  A-B Switching network problems
Posted by: hypergoat - 2006-04-11, 10:45 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I would like to begin by extending a massive thank-you to everyone that has made GBPVR possible; I've used it for over a year, and it's a fantastic program. I recently moved to Roxbury, MA and discovered that after bypassing the cable box, that any channels above 20 no longer work. I contacted Comcast about this issue, and it appears that it is because of the aging cable transmission system uses what they described as a 'A-B Switching Network'. Does anyone here know of any solutions, be they hardware or software, of allowing my capture card to correctly view all my channels and still have the ability to change them (essentially bypassing the cable box). I've looked around the internet trying to find some information, but I don't really know enough about cable systems and transmission standards to know what to look for.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

  Upside down image
Posted by: Alfred - 2006-04-11, 09:36 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I've seen some errors with TV-cards but this one is new to me...
After installing GBPVR and the drivers to get my non-hardware MPG card working, I was pleased to see that the card war working, but somehow the image in LiveTV is upside-down as well as mirrorred.

Perhaps this has occurred before? Does anyone know how to get the picture right-side-up and unmirrorred? Thanks, regards, Alfred, Amstelveen NL

  Incorrect channels
Posted by: klunde - 2006-04-11, 09:09 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I'm having a confusing problem with my GBPVR. I have a Hauppauge PVR-500 card and have configured both to have the same channel list. I've checked and doublechecked that the channel numbers are correct but when I run GBPVR and uses Live-TV I get the wrong channel for the three first channels. The EPG info references the correct channel, but the tuner is tuned to another channel.

I've also checked inside the mdb file and everything there as well seems to be mapped to the correct channels.

Any ideas?

I'm running XP and GBPVR 0.96.12

Sync problem on DVDs burned from GB-PVR recordings
Posted by: paperboy_bert - 2006-04-11, 08:41 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I have used GB-PVR to record several shows using my Freecom DVB USB Stick (actually it's a clone sold by Maplin).

The recordings all play back fine in GB-PVR, but burn them onto a DVD and the lip-sync goes to pot.

Is this a demuxing problem? Which setting should I use? I have the SS demo loaded. BDA Multiplexer is set to SS (I also have InterVideo, CyberLink, Microsoft DVR-MS and Transport Stream as options).

I'm completely baffled - can anyone help?

Bert

  DeviceTypeCheck error with 2 devices
Posted by: Krux100 - 2006-04-11, 02:51 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I hope someone here can help me decipher what is going on. I am trying to use a PVR-150 PCI card and a Wintv PVR2 usb at the same time without much success under winxp sp2. Here is the content of DeviceTypeCheck.exe-native.log after a fresh reboot:

22:28:59.953 INFO Log started
22:28:59.953 VERBOSE ECP interface found

22:28:59.953 INFO Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture: model 26132
22:28:59.953 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
22:28:59.953 ERROR Failed to find requested device: Hauppauge PVR150 (instance 2)

So without this info I can not set the capture device # properly. I do not have any of the Hauppauge software loaded, just the basic drivers for both devices. I installed the 150 first and then the PVR2. What I am after is to be able to record on one device while watching on the other. Is this even possible with this set up? I can dual boot XP MCE 2005 if I Absolutley have to.
Any and all help is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Black Scrren - No Sound Only On One Tunner
Posted by: UncleJohnsBand - 2006-04-11, 02:10 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Ok...still having a problem with 3 shows at once....it appears that if I try to record from the PVR150 I just get a black screen when the 1st tuner in PVR500 is recoding.

I had thought that the pecking order was that recordings work from the top tuner in the list of tuners to the bottom and that live tv requests work from the bottom tunner to the top tunner....thus minimizing conflicts.

My tuner list is:
PVR500 #1
PVR500 #2
PVR150

I had a show recording on PVR500#1. Then a scheduled show comes up and starts recording on the PVR150....and everything is black with no sound.

I played around with trying to get the show to record on the PVR500#2 but every time I scheduled it it kept coming up on the PVR150.

So then I thought I would record something else (since I assumed it would take the PVR150 slot) and then record what I wanted to record....thinking that it would record to the PVR500#2.....wrong.

The next thing I scheduled went straight to the PVR500#2....leaving me with only the PVR150 open.

As you can see by my logs below....

The ten commandments was scheduled on the PVR150...so I canceled it. I then scheduled the Lynn Doyle show thinking it would go to the PVR150....but it went to the PVR500#2 (which is probably correct based off of my understanding of recording assignments). Then I canceled it and tried rescheduling the 10 commandments and again it went to the PVR150.

sub....do you see anything wierd happening here....why would the one recording (ten commandemnts) always try to schedule to the PVR150 when the PVR500#2 tunner is a available?

  xrecord - no longer working!!!
Posted by: agidius - 2006-04-11, 01:49 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

I was doing fine, and was enjoying this program greatly.

until this evening.

I loaded xrecord to keep track of what I had already seen, and the first few recordings from it worked just fine.

but then it would record the shows, then not list them in the ready list.
if I choose videos, it finds them, but there is no description of show or anything.

also, now the filenames have the name of the show in them.

is there a way to make this work again??

  can't change video library
Posted by: 4zm4r3d02 - 2006-04-11, 01:10 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

I'm trying to make adjustments to the video library screen, and am having some difficulties. First, I can't figure out how to change the number of files listed. I seem to recall doing this before, but now there no longer seems to be a setting for this.

Also, when I make changes to the skin.xml in the video library folder for the skin I'm using, and then restart the recording service, there are no changes. In fact, as a test, I stopped the recording service, renamed the skin.xml file to skin.xml.old, and then restarted. Instead of getting an error, the video library screen looked just the same as before. I thought it might be falling back to the video library skin.xml in the Blue collection, so I renamed that one, and there was still no change.

I am using gbpvr version 0.96.12, and The Collection skin.

-------------------
After I first posted this, I went back to experiment some more. After stopping and starting the recording service a few more times, it went wacky, and kept starting and stopping by itself every few seconds. I rebooted, and when I started the GBPVR app and tried to enter the video library screen, it now said it couldn't find the skin.xml file(that I had renamed skin.xml.old).

Apparently, I am at a much lower point on the learning curve than I thought I was, and it is looking a lot steeper than before.
