I keep getting an error saying "Error: No connection can be made because the target machine actively refused it" What does this mean and how can I fix it? Thanks

Hello All - Just wanted to share with some of you looking for a cheap system to run GBPVR.

I've discovered the joy of using OCed Mobile Celeron's to build fast cheap PVR systems that also run cool and quiet.

These chips are OC'ng wonders. I currently have three systems running the combo of cheap (under $30) mobos running Mobicels (also under $30). The Mobicel runs natively with 100 MHz FSB, 256K cache (as opposed to equivalent Northwood Celly's 128K) and 1.3 Watts.

My systems are:

Albatron 845PEV Pro w/2.4 Mobicel a@ 3.36 GHz (140 MHz FSB) (40% OC)
QDI 845pe based mobo w/1.7 Mobicel @2.83 GHz (166 MHz FSB) (66% OC)
Asus SIS 661 based mobo w/1.6 Mobicel @3.2 GHz (100% OC) (200 MHz FSB)
This CPU cost me 8 bucks plus $3.00 shipping

Poor and Cheap

So I have a Sony projector on the other side of my room, and I want to hook my videocard (an MSI 6600GT) up to it. I'm probably going to need a 25ft cable, and I'm debating between going VGA or S-Video. The cost difference between these two cables is minimal on Newegg. I use the DVI connection for my monitor, so my VGA port is free. My main concern is with signal loss. VGA is analog, which is probably going to mean greater signal loss, but on the other hand, it carries the signal over more transmission lines. S-Video is digital, but I've heard that S-video cables are more prone to having connection problems as in the cable falls out of its socket. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Just rebuilt my desktop and got GBPVR all setup. Pretty painless the second time around. It worked great for the first day and then all of a sudden it records but I can't watch the video files.

GBPVR indicates that the video file is ready to play but it won't play, and the file is 0 bytes in size.

Any ideas whats up?

Wow this is a new one for me. I did not move my recording directory, or change anything in GBPVR, but I did add a new drive, and made a video folder/archive on it.
After that, GBPVR tells me I have no pending recordings (hey, I had 70!) and it forgot about half of the shows it had recorded.

Panic!

The files were still there of course, just GBPVR forgot all about them in its database.

I recovered 80% of the descriptions using the xml embedded in the header thing, but 20-30 recordings had no xml in them...

Anyway, any idea why that might happen? Any chance a small xml file with the show info could be written to the recording folder along with the file?

I'm currently developing a plugin for controlling X10 devices, and I have a question. The user will be able to setup as many devices as they wish using the GBPVR Config program. For each device the user will have to specify a name, house code, and unit code. Where is the best place to store this data? Should I have my own XML configuration file for the plugin? What method does GBPVR plugin developers usually use? Thanks...

Whenever I pause, use the guide, or enter channel numbers (when full osd mode is on) with the media mvp, the semi-transparent overlay briefly covers the entire picture before reverting to covering only the area that it should. When changing channels in full OSD mode, it stays this way until the channel change is complete, making it either impossible or undesirable to have the numbers I'm entering show up on the screen. Is there any fix or workaround for this problem? If not, is there any way to simply disable all picture overlays in mvp mode?

Ok, Personally I hate Dlink as a brand.

However, has anythought been giving on supporting this thing?

I don't know what i'm asking here, but the MVP1000 is getting a little hard to come by, and it's a few years old.

I am having some problems with the istall and want to uninstall so there is no trace and then re-install. Whats the best way to clean EVERYTHING off. Add/Remove programs in the COntrol panel isn't doing it. When I re-install its showing 3 video cards (I only have two) and its giving me an error about reading the recording when I try to watch live TV. Can you help please?

I'm running a Digimatrix HTPC, and have gotten just about everything working, except DVD Play back.

It plays the video ok, but only in stereo. This is hooked up to my SP/DIF optical port.

Now, if I play the same video in power dvd, I get full surround.

I've tried changing the dvd play back options, and still only get stereo.

My options
Video Decoder: Default, Intervideo decoder, and Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder
AudioDecoder: Default, AC3Filter, MPEG AUdio Decoder, Cyberlink, and Intervideo decoders,
Audio Renderer: Default, Soundmax Digital Audio, Default Direct sound device, Default Waveout device, and Directsound: Soundmax Digital Audio

I'm at a loss why I can't get surround working.
