  Backup stream
Posted by: cords911 - 2020-02-11, 10:43 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

It would be awesome if you could manually assign a second stream url to an iptv channel, and then NextPVR could start recording the 2nd stream if the first one fails.

  Thoroughly broken and going backwards?
Posted by: adwsail - 2020-02-11, 10:40 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (23)

I keep trying to like the new Nextpvr but I cant seem to get it to work in any way reliably.
1. Cannot watch ANY live TV now, broken in this latest release and the last though in the last one it kinda worked until I switched the transcoding from CPU to Vaapi. That didnt work at all, black screen. Switched back to cpu and nothing since despite a remove and a purge with a new install.
2. Recordings kinda works but frequent freezes. Not possible to watch a recorded show, stops, starts, transcoder exits. Although if I keep hitting my right mouse button it will play perfectly, ugh. Its a logitech anywhere 2 wifi mouse that works flawlessly anywhere else.
3. Tried the 200211 version, same issues. Enourmously high cpu usage, due to browser I guess. VLC plays nextpvr recorded video with no issues and 12-18% cpu usage. Vlc CAN connect to nextpvr stream using the 127 address copied from the bottom of the screen but immediately fails saying no stream.
4. Now when I try to watch a recorded show I get "Failed to start requested stream". I get the same message when I try to watch a tv channel live.

well the version 3 revs back at least allowed me to watch and record live video without issues. Replay was not possible, a dozen or more freezes on a 30 minute Big Bang Theory rerun. And yet VLC would play it flawlessly.

Im sure Ive done something wrong. I mean Beta software is supposed to have at least its basic functionality. Right now I use Nextpvr for the EPG and recording and VLC to watch everything. Live ota is not an option, I must goo back to the tv for live anything.

Anyone have better luck with Mythtv?

  Record multiple segments
Posted by: markn62 - 2020-02-11, 10:18 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

Since my suggestion for having the server restart a failed recording @ https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59869 was not well received I have an alternate feature suggestion for consideration. Might it be possible to have a setting for a max record time such that if set for 15 min a 1 hr show selected from the guide would create four ts files with a sequence number appended to the end of the filename? This would at least minimize the amount of the recording that's lost when a stream hicccups. Would be especially helpful recording a 3 to 6 hour show in the guide.  Whenever I encounter a program longer than an hour, particularly sporting events, I have to create several manual recordings to better ensure I don't loose the whole thing. This is time consuming especially since the "scheduler>add manual recording" function, via a browser, doesn't remember all of the entry fields if a few recordings are created in succession.

Appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks.

Unable to browse to live TV buffer directory
Posted by: Steviewunda - 2020-02-11, 10:00 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

Hi - when setting up NextPVR 5, should I be able to browse to the live TV buffer and Recordings directories? I can only browse to C: drive directories - other drives do not show up. Do I need to manually enter non C: drive locations? The reason I ask is that my first install had problems, and I had manually entered the locations, the buffer directory being on a local ramdrive, and the Recordings directory being on drive D:
Cheers,
Steve

  Search EPG info by category/genre
Posted by: nhm - 2020-02-11, 01:57 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (6)

I am looking at possible replacements in Win 10 after many years with Windows Media Centre under Win 7. WMC will display a list of all programs in the current EPG within a category and sub-category making it easy to choose what to record. Does NPVR currently offer similar functionality either in the main program or using an add-on? (I found one post about this but it's 4 years old and may be outdated).

  Version 5.0.1.200209
Posted by: dsreyn - 2020-02-11, 03:48 AM - Forum: Docker amd64 - Replies (17)

Just installed the new version for Docker.  A couple of things that grabbed my eye in the feature list in the release announcement are:

> Bumped maximum pre/post-padding up to 2 hours in web app when scheduling recording

> Fixed an issue with updatingt recurring recording parameters in web app

However, both of these things still behave the old way.  The padding settings top out at 60, and I still don't seem to be able to change advanced rules for existing recurring recordings (at least, I'm guessing that's what the second fix refers to).

Not trying to be a crank here - I can certainly get by just fine without the changes.  Just thought I'd mention it, because it sounds like they're intended to be there (I verified that my settings page gives the version as 5.0.1.200209).

Thanks,
Doug

Is there a quick/easy way to 'refresh channels' in NextPVR?
Posted by: CenturyBreak - 2020-02-10, 09:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (21)

Greetings all.

I've been a user of the basic features of NextPVR for about a year and a half, but a first time poster here!

As mentioned, basic usage is the extent of my experience, but I'm hoping there's a quick way of doing what I need to do on a regular basis. The issue is that I use an IPTV provider that's very reliable, but is regularly moving channels around or otherwise reorganizing things.

What happens is that, while I'm able to watch a stream, the guide for these moved channels only has "(no show details)" This kills any timer recordings, of course.

The upshot is that, every 3 to 5 weeks, I need to carry out the following workflow:

Delete the provider...
Re-add the provider...
Manually delete the many, many channels I don't use...
Delete the groups containing the channels in the prior step, since deleting the groups first doesn't delete the channels...
Recreate timers...

Yes, I am the opposite of a 'power user'! Wink

So... since the channels are still viewable but EPG data is being messed up by these moves, is there an easier/quicker way of relinking the two? I know the EPG data is still there (somewhere...) as trying the same provider with an IPTV box shows that it's updated properly when connecting to the provider.

If I can provide any further info to help you help me, please let me know.

Thanks in advance! Smile

P.S... for some reason, the forum software has deleted my account a few times over the past year, so I didn't really just join in Feb. 2020! Dodgy

See what is scheduled in search
Posted by: Oempa - 2020-02-10, 07:04 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (2)

First of all, nextpvr 5 is amazing. Thanks for sharing this great software for free

But I asked this before and there should be a change related to this question in the new build
But now on the new build from last weekend I still don't know how to do this

Using the GUI I see in search and see right away what is already scheduled

Using the webinterface I have no idea how to do this
Can the blue font be changed to red for scheduled recordings ?

IPTV live stops translations on kodi
Posted by: jeffdonovan - 2020-02-10, 01:57 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (10)

Hey guys, so I've installed nextpvr5 backend on windows-based HTPC, and I'm using kodi18 as a front-end

Translations recording works really great, but for some reason when I try to watch channels "live" it just stops working from time to time, like, exiting to kodi main screen. When I watch the same channel on simple IPTV add-on for kodi, it freezes from time to time, and continues after a small period of time, while with nextPVR it just completely exits. Some channels would work longer without exiting than the others.

Is this a kodi front-end issue, or maybe I need to change settings in client or back-end?

backend log is in attachment, you find timestamp where errors occured by searching for error, it is exactly when it happened.

  Delete IPTV Streams
Posted by: Tunes0710 - 2020-02-10, 09:23 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

Hi all,

I've a few redundant IPTV sections, but I can't see any way to remove them? When I click in to them, there is no delete button?
Is it possible to add this in? It's not a big deal, but the ability to tidy up would be useful.
