Hello, I am trying to convert some VHS tapes to MPG using a Hauppage PVR 500MCE and GBPVR. When I record from S-Vdeo there is no sound. I have the sound plugged into the L/R Audio Jacks on the Hauppage card.
What am I doing wrong??
Also..a bit off topic here, but how can I take these MPGs and make a DVD that I can play in a DVD player??
I am trying to use XDVD to watch iso files in another room through my MVP. I have installed the plugin and vlc and have modified the settings.xml file. I have reviewed all the threads on this plugin and I can't get it to work.
When I open XDVD (either on the pc or mvp), I can see my iso files on my hard drive that I have previously ripped using dvdshrink. However, when I select one and hit the play button, nothing happens. VLC appears to start but immediately stops (through task manager, I can see it start but immediately stop). The green square never appears in gbpvr and the counter never changes from 0/150 and I end up with a 1kb c:\dvd.mpg file. I can play dvd's (video_ts) through the pc and mvp using XDVD.
Heya.
I'm going to move to France early next year (job relocated), and I'm trying to setup a system I'll be able to use overseas.
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to nowadays TV interfaces like HDMI, component or DVI. I noticed that my Video card has a DVI output, and that there's DVI to HDMI cables for sale in every Best Buy and Circuit City in the US, so my first question would be: if I plug such a TV to my current video card (ATI 9600Pro), will it be seen like a basic PC monitor? Will it work basically the same way?
If the answer to the above is yes, does that mean that I could in theory play any kind of video, be it from a PAL, NTSC or SECAM origin on this TV, as long as it's played by my PVR software (like I'm doing today on my regular LCD PCD monitor)
Am I correct?
Second question, is there a quality loss in using a DVI to HDMI cable? Is there any advantage in buying a TV with a DVI input instead of HDMI?
I'm sure your answers will make me think of more questions, so I'll stop here
Have recently updated to latest 95.14 release and have observed a bug-ette with the EPG download from broadcast function.
Previously I have not had this work but the new relaease does seem to download some listings.
Noticed that during the Update EPG routine the config dialog puts up a window and each channel is "listened to" for 120secs during which time listings are downloaded.
On this version I noticed that after a few channels had been so scanned the download lsitings dialog said "writing listings to database or similar" but then one of the channels in the list had been renamed to channel "8". There was previously no such channel. I was also surprised to notice that not all channels were "listened to". I had about 20 in my list and only about 8 were scanned. Im also fairly sure that channels not ticked in my channel list in the cpature device dialog appeared in the EPG - which is odd.
Tried this a couple of times and the rename to channel "8" was repeatable. Also had a lock up on one scan but that might be coincidence. Maybe a spelling mistake has crept into the code.
Card in question is a Nova-T 90002.
Haven't yet tried EPG from satellite - not sure there would be enough space on my hard disk for the resulting channel list - or that I have enough time left alive to sort the channel data.
I am trying to use the new feature to put a task image on the selected main menu button, but it causes GBPVR to crash with an unhandled exception for an object reference not set to an object error.

I apologize in advance if this is posted somewhere already, but I could not find it. If it is please just post a link.
I would like to update to the newest version which has some features that I would enjoy; however, the version I am using now is working nicely and I am afraid of potential trouble. What steps do I need to follow to minimize headaches? Are there files that I need to backup so that I don't have to setup all of my capture sources and epg? or does the update procedure conserve these settings?
My gbpvr directory was getting out of hand and I started having weird things happen so I started over. No when I use the config to scan the music directory, I get the attached error. This was not happening before I started everything over and I'm pretty sure that it's installed correctly and went over everything a few times. Surely I missed something unless this is a conflict of some sort.
I welcome suggestions.
Thanks
OK I've finally got it working!!! I finally was able to get my ATI HDTV Wonder and my 350 card recording programs at the same time.
Now my problem is that when I play back the HD recording, and try to fast forward, the video just gets stuck, the hard drive cranks like it trying to format c: .
Any advice how get it working? my output card is an Nvidia 5500. and I have 1GB ram with a 1.8gHz.
I have a hauppauge 350 and i just installed gb-pvr today. Everything else seems to work great, but i can't get the tv guide to work. I signed up for the account, it went through. When i update the egp that throws no errors, but i still don't have any listings. What might the problem be?
