  Vertical Bars
Posted by: antonylord - 2006-04-08, 07:13 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

My system uses a MSI ATI Radeon RX9200SE video card driving my analogue TV (not widescreen) via a S-Video cable.

It seems I have very faint vertical bars - they're wide and move slowly horizontally. They're especially noticeable on dark backgrounds.

I've tried different cables, moving things about, using the same power outlet all without luck - the whole system is on a power filter too.

Is this just noise from the PC power supply? How do I solve this?

Now to silence that machine!

Cheers, Antony.

Help me pick a new card...
Posted by: antonylord - 2006-04-08, 07:08 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

To finally get GBPVR happening for me (I've only been using a WinFast TV 2000 XP card and its associated software to date) I need a REAL card (I'm not sure I'm game to try software encoding with this card / my CPU horsepower).

My system : PIII 933Mhz, MSI ATI Radeon 9200SE, with plenty of RAM, HD space etc.
My A/V system : 100cm CRT TV (not widescreen) & surround sound system
My source : free to air SD or HD TV (no cable or satellite) [I currently use a SD STB]

The cards around me are the DViCO or Hauppauge stuff.
http://www.ht.com.au/scripts/xworks.exe?CAT:AV4
(Those prices are in Australian Dollars)

Any recommendations at this point? Obviously my TV isn't HD capable.
Is going a HD card overkill?

Your input would be warmly welcomed!

Cheers, Antony.

  Problems!
Posted by: 003 - 2006-04-08, 04:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Ok, so I downloaded gb-pvr, and I installed it and it appeared to go ok. But when I tried to start it, it simply would not start, no error or anything. I have an ATI 550Pro tuner, and windows xp pro sp2. I had the .net framework 2.0 installed prior to installation. I tried restarting the PC to see if it would help, and here is where it really started to go wrong. When I got into windows, I got an error that said the gb-pvr tray encountered problems and needed to close. So I go into the program folder and try starting gb-pvr again, still no go. I then tried starting the config program (which did not start after the install btw), and I got an error that it encountered problems and needed to close. The only thing that worked was the channel tuner, which was a little scary, because it says I need to write down each frequency for each channel and enter it in gb-pvr for the channel to work. That would be very time consuming and boring, do I really need to do that? It seems to not be going well at all for me, please help.

  GeexBox

http://geexbox.org/en/index.html

I was having problems getting GBPVR to play nice on an old system.
no-go.
It just didn't have the chops.
Then I found this.
The hardware requirements are crazy low.
It's built around MPlayer.
I've been playing with it & it seems play just about everything real smooth even over a lan.

I'm wondering if since it's Linux & linux & perl go together so nicely if the Access Perl module could be used to read episode info from a gbpvr server?
It probably won't ever be as pretty as an MVP, but it'll play mp4 & DVD's on a low power p3.

  PVR wakes up for nothing
Posted by: fla - 2006-04-08, 01:53 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I had programmed 2 recurring shows to record at 5:00-5:30PM and from 6:00-6:30PM and the pvr would wake up at 5PM, record, hibernate, wake up at 6PM, record, hibernate perfectly.

A week later I deleted the scheduled recordings but the pvr still wakes up, at 5PM, hibernates after ~15 min, wakes up at 6PM, hibernates after ~15 min.

The main screen shows "None Scheduled" and nothing records after both wake ups. Where are the scheduled tasks stored? I don't see them in the Windows task scheduler. There have been several recording service restarts and pvr reboots since then so how are the 5PM and 6PM wake ups remembered?

BTW I'm using the XRecord plugin (if it matters... isn't the recording service the one responsible for the waking up part).

I have GBPVR installed on a fresh Win XP Pro installation with a Hauppauge 150 installed. I can launch GBPVR, see the TV listings but when I click Live TV the computer restarts. Any idea? Thanks!

  NetRadio Problem.
Posted by: Spartan - 2006-04-08, 12:46 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I was viewing pictures (w/ My Pictures) and listening to NetRadio. Then, the MVP went back to bluescreen (restart), I was unable to connect to anymore net radio stations, and this was in the log:

To listen to netradio, I had to restart gbpvr completely on the server.

  can't install GBpvr
Posted by: ChrisUW - 2006-04-07, 11:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I'm trying to install the latest version of GBPVR but I keep coming up with two errors. One says the following:
Internal Error 2908
{A31FFC4C-7A78-4B48-B816-571BE429ECB9}

The other error is this:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly
'wmppia, Version="9.0.0.3095",Culture="neutral",PublicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35",GUID="6bf52a50-394a-11d3-b153-00c04f79faa6", Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80131047.

I'd appreciate any help getting it up and running.

Thanks,
Chris

OK, I just installed this last night and I've been searching since. All I get is the hourglass spinning at the top, nothing else shows up. I don't see anything else obvious in the config settings, so anybody have any ideas?

Also, the second program listed in the required programs for DVD listing has a broken link and I didn't see any of the other programs that are said to be included with this plug in. (for downloading graphics and such)

Thanks for any help.
