Since I installed 96.12, the date format in GBPVR changed from dd-mm-yyyy to mm-dd-yyyy. The settings on the Windows host in the Control panel have not changed. How can I get the date format back to dd-mm-yyyy?
I am trying to use transcode on the xdvd plugin and am having issues.
I decrpyt the DVD using DVD decrypter into a single IFO file and then am trying to use the xdvd plugin in to convert it to mpeg format to view over my media mvp.
On smaller sized DVD's it works great like kid shows or cartoon DVD's.
The problem I am having is larger movies like Walk the Line or Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
the decoding goes fine and then xdvd starts to decode it and everything looks great except when the mpeg file size reaches 2.3 gig the PF Usage starts creeping from around 500 mb to 3 gig and I get a VLC.exe error and it quits. The mpeg file size stops around 2.5 gig.
The quality of the part that was converted is excellent but it just can't transcode the whole movie without PF usage creeping up to 3 gig and erroring out.
I am sure I am doing something wrong but am not sure. Any help would be appreciated.
Disclaimer: I searched the forums, and havent seen any "official" request for a plugin of this nature, so here goes:
So i guess now i am officially "on the bandwagon" with podcasting, and have been listening to several on a weekly basis for a while now. I use juice as my client, and seeing as how it is opensource, it seems feasible that someone with some coding foo could integrate it into a plugin for our favorite pvr software.
It also seems that this type of interface wouldnt blow up the MVP, which is good as that is one of the things that sets gbpvr above other projects.
Let me preface this by saying I do not have MS Access installed so I haven't been able to look at the database to explorer whether what I am asking is available or not.
Zap2it provides information on most programs including it's 'Original Air Date' (or perhaps it's called 'First Aired Date') and it will also show the program is a 'Rerun' (or perhaps 'Repeat'). If this data is in the database, can it be included in the show description in the gui as well as the web interface?
I have recently purchased an RCA universal learning remote to replace my TV, VCR (hardly used since building PVR of course!), A/V component, and Hauppauge remotes.
The remote operates beautifully when controlling any device for which the remote is capable of using a pre-programmed manufacturer code.
Arguably Hauppauge remotes are not the most abundant in the world, so I was pleased to be able to use the learning feature of the remote to reproduce the Hauppauge commands.
However I have found that, comparing the Hauppauge 45-button remote that came with my PVR 250, there is a noticeable delay on the universal remote between button press and the device's response resumably while the remote looks up the learned command.
The solution I am thinking about is to purchase a USB UIRT and train it on one of the native (not trained/learned) command sets in the remote. Given that speed is of the essence, I am wondering if anyone who uses one can verify it is exactly as fast as a native Hauppauge remote with the remote sensor plugged into the back of the PVR 250 card.
(Or if anyone has a better recommendation of course.)
I have just installed a WinTV Nova-T card in my XP machine and it appears to work with the Hauppauge software, although on occasion the picture quality is very jerky.
I have then I believe installed .NET 1.1 and DirectX 9.0. Then GBPVR and I get a .NET exception error 0x800401F9. Messages on the Internet suggest a MDAC error but this is more related to W2K than XP.
So I checked if .NET had installed correctly and saw it had no record of Mb in the Add/Remove programs. Uninstalled and reinstalled. It showed to be about 20Mb, I seem to recall. Then dutifully applied the update SP1 and it grew to 617MB. Bloatware or what.
I reloaded GBPVR and still get the same error. Not being too techy this is getting a little deep for me.

if you need to make dvd-author dvd compatible files and are having audio sync problems or anything else, try this...
saves a step as it demux/adds dvd nav packets/muxes all in one step!!
[not to mention mucho gigs drive space!}
not sure on comparison completion times but it seems much faster..i get around 300fps [it's only de/muxing]
i've burned several files with dvd-author and they work great...
ffmpeg also can convert them same way...
i thought maybe myvideos dvd-burning could benefit alot...
[note: telecine and tsaf may not be needed but won't hurt being there]
also can keep .mpg extension if wanted...
to use ffmpeg just do a 'copy' for both codecs and make output format dvd or ntsc-dvd or pal-dvd [as applicable]
it Will insert dvd nav packets where appropriate without re-compression..
let me know if it works for you..
Anyone know how I can play .m4v (H.264) files? I have the Quicktime Alternative player and the VLC player installed, and I can manually open the files in VLC and play them file, but GBPVR doesn't seem to "see" the files when I look in the recordings folder they are sitting in.
