I've seen a few posts on this forum that say the TV out on the WinTV 350 won't work with MCE. Does this mean the TV out function on the card will not function at all in the operating system, or does it mean it won't function using the Media Center application? (i.e., could I use some other media front end, such as GB-PVR, to utilize my TV out capability?) The reason I ask is I'm considering building a new system, and I'm trying to decide whether I should use Windows XP or MCE 2005. If I can get TV out functionality in any way with my WinTV 350, I would use MCE 2005 . . . otherwise, I will go with XP.
finally got my TV Tuner card hooked up (Hauppauge 250) on my workstation at home. I mainly want to use it to record a few shows daily for my kids and a few for me and the wife.
I'm using the default software that comes from Hauppauge right now but am very interested in GB-PVR. Honestly what I'm using now works perfectly fine EXCEPT that I wish it wouldn't "pop-up" the actual app when recording the shows. There are options to mute it while recording and to close the app when done recording, but that still doesn't help for when somebody is on the PC and the recording kicks-in.
Does GB-PVR offer this option? To record behind the scenes if I tell it to? I don't want to be interrupted while working on the PC with a TV show recording, or for that matter confuse my 2 and 4yr olds if they are playing on the PC when it kicks in.
I had GB-PVR on a computer and was working great, then I sold that computer. I copied the entire GB-PVR directory from "C:\Program Files" and all my videos from thier directory "P:\PVR\(subfolders of shows recorded by GBPVR)".
I put them in the exact same places on my new computer, and then installed the newest version of GB-PVR on top of the old one. Unfortuantly the new install did not recognize the old videos in the "P:\PVR" folder as being there and they don't show up in Recordings menu. The schedule & settings did survive the new install.
Is there any way I can make GB-PVR recognze the old videos in "P:\PVR" folder ?
It is even recording new episodes of the same shows into correct "P:\PVR" folders next to the older unrecognized episodes. I can get the software to SEE the videos if I point my video archive to that "P:\PVR" folder, but you loose the episode data.
I have installed PVR-350 in a P3, 1GHz, 256 RAM machine. The card is connected to TV via the TV out. The installation went smoothly. The winTV 2000 application works correctly, including recording, pause and playback of the recorded clips with winamp on the PC monitor. Next I installed GBPVR, again went smoothly. Got the OSD on the TV, works well with the Hauppauge remote. The TV guide showed correctly, the weather channel pluggin also works. However, I could not see any TV pictures nor record any. On selecting Live TV, I get a blank screen for few seconds and then the menu screen. I then changed the output to PC monitor to see if there is issue with the PVR card. When I click Live TV - i get this error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an objectâ . I tried using different codecs - intervideo NonCSS which came with the PVR card, Cyberlink (trial version) and showshifter (trial version). The log files are attached (I am not a programmer, so i do not know what they mean).
Any help will be greatly appreciated......

I wonder if anyone else has experienced phantom wake-ups from standby (STR).
This does not happen often for me and is not causing a major issue , but occassionaly my pc will wake itself up when no recording or windows schedule has been scheduled, it stays wake for a couple of minutes then shuts itself down automatically.
The questions I have are:
- why is it waking?
- and more importantly, what is shutting it down?, as XP is configured to go to standby after 15 minutes.
The wake bit I can kind of understand, it could be a USB event , however, the only USB device installed is a wireless LAN which has no power too it when in standby , so fail to see how.

When I use VMR9 everything plays and records fine the only thing is that I can't target the Live TV window with girder, plus overlay manager plays a little smoother.
When I use overlay manager everything plays fine, but when I record I get sound w/No video. With overlay manager I can target the Live TV window with girder.
I don't know much about decoders or anything. How can I record without a black screen using overlay manager?
