What resolution do you use ?
Posted by: MixMan - 2006-02-28, 07:27 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - No Replies

I think I am pretty satiesfied with with the SharperEdge skins XML files now.
So I am about to make this skin "sharper"
I will redo all XMLs for a higher resolution so the presentation on "high resolution" monitors will give a sharper image and much better font quality.

I dont know that resolution i shall have as a target. New plasmas have a 1024x768 native resolution. Old plasmas have a 848x480 native resolution. But what I don't know is, what resolution you use in the living room. Help me finding out.

This will be a massive work, to adjust all X and Y values manually, so I better get it right from the beginning. I will only do it once, skin file by skin file.

I'm thinking of a 1024x768 skin with a bunch of theme designs

Resolution- Aspect Ratio Factors
720x480 - 1.5 (TV NTSC)
720x576 - 1.25 (TV PAL)
800x600 - 1.33 (Old monitor)
848x480 - 1.77 (Plasma)
1024x768 - 1.33 (Standard monitor)
1280x720 - 1.77 (HDTV 720p resolution)
1280x768 - 1.67
1280x1024 - 1.25
1360x768 - 1.77 (LCD-TV monitor)
1920x1080 - 1.77 (HDTV 1080p resolution)

Great new version, Two tiny, tiny little issues
Posted by: pwborders - 2006-02-28, 07:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Just wanted to say great work on the new version. Installed it and had no issues to speak of really. Really like the faster response in the recordings submenu. Time to send another donation to keep things going. Big Grin

My one tiny issue is with the new system submenu. I like it and it works great but the pie chart is a little off. First problem was that darkblue on blue is not very different on my tv's. It is an obvious but very slight difference. So I edited the skin file to go with green for free space and red for used and it looked great. I also changed the little blocks in the legend for the pie chart and thats the rub. You have Totalspace and Usedspace but Totalspace on the pis chart is actually Freespace. So what I was hoping for is a @FreespaceGB variable like the @TotalspaceGB and @UsedspaceGb variables. Then the pie chart would be correctly labeled.

I told you it was a tiny, tiny issue. Rolleyes

The other one is really even smaller. I had my first time conflict while putting a recording in the TV guide. Thats when I noticed that it was a different color, a very slightly different color that looked like a rather odd orange on my TV. Is there any way to change that color in the skin somewhere. I admit I haven't looked very hard yet. Yellow or something else bright would probably be better. Of course I probably wouldn't have used red for good recordings in the first place but thats just me. Wink

Otherwise great work and thanks for bumping the number of captures sources up. Now I have a fourth PVR500MCE and one tuner on it is my seventh GB-PVR capture source and the other is running MyTinyTV (www.mytinytv.com) which is very nice and makes ORB look really bad. It also coexists with GB-PVR very well.

tunning assistant "white snow" and changing channels
Posted by: kellis - 2006-02-28, 06:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Hello,
1st, this app is GREAT!
Awesome job, very impressed.

Have: winxp + PVR 350 card.

Now the bad part, it used to work, but channel 2 wouldn't show, (always snow), so i fiddled with the channels, then none of the channel in gbpvr would work.

I uninstalled everything, and reinstalled, same thing.
WinTV2k works perfect, it's channel selector works fine, all is good with the hauppauge software.

I removed all the channels, re-added them, used epg etc.
The tunning assistant (US region, cable select) is showing snow. (static).

Now the channels seem to be working in gbpvr, but tunning assistant is worthless at this point, so i won't use that for now until i understand what's wrong. (again other apps work)
I rebooted the machine several times, reinstalled card drivers (latest from the ftp site (the one recommended here, latest drivers from Dec 2005 i think hcw2_2_0_35_23258_pp2).
I reinstalled directX (just to make sure) and i reinstalled the hcwsmd05.exe.

For grits and giggles I tried using the tunning assistant using a different country and it recognized more channels (wrong, but at least it probed the freqs and did something other than white snow).

