Hello, before I begin let me emphasise that I am pretty new to this hobby, but I have spent some time reading through these forums.
I am looking to build PVR capability into my existing PC (Athlon 2500+, 512MB, Matrox G550, DSL connection, Windows 2000, will add plenty of disk space), primarily for use with UK digital terrestrial (freeview) broadcasts, though it would be nice to have the capability to add analogue/satellite/cable functionality in the future.
I am considering buying a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI tuner card, and a MediaMVP for playback to the TV (via RGB SCART). Are these good choices?
If I buy these items, I will have 2 remotes. Will I be able to get rid of one?
When I install these items and set up GBPVR, is there a best way to go about setting up the software (will the order matter?)? I understand that GBPVR will perform some/all of the functions of some of the Hauppauge software, are there things I should avoid installing?
Finally, I have read references to "muxes" (eg. a "Cyberlink mux") - what exactly are they? Will I have to go hunting for these to make things work, or will they be with either the Hauppauge disks or GBPVR?

I can't find a way to pick a point along the GBPVR timebar and just jump to it. Playing an MPG in WMP or something like it allows you slide a cursor along a timeline. It just leaps to there. Is there something I have overlooked in the wiki?
P.S.
I'd love to find a way to make VLC (or similar playback software) pay attention to the commercial skip files created by comskip. Anyone know how?
the whole TV tuner game is brand new to me so if anyone at all could give me some help/advice it would be fantastic!
I got an Hauppauge HVR-900 for Christmas and had no success with WIN-TV. SO i downloaded GBPVR and am able to recieve some channels here in Northern Ireland. But they are mainly the BBC stations
When i try to view ITV,C4,E4,M4 i usually get sound but no audio.
Any ideas of things to try or has any experience of the HVR-900 or Tv cards in NI?
I took a copy of your XRecord/CDK Scheduler toolset (via CVS at sourceforge) and added a number of functions.
Specifically, these functions allow for the "unscheduling" of the programs that were scheduled by CDK Scheduler.
The reason behind this:
1. I use CDK Scheduler (PriorityRecordings) for all my season recordings.
2. I live in Europe (using XML TV).
The problem I have been having is that quite often the scedule for programs that I want to record changes.
Usually this gets fixed about 1 day before the program airs, but since I have my EPG for the next 7 days, I end up with double recording entries. (GBPVR won't delete programs that have been scheduled for recording, so it keeps the old (incorrect) entry).
The easiest way for me to fix this, is to "unschedule" all the PriorityRecordings programs, and then after the EPG-update, PriorityRecordings gets run again and evertyhing is okay.
I am still contemplating writing a tool that will fix this more structurally (also for manually scheduled recordings), but it will be some time before I get round to that.
I made changes in only one file (Scheduler.cs), and added another stand-alone executable (in the form of PriorityRecording.exe).
I'm not sure if you want to keep this addition, or want to remove it, but I though I'd let you know what I did, so you can think about it...

I have just finished setting up my (very first) GBPVR computer. In setting up my computer, I have written a small tool to handle some extended XML TV filtering.
The Tool allows for configuration of a set of filters (using regular expressions) that can be used to remove programmes from the XML TV source file (for overlapping programs) or modify XML fields and attributes in the XML TV source file (for fixing start/stop times, titles and sub-titles).
Because of the use of regular expressions and the facts that it saves a set of filters in one file, makes it extermly fit for use with GBPVR (or any other XML TV based system).
I have been using it succesfully for a little while, and I thought I would share it with the rest of the community

Hi all, hope you can help with this... It's probably an easy one...
I have updated my GBPVR to use the Zap2It TV listings. In the config program I am able to update the listings and all seems to work fine.
The problem is that when I get into GBPVR and click the TV Listings from the main menu, I get nothing. The channels show up on the left but the data is not there.
Likewise, when viewing live TV, the channel information does not show up at the bottom.
Well I can dream can't I?. I've recently been exposed to http://www.pandora.com and the ability to listen and/or say yes/no on an MVP would be great.
thanks to all the developers, I'm reading the docs, but it will be a looooong time before I know what they're saying and I can understand C and windows interfacing.
When I watch LIVE TV and press the button to bring up the OSD infomation I see some sort of light purple and light green in the background for a split sec then it goes away. Is this suppose to happen?
