I just recently got my system up and running, and everything seems to be working correctly except for the audio. I've got a SoundBlaster Audigy LS sound card and I want to output on a Yamaha receiver with digital coax input.
The soundcard has SPDIF output (digital) as a miniplug and the receiver has digital coax input as an RCA. I bought a mono miniplug cord and a mono miniplug to mono RCA converter. When I run the diagnostic tools on headphone output I can hear stereo sound (left/right) but when I run the 5.1 setup I can only hear front right/left.
My first question is if this is the correct hardware to get the digital signal from the soundcard to the receiver for dolby digital audio? I think something's working right because I am getting sound from an output/input that is digital and not analog. However, my receiver usually displays the mode its in (pro logic/digital/dts) and its only displaying pro logic, so I assume I'm not getting the 5.1 signal.
Second, my hardware didn't come with any OEM software so I'm using the microsoft DVD codecs. I've been hearing quite a bit about the audio codecs necessary for 5.1/DTS. Do I need an audio codec to get the audio from the DVD correctly? I have read mention of nVidia pure video decoder and ffdshow. I'm not quite sure what the difference is.
It would be great if you screwed up an XML file, that instead of just not starting, GBPVR could throw up an error message something like, "Error in main menu/skin.xml". I know, nobody should be messing with the XML files in the real directory, or without making a backup copy, but believe me, it can happen by accident, especially at 2am...
This was accidential, but I was watching a show I had paused at some point, and it was already into the next show in real-time. Instead of hitting stop I hit record, so I knew I would have to do in and delete the show it just saved accidentially.
What I found was instead of saving all of the show I was watching in TS (the way hitting record while watching in TS does), it saved the file for the show that had started next.
This could have been a one time bug, or just a hole in the code where it just grabs the current file time-wise, and not the active one you're watching.
This would be when you're watching one channel in TS, and a new program starts. I've found that you can't rewind into the "old" TS file to see something that happened in the last few seconds of the show that just ended.
It may make TS work more the way you would expect it to (and less like a series of recordings) if GB kept the previous show and let you access it during the new one. This would just be when watching the same channel continiously.
This would mean keeping one extra file, but I don't think it would be a big space issue (anyone w/ that little space left is already in trouble).
For the first programme, it's using both tuners to account for the pre and post padding but then when it comes to record the other two consecutive programmes on the other channel, one of the tuners is still busy so can't handle this.
I know i'm not the first to encounter this so what's the best way to automatically record both consecutive shows on the both channels? Ideally a little more logic in gbpvr would solve this but I accept that this isn't there right now. Even to show in the conflicts screen which tuner will be used would allow the user to shift the tuner so that effectively I could set one channel to use in my case, tuner oid 4 for one pair of shows and tuner oid 6 for the other 2 on the other channel.
I suppose I can do this directly in the database too but i'm sure someone has a better way?
Is this normal, I just got the FM tuner to work, I was listening without my knowing, a recording was initiated. When I watched the recording, video was ok but the audio portion was the FM station I was listening to earlier
I noticed that, when I move the cursor in the TV Guide left or right, the selected show will first just get a darker frame and the after a second move will get green.
Having recently installed driver updates for my PVR150 to get rid of the audio issue with the Line In port I've managed to break video and line in play back on the MVP.
Its unlikely this is a GBPVR issue as the Hauppauge software causes problems also. I have ridiculous stuttering during video play back and the Hauppauge software won't even play my WMA music now.
This is possibly a codec issue I guess but I don't know alot about that so I'm planning a full uninstall of all drivers and software tonight in an attempt to fix the problem.
I was just wondering if there was any recommended driver version for the MVP service to work with GBPVR?
I'm so disillusioned with Hauppauge right now, they appear to be utterly incompetent - I've now found that the IR blaster won't work with the most common UK STB - a standard Pace Skybox! I'm aware that GBPVR interacts with the IR Blaster - how does it do this? What part is reliant on the Hauppauge software? Any tips? :=:confused:

I have enclosed the errors below, i have set the time slice to 30 min, now ok. Set to 15 mins, seems ok. I will monitor, i would like to set it to 5 mins ideally.