Now, 1 thing is concerning me, in GBPVR, if i use the keyboard arrow (up and down), it used to change channels, (live TV), now, it switches but stay on the same channel. Same thing if i select a different channel and click on Watch, it will not change the channel. Very weird.
Mind you, it used to work!

I tried to use the freqcopy, but no avail. same result.
I am running out of option. What can be wrong?
(PS: when i uninstalled, i used the cleaner also, and i made sure to re-register).

Any idea?
The logs dont show much, here's a copy (clean log and tried to change the channel 2 or 3 times using the keyboard arrows then exit).

(logs here:

http://coazter.com/studio/gbpvr.exe-native.log
http://coazter.com/studio/gbpvr.exe.log

)

Thank you!!

  New XML tags in GBPVR
Posted by: MixMan - 2006-02-28, 06:35 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

I will keep this thread updated, for XML skinners to notice.
Here are my findings, so far, that I updated SharperEdge with.
It is the Original Blue "tags" I have just adjusted some tags for graphical images.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Request of "Elements" to be skinnable
There are 2 thing I would like Sub to make more skinnable in the Recording xml
.....or have I just missed the tags ?

The Recordings, Manual popup screen.
Possibility to move selectabe items to the right, so the "tags", like Channel:, Date:, Name:, Prefix: ... could be longer.

The Conflict popup does not seem to be skinnable.

Volume OSD plugin - New Version!
Posted by: McBainUK - 2006-02-28, 06:15 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (11)

Have just uploaded Volume OSD v1.1 (beta) to the wiki.

Changes

  • Possibly fixed the reported 'flickering OSD' problem (needs testing with different setups to be sure).
  • Added a test/setup facility. (Select Volume from the Main Menu).
  • Last thing I have added is more logging - this will make it easier to troubleshoot when people have problems.
Keen to hear any feedback. Support/feedback thread here.

ps. The new version requires GBPVRUIElements (v3.5+).

For Sale: Silverstone LASCALA LC11S-M case
Posted by: limiter - 2006-02-28, 05:54 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I finished building my basic HTPC and now that I have completed it I want more (of course). Basically I want a bigger case for more cards. To avoid my wife killing me for buying more computer "crap" I must sell my sliver Silverstone LASCALA SST-LC11S-M case.

Comes with AGP and PCI riser card, remote and VFD display that shipped with the case. Also comes with the fans, power supply, and everything else it originally shipped with (except the box). NewEgg has pictures and info here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6811163045

Sliverstone has pictures and info here:

http://silverstonetek.com/products-lc11m.htm

The case is in great condition, only 4 months old. I will post pictures later today when I get home.

I want $150 + actual shipping costs or a good offer. I live in the U.S., Michigan.

Few things you should know before considering this case:
1. It takes a maximum of 2 PCI cards (it does not require low-profile cards), and 1 AGP video card.
2. Please read the Silverstone site for Motherboard requirements (motherboard must have AGP followed directly by PCI, you can't have any slots in front of the AGP slot).
3. If you use Serial ATA you must use L-shaped cables for them to fit in the case.
4. There is not a lot of room between the AGP slot and the next PCI slot. You should use a video card without a fan.
5. Silverstone does sell a PCI Express riser card.

I can try to answer any questions you might have about the operation, setup, etc.

Thanks!

  No icons in the menus
Posted by: MixMan - 2006-02-28, 05:49 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (1)

Some plugins does are not returning an icon to GBPVR when requested (returning 'null' instead)....according to Sub

This will result that icons (task.png) might not show up in a horizontal menu like Olbia or a vertical like SharperEdge

I would like someone with programming skills to update these plugins.

  Custom time recording
Posted by: ErikW - 2006-02-28, 04:44 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I would like to schedule recording of part of a program.

For instance the danish morning tv is in the EPG listed as one long 2 hour program but there is typically some children sections at a given time within this EPG entry.

I have not found a way to program the recording with input of channel and time interval.

? Is this possible ?

It probably is, but i have not be able to find it.
