card #1
This card is the one that gave me the issues above with Cable in, ok with DCT:
26032 Rev C199 (Built in 2005)
MPEG II Chip: 0511Y1D2 (0512 Taiwan)
Chip to left of above (??): ESMT
-----------------------
Card #2
Card works perfectly with both cable and DCT:
26032 Rev C182 (Built in 2002)
MPEG II Chip: 0448Y1C5 (0448 Taiwan)
Chip to left of above (??): cCsi
-----------------------
OK, my questions are:
Why does the older card seem to work better?
Should i be using a different driver for one and a different one for another?
Should I just go buy a 3rd card, open the box, match it with what I have and return the other unmatched one?
If I was going to keep one just one and get a second card from a different brand (to get my IR Blaster working, see other thread), which should I keep, the newer rev C199 or the older C182?
If you guys could help me out here, I would so appreciate it.
New install on friend's setup went OK for an hour or two then after a mvp lockup the TV now shows a shadowed image offset vertically above the main image. This occurs with the menu screen as well as content screens. The computer display is perfect. We have re-booted everything and plugged the mvp directly into the TV (was into an A/V rcvr) but it is still crook. Anybody seen this sort of thing before? Sort of points to wrong timing signals from the mvp? Unlikely to be a dodgy ethernet cable as it was OK for a while. Tomorrow we are going to swap in my mvp to check that item out but if anyone has any ideas they would be welcome. TIA.
I have noticed behavious in all lists when deleting from lists (pending recordings, recordings) and the program returns to the list it always goes to the top of the list, not in the same location (-1) of where I was. When maintaining a long list of pending recordings or my recordings this can pose a difficult challenge to scroll back to the previous location and resume my inspection of the lists.
I was wondering if it would be possible to have comskip not run for certain channels (ie. movie channels), or possibly when scheduling the recirding event. It erroniously detects comercials in movies. At present I just go back into the recording directory and delete the comskip output.
Sadly, this one seems to be on the bottom of pretty much everyone's privity list even the commercial products. I fear that in the end, I'll be forced into MCE.
It would be very cool if the user could define the level of priority/interest of a particular program via the web interface or gui recording interface. The level could range for 0 to 99 with 0 being the least important and 99 being the most important. This priority level would be compared to any other program's priority level that may be scheduled to begin recording at the same timeslot and causes a conflict due to not enough tuners available. The program with the highest priority would be recorded and the other program would be recorded at another time if another showing will occur in the future.
Similarly, but much less important, it would be nice to be able to rank the tuners in order of importance. I have standard cable and DirecTV. I would much prefer to record the program on DirecTV over cable if that program is playing on both providers. I have several channels that are duplicated between the two.
First off, let me say how nice this program really is. I'm seriously thinking about dumping my current Tivo solution to go with this program.
There's just one problem that I can see. I try to watch Live TV, but when I pause it, it gives me the message that it's starting timeshift mode, and to wait. Then it dumps me out to the menu. I found that I had live preview enabled, so I unchecked it and tried again. Now when I select Live TV, all I get is the Timeshift mode screen. I can return to Live Preview, and it works, but I would like the ability to timeshift Live TV if possible. I had ffdshow installed, and read about the possibility that I needed a muxer, so I downloaded CyberDVD and changed all the video settings to use that while uninstalling ffdshow, and it didn't work. I've attached my log files.
BTW, recordings work with no problem, and I can even start a recording a join it fine. It's just the LiveTV button that gives me a problem.
Ok this is a bit freakish.
It looks like my Hauppauge 150's cable tuner audio is toast as well as its IR module.
Anyone experience such a thing?
Here's more details:
So far the setup has been adequate with cable going in along with S-Video from the comcast recvr (for the dig channels).
Yesterday, my remote stopped working. I restarted the IR, and it said "IR hardware not found" (or something very similar).
I have since:
1. Reseated the PCI card a couple of times
2. Reloaded all the hauppauge drivers, that's when I noticed I'd lost audio from Cable input, the aux audio for s-video is still working.
3. Used the HWClear (the hauppauge utility)
4. Reloaded all the drivers and software again
5. Tried the WinTV2000 to see if the tuner catches audio - failed
So from the looks of it I'm kind or toast. Some more questions:
1. If I were to purchase my next tuner card (guessing hauppauge's not going to fix my current one), what would be a good card? ATI wonder Elite seems appealing however it doesnt have an IR Blaster in the package.
2. As a better and well rounded solution is USB UIRT the way to go as far as remotes go? instead of stuff like the hauppauge's 150? I haven't come across a good feature comparison.
