In the past I've described a problem where the random slide show does not work with the MVP. I've keep playing with it because my family really likes the feature. Sometimes it would work and sometime it would not work.
Recently I've figured out that if I play music using MyMusic and then start the random slide show there is no problem. Random slide show works like a champ. However, if I try to play the random slide show and use either no music or NetRadio only the first picture is displayed. I can use either the skip or FF buttom to get to the next pic after the interval has passed.
I have no idea on how the internals of: GB-PVR/MyPictures/MVP work. But, I'm wondering what the mechanism is for the next picture to be send to the MVP for display. Is it possible that there is a race condition going on and in the random mode it takes just a little bit too long to get the next pic ready to send before the actual send to MVP happens. This is a possible explaination was to why a dedicated machine would have no problem but a MVP does.
I have a DVB-t recording of about an hour (1.4GB) which is showing odd behaviour on skipping towards the end of the file, it sometimes skips forward by much less than a minute, and sometimes skips backwards. I have the skip forward button on my remote set to a 60 second advance.
I'm having problems making schedulings through the actual interface in GBPVR.
Before I start, I'm running version 0.95.16 of GBPVR and the latest version of the web interface.
For example:
I go to a show in the TV Guide in GBPVR (lets say The Simpsons, where the new episodes play at 8pm on Sundays on channel 3) and then I click on OK to get the information, I go to record and then I select Record Season (all weekly airing, this timeslot). Theres two episodes of The Simpsons that play back to back on Sundays, one at 7:30 and one at 8:00. Both episodes get highlighted in red. This is weird since I only want to record the 8-8:30 timeslot. I check in the Recordings section in GBPVR and it says that both episodes are pending, and in reoccuring it says that its reoccuring (the time on it is the first episode from 7:30-8:00).
Thats not all, when I go see whats going on with this on the web scheduling (manage recordings), the status says "Reoccurring" and the air date says "Season 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM" (which would explain why both episodes are highlighted, but it says different in the GBPVR interface). And like it should, both episodes of The Simpsons are listed to record.
And last thing is that when I cancel the recording through the tv guide, the recordings aren't pending anymore, but they are still reoccuring which I assume means they won't record this week, but they will record next week (which I assume is correct).
It seems as though I can only get recordings to work properly if I schedule them through the web. If I schedule through the web everything works perfect and all the times and everything are correct.
So in conclusion, I think it has something to do with the huge time interval of the timeslot its supposed to record the recordings, which is quite frustrating...please help! Thanks
EDIT: One more question, I was told by increasing the "Minute Slice" in the config on the web interface would make the missing vertical lines re-appear in the guide, I was wondering what exactly "accuracy of program layout" means. I changed it to 15 and now all the colors and pictures are gone, everything is white and messed up. Thanks
I am lost on trying to figure out how to FF/RW or skip through videos. Everytime I hit the skip or FF or the blank button on my MVP remote it jumps back to the beginning of the video. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
So you can start net radio and then go read your rss feeds which is killer...
What would be really cool... is if when your watching tv you could jam back to the full on guide and still have the sound going from the channel you were watching so you know when the commericial is over.
I recently did a full re-install with the latest GBPVR. I also have Xrecord, My Pictures, Weather, Stocks, VA panel, and MVP position plugins.
I have a DirecTV D11-300 box with a Hauppauge IR blaster, a PVR-150, and one Media MVP. I use the ContourHC skin.
Since the upgrade, all subsequent recordings scheduled through Xrecord have "Failed" - they show in the "Ready" list as "Failed". The computer has been on all the time and there have been no Hibernation issues. I can watch Live TV ok, the channel changing works perfectly, and I can do "Quick Record" from the TV guide without any problems either.
I reproduced the problem today, and have the logs attached. The recording was scheduled for 2pm on 1/7/06 and never got started.
Am I missing a core file or something? Please take a look and let me know.
One of the Comskip users reported a problem with the commercial detection on low resolution recordings.
Low resolution is defined as a recording having a lower horizontal resolution compared to the vertical resolution.
An example is a DVB-T stream recorded at 544*576.
You can check if you have this problem when you set verbose=5 and check the log file for long segments with an aspect ratio of 0.0
The problem has been solved in version 79.15 (comskip79_15.zip) which can be download from the link below.

Excuse the newbie question, but I've done a few searches on the site and didn't really find any answers. I just setup a PVR 150 (direct recording plugin) with a direct feed from my cable (not through the box) and scheduled recordings seem to only record the last channel I had up in the WinTV2000 application. Seems that GBPVR isn't changing the channel before recording.
Now, I'm assuming GBPVR has direct control of the tuner and doesn't need an external IR app to change channels for it. Recordings are great, but I have to go into WinTV2000 and change to the correct channel before it records what I want.
I have two identical tuners in my server connected to cable TV, and I'm curious if they both have to update the Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) from Zap2it. It would seem to me that they both don't need to do the same thing, but it appears that they do.
Am I missing something in the configuration, or is this not an option?
And yes, I'm having the Zap2it issue as well this A.M.
